The Coronavirus thread

Now that masks have become mandatory in most places, I'm waiting for the woke fascists to now start trying to ban certain types of masks.

Just wait for the gloom and doom that is about to come when there's a bunch of spikes in cases due to so many going back to college campuses. It seems obvious that there will be spikes, and these will be cases on young people at very low risk. Despite that, it will be reported as the boogeyman and the calls for new lockdowns will be rampant.

My neighbor is a school teacher in one of the local districts. She says that some of her colleagues, not high risk category, are deathly afraid to go back to school.
I made a recommendation.
They should turn off their TV, and they will be fine.

When we had our in service on Tuesday, the district was using a color coded way to determine how school would be run. Green meant zero cases and good to go in person. Then there was yellow, which was ok to go but could change daily, then orange which meant hybrid, and red which meant virtual. On Tuesday, there were 10 cases in the town of 25,000- so we were at orange! It didn’t say 10 cases at the school or in schools- 10 in the ENTIRE town. Judging by that, I’m gonna say we are virtual in September.

We have a national case of Stockholm Syndrome.
Fact-children are at greater risk of serious illness with seasonal flu. We have never shut down for that.
This is insanity.

So after weeks of planning, debate, parent surveys and a vote by the school board to have hybrid instruction for our kids, our county health department just yesterday decided to recommend that all schools be totally virtual til 10/9. Poof...months of work planning and some considerable spending down the drain. 82% of parents surveyed wanted some in-person instruction. Unelected bureaucrats overturning the will of the people.

Although part of the problem is many teachers opted out and they can't find subs.

This is probably the end of fall sports too.

I don't know what the hell they think is going to be different on 10/9. Ridiculous.

They don't expect there to be a difference. They are shutting down everything they can because they want to. Delays are just them making airplane noises while they give you the medicine. It's just cover to fool people into thinking that they are going by data and making rational decisions for the greater good and that they just have no choice but to shut down your life while they continue to get paid and gain in political power.

.....while they continue to get paid and gain in political power.

That is the biggest FU to parents. "We will not teach your children, but you WILL continue to pay us." If schools don't open, teachers don't get paid. Want to teach virtually? Get paid 50%, because thats what kids get out of virtual learning. Then their attitudes will change. And no ******* retroactive pay when they finally return.

Last night the principal of our HS went against Sedgwick County orders and held an actual graduation ceremony for the class of 2020. It was outside, and graduated were spaced 6 feet apart. There were 500, so you can imagine how much of the football field they took up. Each graduate was allowed only 2 tickets and those people were socially distanced in the stands. He said that these kids worked too hard for 18 years to have this ceremony taken from them. I’m sure he’s gonna get blasted by the local papers and news- but he took a stand and stuck to it. Thank you, Mr. Tim Hamblin for having balls and standing up to the powers that be!!!!

Good for him. We did ours where it was broken down by last name alphabetically in half hour increments per group. Each graduate was able to bring whichever family they wanted in their cars and pulled up in front of the school one at a time. The Superintendent and Principal had a table decorated and set up outside the HS foyer which overlooks the park. They had all the Diplomas there and each kid walked down the street to the HS while their families followed behind taking pictures. When they got to the administrators they were handed their Diploma and we had a photographer posted there to snap a picture of them posing with their Diploma. The family was then allowed to come over and take all the pictures they wanted. When they were done, the teachers waiting at the corner radioed down to the Principal which kid was next in the line of cars. They used the pictures that the photographer took and made a slideshow that they used to do a 30 minute broadcast of the graduates on the local news. The ceremony took damn near 5 hours but I'm glad we got to do it.

Some things I think about the 'Rona:
1. If I got the 'Rona and died a lot of my problems would be over.
2. I ain't ever been that lucky.
Therefore I wear a mask if a place says I have to but I don't really freaking worry about it.

The United States’ most popular pizza topping is the latest foodstuff casualty of the novel coronavirus pandemic as supplies tighten and pizzerias nationwide grapple with rising costs.

According to Bloomberg, demand has risen sharply as large sections of the public continue avoiding public dining, while production snags at meat processing plants nationwide have kept supplies tight.

In fact, some smaller shops are paying as much as $2 more per pound compared with pre-pandemic costs, Bloomberg reported.

Pepperoni is made from a cured mixture of pork and beef that is seasoned with spices such as paprika and chili pepper to give it a smoky flavor, Today reported.

Barry Friends, a partner at foodservice consultant Pentallect, told Bloomberg the ingredient’s labor-intensive process and low profit margins have forced some producers to abandon the product entirely as they “streamline operations” amid the pandemic.

According to Bloomberg, larger chain pizzerias typically buy ingredients on long-term contracts with pre-negotiated prices that are not subject to market changes, so Domino’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut and Little Caesars have avoided pepperoni shortages or price increases to date.

Citing a YouGov survey conducted in 2019, 53% of U.S. respondents selected pepperoni as one of their top three favorite pizza toppings, Today reported.

I saw that yesterday about the pepperoni!! How can you have pizza without pepperoni???

Since people have had the time, they are probably experimenting with making pizza at home.

Holy ****. Again, this has to be Coolie ******* with us.

A graph that provides the entire picture, what a concept. I wonder why these graphs weren't considered to be mandatory circulation by the virus experts and mainstream media?

And you just wait Indy, Flog is gonna "getcha" because the numbers aren't right to the moment up-to-date. Forget that that's not even the purpose of why you posted the graph, he's still gonna pull a "drive-by" on dat ***.
