The Coronavirus thread

The science says herd immunity is almost impossible for this virus. There is no herd immunity for the flu or common cold virus. I believe it came from China and they tried to keep it hidden, but once it was here that part is irrelevant. 20% of nursing homes in the area had PPE shortages in Sept. That is on the government. Trump made companies pump out ventilators which is great, but he needed to have others pump out basic PPE supplies. If places used PPE as required there would be a super shortage. People just blindly follow Trump and i don't get it. If 99 people said one thing and Trump said the opposite. People would claim the 99 people as hacks or fake news. He is like a cult leader with blind followers

It could have come from anywhere. At this point, does it really matter? Let’s blame China. Problem solved, or not.

Yes. Yes it does. When the last 3 global pathogens have originated from the same country, yes I say that matters. The fact they withhold information so the globe can make real time decisions I think matters.

Lab in China. Altered protein spike that could not have happened naturally.

No wonder it acts abnormal...duh.

As far as the cult leader Trump stuff. I swear some of you just beg to be ruled and told what to do. You beg for a master to guide your every move.

You'd give up all liberty and freedom for a little false security.

That's what I see around the country. A bunch of tyrants and the weak humans who follow them without question.

I prefer dangerous liberty . All of this fear mongering is for cowards. Over it.

China makes our ppe. The few that are made in the states were gobbled up by China around January/February of 2020. Maybe bells should have went off. Regardless. The little of manufacturing we had, shut down. “Open that ****”. ...nooo they can be exposed, stay home. See the picture here.

Irrelevant!!! If China would have been open most the globe could have contained this to China. To some extent. Again it takes one. That’s again giving China a pass. Unreal.

“Hey frank, I see your company makes tires, **** that make N95s”. Ahh what? Ok. How do I change my plant, how do I train my folks, how do I get the supplies. Recall all that PPE that was ****. Yeah that’s where a lot came from.

99 people. So when he closed travel and the dims said he is a racist what for them? There is no cult, jfc. It’s blind hate. Period. Whatever this man does. Orange man bad. Shut travel down, racist it’s fine. Fast forward he didn’t do it soon enough, blah blah blah.

As for herd. Disagree to an extent. Can someone get a virus, flu, measles, shingles etc having had said things, having had vaccinations, being around those of like? Yes. It’s a ******* virus. The point isn’t your wearing a suite of armor it’s that your body, your antibodies have a greater chance to win. Just like ppe. Is gloves good yes, is a mask good too, better, snap a respirator, damn we are adding those layers of protection. See. Seee how it works.

At this point, what percentage of our game plan do you feel should be devoted to blaming China?

companies were able to shift to vent production... some should have been able to shift to whatever.

If you ever listened to Trumps followers when interviewed they parrot whatever trump says. I agree with the travel ban, but the problem is Trump kept continuing to downplay the virus. It is one thing to not cause panic, but to try to sweep it under the rug and hope it magically goes away is another.

In my area it is exploding right now. Most nursing homes in the area are not taking admissions due to cases. Staffing at my place is pretty dire. The county was having like 20 cases in 3 days now we are hitting triple digits daily. Some are trying to pin it on the Trump rally in latrobe which i don't buy, but regardless it is pretty ugly at the moment

Naming the place or origin takes zero percent of a plan. It’s outlining where it came from. What percent should be done following? Very high.

1. Continue virus’s coming from and lies to the globe until it’s to late
2. Too much of US manufacturing in said country, including PPE.
3. The WHO is in their pocket.

This is more of a “lessons” learned following.

I work for a nursing home company. I have over 120 centers I cover. I know the impact. I also know THIS is the demographic the virus takes the biggest toll on. Where is your hate for Como, Wolf, the governs of NJ, And other dim governors that FORCED Covid positives into nursing homes? But trump.

I don't like wolf or Cuomo...I thought it was ridiculous Cuomo was being hailed as some hero when NY was having 1k deaths per day. Personally any homes around here that i know of were never forced to take positive residents. We have always required a negative test before admission. You also have to remember Cuomo and friends are not president and do not influence as many people as trump.

Any thing from the mask wearing to miracle cures to pushing the conspiracy theories that have no merit. When he talked about ingesting bleach, people actually did that.. Yes people are stupid and gullible, but as president he needs to be better

On social media you can tell who wasn't allowed to jump in mud puddles and forced to wear bike helmets when they were kids.

Thanks. Knew you would go there. Yet again masks with DT, all he does is make a choice as an American to wear or not wear. His right. But yet again, the Doc said we don’t need them and countless lives lost. He gets a pass. Thanks.

If you are dumb enough to drink bleach, Darwin. You don’t belong.

60 Minutes just had a very interesting coronavirus segment. It made me want to pay higher taxes.

He doesnt give a choice he mocks people who wear them and doesnt wear them himself. His lemmings do whatever he does.

If they work so well, you wear yours and I’ll fend for myself.

I'm not real worried.
1. If I got the 'rona and died, a lot of my problems would be over.
2. I'm not that lucky.

In my state something like 80% of the cases and 90% of the deaths were people in nursing homes who had other health problems. I'm none of those things.

I'm a bit fed up with these lines. Why? Why is the Government responsible?

Don't get me wrong, the Federal stockpile should have been full. It wasn't. Thank you Obama.

Does the government supply hospitals with sheets? Insulin? IVs? Beds? Janitorial mops? Surgical gowns?

Are healthcare systems not responsible for sourcing their supplies? I believe they are.

If those supplies are in short supply, and we've outsourced all of our manufacturing to overseas companies...a problem DT has been trying to fix...could we/should we not point a finger at prior administrations that pushed our manufacturing overseas?

Why is the shortage of PPE DT's fault?

What made PPE the Government's responsibility but the rest of the hospitals' supplies are their responsibility?

did anybody catch the Biden commercial during the steelers game where there was a bar owner who blames Trump for his bar being shut down? Are there actually people out there that are so dumb that they don't know it's their governor or mayor who have them shut down?

Just today, Wolf vetoed a bill that would have loosened restrictions on bars and restaurants. Somehow Trump's fault though.

"The Defense Production Act of 1950 was signed by President Harry S. Truman amid concerns about supplies and equipment during that war. It's been invoked multiple times since then to help the federal government for a range of emergencies including war, hurricanes and terrorism prevention."
Bottom line is that it is a national emergency and no one was fully prepared for. Again Trump shifted plants to make ventilators and could have done so for other plants to make gowns, masks, etc etc. Not sure what is so hard to understand about that.....Also supposedly Obama left Trump a plan to refill the stockpile, but Trump knows all about everything so apparently he didnt read it or care. He had 3 yrs to restock it and did not do it. We are like 8 months heavy into this and supplies are still short that is an inexcusable failure. Trump needs to be a leader instead of blaming everyone else. The supply shortage was definitely fixable in more ways than one. We use more gowns in a day now that we normally use in 2-3 months. No healthcare facility could have been stockpiled for a 8+ month long pandemic.

As for blaming Trump for failing businesses I think that is wrong. I do think there should have been more national guidance on the shutdown / reopening, but businesses would have been lost no matter who the president was. Part of the problem was people did not listen during the shut down so it had no chance at being effective w/o stronger enforcement.

But whatever Trump is perfect, Trump knows all about everything. Trump never makes a mistake. All hail dear leader Trump. Im sure when he gets re-elected by winning every state he will wish away COVID and it will disappear.

Nobody thinks Trump is perfect. It's just that most of the things he's bashed for are fake news. Like when you said he told people to ingest bleach. Complete fake news. That was PELOSI who said that Trump told people to drink bleach and the medic ran with that.

Trump did invoke the Defense Production Act to get ventilators built. That was all you heard about at the time was that we needed ventilators or everybody will die!!! Also, maks don;t do **** so don;t bother buying one. That was what Fauci said and so did the surgeon general. They specifically said to NOT buy masks.

So Trump did "follow the science". He gave NY what they asked for. Got Cuomo all the ventilators he needed. Sent the Hospital ship, etc. But now people want to retroactively bash him for not forcing companies to make N95 masks? That's ridiculous.

Besides, it's probably easier to make a ventilator than certain PPE equipment. A ventilator is a machine. It's pretty much just a big fan that's modified. PPE equipment needs to be made to exact standards. I'd bet it's tough to just start making that stuff at the drop of a hat.

Nobody knew how to handle COVID. All around the world, it was handled many different ways with varying success. When Fauci said masks don't work, I don;t fault him. Nobody knows to this day if they work. When Pelosi told people it was just the flu and come to Chinatown, i don't blame her. That was reasonable at that time.

What i do have a problem with is this revisionist blame game where people think Trump should have know from day 1 how to handle this when not even the experts knew. The experts still don't agree now. They've just made this a talking point.

Whenever I challenge a Liberal to give me an example of where Trump didn't "listen to the experts", they've got nothing. Although at this point it's apparent that "the experts" don't know any more than anybody else.

Monday morning quarterbacking, although you'll never get a leftists to admit that. I like to use the analogy that if I bought Amazon at $18 a share in 1997, I just might be rich today.

Every time Trump doesn't wear a mask, he isn't listening to the experts, every time he holds a rally he isn't listening to the experts, every time he suggests something is a cure he isn't listening to the experts.
Trump is a walking talking bad example in regard to the virus. The opposite of what a leader should be.
