The Coronavirus thread

So back in the NAZI (National Socialist German Workers' Party) days, they encouraged (made) their subjects wear swastika armbands to demonstrate their allegiance to the party. Ol Adolf would probably be pretty impressed at how much has changed in our country.

Speaking of Nazis, did Biden also say the U.S. was a friend of Hitler at one point? Like I said in the debate thread, just so many blunders that I've lost count.

Not the government, but the New York Times liked him and Time magazine made him their Man Of The Year in 1938.

Stalin, Nixon and Obama all won twice.
Kruschev, Putin, Sadat and King Faisal all won once.

Most US Presidents with double terms have won twice.

As we heard last night, Trump wants the country to open up 100%, get back to normal and be successful. Biden wants a mask mandate until 2022, shut down the economy again and basically kill off America.

We've got a dark winter coming, with 200,000 more dead by just the end of the year! When your entire platform is fear porn, you're cooked IMO.

So you acknowledge the 32% increase in daily cases over the past two weeks but think 200,000 more dead isn’t something to be concerned over, or youre being sarcastic and think that estimate is nonsense? If so, what is a more reasonable estimate?

Nobody knows what the total number of fatalities will be. The mortality rate continues to decline even as more and more cases are reported. The mortality rate in April and May was exceptionally high compared to what it is now. Be it better therapeutics, a better understanding of treatments, or a better understanding of who is actually most vulnerable to the virus, but we are not seeing the same degree of infection currently than what we did in the beginning. Even if 400K people do end up dead from the virus, it is a drop in the bucket compared to how many people dies from heart disease, cancer, preventable accidents, respiratory disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer's/dementia each and every year. Nobody is cheating death and the new "spike" in cases is occurring globally, so please do tell what government we should be modeling our response off of or what the magic solution is to stopping another virus, something that no country on Earth has figured out how to do with any previous virus.

So let me ask you a serious question here: are you just being your typical contrarian, snarky self, or do YOU actually believe 200,000 more people are going to die in 2.5 months? I'm not even going to go into how different therapeutics/treatments are now compared to the beginning when nobody knew anything about this virus, how herd immunity and antibodies work etc.

You cite infection rate BTW. Care to cite hospitalization or the current death rate?

Yeah but....we have Anthony Fauci!

South Korea, Japan, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Vietnam Nam... The US is the richest country in the world and spends by far the most in healthcare per capita. Is it too much to ask that we be ahead of the curve in dealing with a pandemic, instead of near the bottom?

More talking out of your ***...but keep grasping at straws to try to show that the US is "near the bottom". Once again, your arguments are never supported by any real facts. No wonder you like Biden, none of his "plans" are based on facts either. His "plan" for dealing with the pandemic is to recommend mask wearing and installing plexiglass...the same 2 things that have been done by governors, mayors, and many businesses around the country for MONTHS now...so yeah, great ******* plan Sherlock. Maybe you prefer a candidate that is a day late and a dollar short his entire life.

3,000 deaths/day seems like a lot but the trend is steep. Herd immunity will come after the vaccine, not before.

Daily Deaths are up 9% over the past two weeks, and lag behind cases, so... again, if it’s unreasonably high, where are we headed?

Find the morbidity and mortality rates per capita that show ANY of the countries I mentioned are anywhere near the US. BTW, most of them aren’t in Europe.

Do your own damn research Flog. Since you claim to know more than anyone here, that should be pretty easy for you.
