The Coronavirus thread

What is happening NOW is of utmost relevance during a pandemic!

25 of NDs 53 counties had a Covid death in the past week, all but one had new cases, it’s not just populated areas.

interesting.

remember when you were saying Florida was going to all die off from the Rona?
remember how the experts were saying that going outside was the worst thing you could do in the pandemic?

Pepperidge Farms remembers

my, how the tide has turned.

it's now colder than **** in ND, so people are ... wait for it ... staying inside.
meanwhile, in Floriduh, people are ... wait for it ... going outside.

Every place that locked down and opened back up again is seeing surges in infections. Again, virus gonna virus. So the question is how long are you willing to put life and livelihoods on hold. How many businesses are you willing to permanently shutter, how many people are you willing to permanently impoverish, for a virus that kills less than 1% of those it infects and generally only the most frail and ill of those.

Forever and all of them.

Flog hates traffic and never misses a check. Virus gonna virus and freeloaders gonna freeload.

Hey, the good news is that J'Biden (as Harris says it) will eradicate the 'Rona within about a week of being elected. Cause you know, the thing.

Sadly, what WILL happen should Biden "win" is that the media will just stop talking about it and the governors will stop requiring testing. And weirdly enough... it will just faaaaaade away.

The same way I look at graphs of flu cases in the weeks and months after people receive the flu vaccine.

The same way I look at increased traffic deaths after mass seatbelt wearing on holiday weekends.

Your painfully simplistic reasoning would argue that the flu vaccine and seatbelts obviously don’t work.

The Covid death rate for ND in the past week is now 7 times than that of PA. All other things being equal, ND should have a very low death rate given its low population density. Again, if it’s not a lack of restrictions, how do you explain ND leading the country in deaths/pop?

Less than half of Americans get the flu vaccine. I'm sure you were aware. The flu vaccine is still only preventative but it can be shown it has an impact with studies.

Back in 1970 (let me repeat that - 1970) it was shown that wearing of seatbelts reduce the risk of major or fatal injury in impacts by nearly 60%. You know, they implemented a new set of safety precautions and we saw a substantive result in injuries and fatalities. You can find countless studies that show wearing seatbelts had a demonstrative effect on the safety of automobile drivers and passengers.

I keep providing evidence that masks and lockdowns are having no impact on the natural curve all viruses are GOING to take and WILL take. As OFTB has said, a virus gonna virus.

Hell, even your beloved scientists told you Floggy, these measures would NOT eradicate the virus, only slow it's spread.

Yet you believe, like a Jim Jones follower, that masks and lockdowns will eradicate the virus.

Scary how many people like you believe this ****.

Seatbelts, unlike masks, actually work.

You may need to re-assess your thinking, Flog.

I thought it was primarily old people that die of Covid? So you’re arguing that obesity and diabetes are the difference between the US and the countries that had their **** together? Or obese, diabetic octogenarians are the ones dying? Because obese diabetics commonly make it to see 80?

It is primarily older people that die of COVID. Have you missed the CDC's data? Of course you have. 99.99% survival rate below age 50.

That doesn't change these facts: "Morbidly obese COVID-19 patients are 60% more likely to die or require intubation, compared with people of normal weight, researchers found. Patients who were mildly obese were 10% more likely to die or need a breathing machine, while those who were moderately obese were 30% more likely, according to the study."

So if the bulk of deaths are over age 50, or even over age 65...are you saying that that population does not include the morbidly obese or mildly or moderately obese human beings and/or diabetics?

I'll wait.

In the meantime, before you reply, you can chew on this (posted Oct 28):

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, COVID-19 is deadliest among older populations. In fact, through October 28, 92 percent of COVID-19 deaths nationwide have occurred among those ages 55 or older. Only 0.2 percent were younger than 25.

CDC data also show that Americans, regardless of age group, are far more likely to die of something other than COVID-19. Even among those in the most heavily impacted age group (85 and older), only 9.4 percent of all deaths since February 2020 were due to COVID-19.

In terms of statistical relevance meaning what the virus has historically done and is likely to do. And again, what I said is the cases are CONCENTRATED in populated areas. I did not say they are exclusive to populated areas. You love to twist things people say, don't you?

Well, Gavin Newsom and his kids matter. He is important so he should get walls and armed protection and a paycheck and kids back to school in person.

The losers who voted for him? Pffft, **** them. It's not like they actually produce and pay the money that Gavin soaks up to pay for the walls and guards and private schools for his kids.

Now you resort to straw man arguments.

I believe the renowned scientist who are more educated and more successful than you are, Strange that you defended Rex Tillerson’s ******* idiot who actually did say it would magically disappear numerous times. Lean hard into that curve, Tim.

That has nothing to do with you argument.

Your argument was that the reason the US Covid death rate was exponentially higher than other countries was because of obesity and diabetes, NOT that we have a much higher percentage of 80+ year old people.

Where did he say that? He cited a 99.99% survival rate of people below the age of 50. And obesity/diabetes & older age are not mutually exclusive, Flog.

Keep.

Though.

Flog, why don't you tell us how the lockdowns affected you financially? Did you miss any paychecks? Lose money? Spend your savings?

Or instead did you, as I suspect (know), make quite a bit extra? And increased your income, improved your savings?

Because if you had to spend your savings and you were losing money at a frightening rate, I can guaran-*******-tee that you would be pushing hard to end the stupid lockdowns.

Flog has been on the front lines. Flog has been making PPE out of discarded plastics and textiles he's managed to find while dumpster diving. He's given these away, as it is his civic duty to ensure that those around him are safe and happy, as a safe and happy populace means that he is safe and happy. Flog does this out of the sheer goodness of his own little heart. Bless it, by the way. When not making PPE, Flog has been filing cease and desist orders to keep renters in their homes. He has served soup in kitchens, handed out bottles of antibacterial gel purchased from his own pockets and helped screen for the Covid at the local hospitals and minor medical clinics. That's just what he does in his free time. His professional life has seen him make a lateral shift career-wise to resist Fonald Drumpf, fight the fash, and punch nazis when he finds them hiding. Flog lives the word he preaches. Flog's not some goddamned loser who doesnt back up what he says.

right, Flog?

I believe the renowned scientist who are more educated and more successful than you are.

Which renowned scientists? What about the Norwegian scientists who did a wide ranging study showing masks don't work? What about the Cleveland Clinic that showed 97% of COVID is passed via aerosols that cloth and surgical masks can't stop? What about the WHO scientists and doctors that recently said lockdowns are to be avoided and not the means by which you control COVID? What about the CDC scientists that say the virus is 99.99% survivable for those 50 and below?

What scientists do you adhere to?

Yeah, but what does Bill Nye say? HMMM????

How about these renowned scientists/clinicians?

Well would you look at that, the death rate has been virtually flat for 2 months. Or is John's Hopkins not 'renowned' enough for you, Flog?

Good lord man I never said we have more deaths because we have a more elderly population. You made a statement, diverting from the argument, that you thought I said it only killed old people. Stay on track Floggy. Those graphs were given to show you factually it IS killing primarily the elderly.

Back to the weight issue. Are you saying the mildly, moderately and morbidly obese people DO NOT exist in the elderly population???

What you don't seem to get is that by having a 36.2% obesity rate in American v Germany being 22.3% - obesity leads to an EXPONENTIAL potential increase in deaths for the fatter population.

Consider the following:

USA Population: 328.2Million
Germany Population: 83.02Million

USA Obese Population = 328.2Million X 36.2% = 118,808,400 obese people
Germany Obese Population = 82.02Million x 22.3% = 18,513,460 obese people

That means there are 100,294,940 MORE obese people in the USA than Germany. And that obese population is either 60%, 30% or 10% MORE LIKELY to die from COVID than those of normal weight (depending on whether they are mildly, moderately or morbidly obese).

Please tell me you get how this will lead to us having an exponential # of higher deaths....

Nevermind, Floggy don't get numbers good.
