The Coronavirus thread

I had a Macallan 18 and a small plate of different oysters. I always get the same thing. You never get enough to eat at those places or they drown everything in sauces. ******* French.

Some intelligent contributors to this forum love Macallan and were promised Macallan by a grotesque green ... organism that never delivered on xe promise.

Oh, and So0p was also promised Macallan.

Floggy Manbun and Stacy Decaf, May, 2018: "Trump colluded with Russia! I believe that because unidentified 'sources' have told the NY Slimes and Washington Compost just that!"

Floggy Manbun, May, 2021: "I did not believe Trump about intelligence showing the virus came from a Wuhan lab that specialized in making such viruses because he never identified the source, and I would never believe unidentified sources!"

LOL! Take a step back, and look at your damn fool self.

You, a person with family members recently infected with Covid, posting an article suggesting that we have already achieved herd immunity. How separated from reality can you get?

Well, he's a doctor you know. Not the 59-genders type of doctor. But you don't listen to real doctors.

My family members got COVID, indeed. Now they have natural immunities. 3 of 4 of us have natural immunities. And as the educated, intelligent doc said, likely 50% of us have natural immunity to it. Sound reasoning from a sound, trained mind. Maybe I haven't gotten it because I'm one of the tens of thousands who had COVID and never showed symptoms or had mild symptoms we wrote off as something else.

Your "scientific" (ahem) community has chosen to ignore natural immunity. That's the equivalent of ignoring one of the 2s in 2+2.

Over half of Americans are now vaccinated. And our cases have dropped to March 2020 levels or below. Add in the natural immunity levels and where we are with cases and deaths and hospitalizations and well....your love affair with Rona is just about over brah. It hurts, I'm sure.

More great news Hypoflog!!!!

What are you talking about? Not long ago you were arguing that we’d never see daily new cases in the hundreds. Pick an argument and stick with it.

And you can’t simply add people with natural immunity to those that have been vaccinated. They aren’t mutually exclusive, not by a long shot.

Covid is coming to an end thanks to those who got vaccinated. If everyone was like you and your family, this country would be in another surge.

I only get a glass when I'm out on business. At home, I'm a Laphroig and Ardberg man. I love the Islays. something about that peat smoke. mmmm.

I never argued we wouldn't see cases in the hundreds. I argued against YOUR ARBITRARY statement that when and only WHEN we get to hundreds of cases would you support getting rid of masking/lockdowns.

Second, I've already schooled you over and over that those who have had the virus are equally as protected from future infection as those who have been vaccinated. Scientists have studied and proven this. I'm not reposting articles you won't again read.

COVID is coming to an end due to vaccinations + natural immunity....mankind's greatest defense against virus and disease

You should really cool it with that ****. I've seen you pull this bullshit before. You really know nothing about the man or his family, which you've crossed the line with before.

The issue isn’t whether natural immunity is equal to the vaccine. The issue is how long natural antibodies last. Your contention that they last forever and people who have had Covid would never need vaccinated is nonsense.

We’ve had people with natural immunity for well over a year. The pandemic didn’t start coming to an end until vaccinations ramped up.

What have I said about them other than their Covid status that Tim himself shared?

Go find a single post where I've said it lasts forever.

I'll wait....forever..

I'm not going to waste my energy digging up your bullshit, but "Covid kid" (or something ****** like that) just for starters.

What? That makes no sense. The pandemic is starting to come to an end because of the total numbers, not because vaccine immunity is better or lasts longer than natural immunity. It might be, or the reverse might be true. Nobody knows.

That promise deserves its own thread. If only the fuckery it has caused by not fulfilling the prophecy.

I suggest we have a mod, perhaps an appendix-less mod, create a sticky thread. Called "Where's my Macallan?" or "#GLDNM Amphibians Welch"

OMG! The whole “Why should people who have had Covid still get vaccinated” argument is based on natural antibodies NOT lasting forever. What have you been arguing?

Good lord, this is like having a discussion with someone in a special needs class.

We don't know what we don't know. We don't know how long natural immunity lasts. We do know, based upon current studies that are limited to about a 1 year time span, that those who have had the virus appear to be as protected as someone who's had the vaccine.

Until time passes and more studies are done, we aren't going to know how long natural immunity lasts. If annual booster shots will be needed. There's lots to learn.

AS OF TODAY and what we know, if you have had Covid, you do not need the vaccine. Will that change in 6 months? Perhaps. We will likely know more then. And in 6 months we will know more about the vaccines, perhaps Novavax will have theirs released, etc.

The most enviable people on the planet in my opinion are those who have had COVID, especially recently, and haven't been vaccinated. They get the option of waiting for the science on COVID to mature, for study results on immunities, tests, etc and the ability to make a more informed future decision.

Regardless, when we learn what we learn through science and studying, no one expects you to follow it. Any recent learnings on Covid that go against your Covid religion you follow will be ignored and treated as heresy.

"Buh, buh, buh, in March 2020 Fauci said!"

It's really not. This is from the CDC's website: "Yes, you should be vaccinated regardless of whether you already had COVID-19. That’s because experts do not yet know how long you are protected from getting sick again after recovering from COVID-19."

They don't know. What they do know is that at this point: "Even if you have already recovered from COVID-19, it is possible—although rare—that you could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 again."

So the fact that reinfection is still rare tells us that the antibodies (or T-cells, whatever is giving people natural immunity) are lasting at least a year. Could be longer. Could be forever.

Know what else they don't know? How long immunity from the vaccines last. Hence the possibility of boosters or even annual shots.

Know what else is possible, although rare? Getting covid after getting the vaccine.

Personally I would feel quite comfortable not being vaccinated after having covid. The only reason I got the vaccine is to be able to do things vaccinated people are allowed to do because our stupid governments are not following the science on natural immunity. And to help get the vaccine numbers up so we can go back to living normal lives. In terms of my own health I wouldn't have bothered because all evidence to this point shows that my natural immunity is at least equal to what is currently known about vaccine immunity.
