Republicans are in Cleveland this week to officially name Donald Trump as their nominee for the presidency. Up next will be the Democrats, who will hold their convention to pass the mantle to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The Democratic National Convention will be held in Philadelphia Monday, July 25-Thursday, July 28.
Events will kick off Monday with First Lady Michelle Obama and Sen. Bernie Sanders speaking on the theme "United Together." The gavel is expected to drop at 3 p.m. EST.
Tuesday's keynote speaker will be former President Bill Clinton with featured speakers from Mother's of the Movement. The Mothers of the Movement participating include Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner; Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin; Maria Hamilton, mother of Dontré Hamilton; Lucia McBath, mother of Jordan Davis; Lezley McSpadden, mother of Michael Brown; Cleopatra Pendleton-Cowley, mother of Hadiya Pendleton; Geneva Reed-Veal, mother of Sandra Bland.
The theme for Tuesday will be a "A lifetime of fighting for children and families." Events will start at 4 p.m. EST.
Wednesday, with the theme "Working Together," will feature President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. The two will address the "high stakes in this election and how Hillary has the experience and steadiness to bring people together to tackle the big challenges and get results," according to the DNC website.
Events will start at 4:30 p.m. EST.
The candidate herself will speak Thursday on the theme "Stronger Together." Also addressing the crowd will be the Clinton's daughter, Chelsea.
Clinton's address will center on "her belief that we are stronger together and that America is at its best when we work together to solve our problems."
Additional speakers will be announced in the coming days.
The big question remaining for Democrats is who will be Clinton's running mate. Republican Donald Trump announced his VP pick, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, just ahed of the GOP meeting in Cleveland but Clinton's has not indicated a time for her selection to be made public.
