I agree with everything, but the guns part. That will never work on a national scale. Only the leftist cities and states. The free ones which account for 26 states with no concealed weapons permit needed would never go for that.
You would be hard pressed to find any law enforcement to enforce that. They're as pro Second Ammendment as you'll find.
Thank God I have no guns and they terrify me. I hope, hope, hope, hope, HOPE I get an alert from the government about the gun pickup so I am not outside and accidentally see those brave public servants picking up the implements of death.

I haven't seen any evidence, thus far, to make me think people would band together in a big enough way to stop a gun grab. Sure, you would see some individual acts of violence, or a small group of "extremists" being snuffed out by the military for "taking up arms against America". But mostly when faced with death or prison, most would hand over the guns. See, if the government is smart, they will get the guns when our lives are still comfy and good. Fat and happy people don't fight back much.
And don't fool yourself thinking law enforcement or military wouldn't go along with it. I've seen enough over the years to say to the contrary. Something about putting on a uniform and having authority over others that makes them feel superior and just in every right they violate. So many in that position love to crack skulls. Absolutely want to use all that gear they train with. All of them? No. But most will follow orders. And I don't think it will happen next week but, I expect to see it in my lifetime. Hope I'm wrong.

Don't be so sure about that S4E. I think Boot is spot on. Most people talk a big game untill da man be at the door. When faced with dire consequences, the mood changes and capitulation seems like the more favorable road to take. You know darn well that indictments mean nothing. Many former politicians committed crimes for which they were never going to pay legally. Many political opponents have been brought to trial - legally, or just the court of public opinion - when in fact they did little to warrant it. It's the nature of the slime of politics.
