"Canada would always beat the hell out of me when we got together to play Madden Football. That's why I hired him. I could tell right off he was a genius... I don't understand why it is not translating to the field..."

The thing is, these OL cannot win 1-on-1 ... at all it seems.
I went back and re-watched all the offense from the last 2 games. I got convinced that 1. Ben is a problem. Ben
HAS open TEs in the middle <for all of about 4 yards downfield!?> but refuses to throw to them. Call him Check-Down Charlie this year i guess. And 2. the worst part is: Ben isn't the biggest problem. Canada is just
KILLING this team. The mish-mash, ****** up flood routes, do anything and everything from any formation plays that are being called are just in...sane. They're insane.
You just cannot call 3 levels of crossing routes all to the short side of the hashes on 3/4 and 12. It's too fricken easy for the D to defend. You can't call a long inside-out X fade with a TE flat and RB screen. It's just a fricken crazy mess of a call. None of it makes any sense.
Moreover, the lineman are asked to do everything they are bad at. And asked to do
ONLY what they individually are bad at.
If it's a hand-off running play - Moore & Dot are asked to run out and seal LBers and DTs on an inside-zone scheme. They suck. Najee gets killed after 1 yard. If it's a dive/ delay running play - Green and Turner are asked to drive 1 and 3 techniques backwards. They suck and of course, Najee gets killed. If it's a pass, Dot & Green are asked to 1-on-1 handle a 5 or 3 technique bull rush. They su_ _ - well, you get the idea.
The only way to fix this **** is to take the whistle away from Canada.
Give it to Mike Sullivan. Tell Mike to bench Dot & Green - they are the weakest links with Chuks gone. Then put in Finney & JC respectively. At this point you start calling the outside zone running scheme while convincing the lineman that they don't have to win - they just have to wash their guy out or into the lane next to them. Najee just needs maybe 8 inches of daylight - he's that special of a running back.
I think if the Steelers bench Dot & Green, replacing them will relieve the pressure up the middle that is ******* with Ben's head right now. It'll also become apparent that the Steelers are no longer an up-the-middle running team. But that might be a blessing rather than a curse.
