With all the flack the guy has taken he really deserves a lot of credit with this team coming back and winning 5 straight and putting them in great position half way through the season. You can’t sit back and bash him when things are going bad and not say anything when things go well. Under all the circumstances between Bell and Brown this season and definicies on defense he sure has done a remarkable job. I will be the first and say I definitely was questioning his leadership and ability to put the team in position to be Super Bowl contender. He has proven me wrong and can only hope that we ride this out all the way. Once the Bell situation is finally resolved we can get rid of the elephant and finally get back to just talking football.

I’ve been a big Tomlin critic, but he has this team hitting on all 12 cylinders right now.

Absolutely he does.....

Was going to start a similar thread, but more specific for Tomlin having this team thoroughly prepared to play their fiercest division rival and 4 days later play the most elusive QB in the league.
Tomlin had this team prepared.. If we drop these games, that is all we would have heard about, that Tomlin did not have the team prepared.

The team was prepared, and we laid down the smackdown last night and throttled the Rats....

Hell yes he deserves credit......

Rock on Shades........

He usually wins the tough games. And loses the easy ones.
Watching last night I kept asking myself why tomlin kept Haley around for so many years. What a waste?

I feel like Tomlin deals with adversity well for the most part. I find he has a bit of a hard time controlling them in when things go well. ie. The loss to Jax last year. And all the bullshit social media stuff. But I definitely have to say that considering the start, the middle third is wildly surpassing my expectations.

He does take a lot of flack, and I too have been critical. I agree he is doing a great job this year. We expect Championships and he will again be judged this year overall based upon our playoff performance.

From the outside my honest opinion of Tomlin is that he is a very good leader of men. And a lot of coaches really are that. I would say that Bill Belichick is a shity leader of men. He's a ****** gobot/ robot. However, Tomlin isn't the x's and o's guy that someone like Belichick is either. And Saban falls into that category too. I think players would give their all for a guy like Tomlin. HOWEVER, Tomlin needs top flight position coaches and coordinators. People who can solve the problems that he identifies schematically. I really hope Fichtner is that guy. Personally, I don't think Butler is. His problems seem to get solved by player personnel more than scheme.

I am still wondering why Tomin has the team off till Wednesday, possible to keep away from the Bell soap opera. I still believe we may be taking the Jags to softly just because we have been on a winning run, we have had our problems playing in Jacksonville.

Reading between the lines, you're saying Tomlin with his experience as a college assistant, NFL position coach, one year as a Defensive Coordinator and 12 years as an NFL Head Coach is not bright enough to understand the X's and O's and needs others to hold his hand so that he can "Rah Rah" the team to victory? If that's true, it's working exceedingly well in the regular season during his tenure and those "X's and O's" guys have failed him miserably during the playoffs. Now, admittedly there are not many guys who are as proficient with the X's, O's, cameras and microphones as Belicheat. However, I don't think one becomes the HC of the Pittsburgh Steelers without knowing a little something about schemes, etc.

My issue with Tomlin coached teams has been their losses at critical times to inferior teams. By that I mean, they'll get on a roll like they are now and have a **** game against a team like Oakland, Miami, etc. Quite honestly, I feel that the Jax game next week will be a bigger test of where this team is now than the game they played last night. Jax is a talented team that's playing ****** this year. Historically, whether it's Cowher or Tomlin, our teams have not played well against Jacksonville. We're coming off a mini-bye after two games that should have the players feeling good about themselves. All things that have indicated that Steelers teams of the recent past are going to have a let down game. I want to see if they come out prepared (coaches and players) or if the recent trend continues and they have that let down. If they come out prepared, it's a statement that they are a more mentally tough team than in previous years. I'd like to see that. If they come out flat..... It's not a dooms day scenario, but I don't think I'll be taking them as seriously as I'd like to.

I’ve criticized the hell out of Cool Shades but as I said last week in another thread, credit given when credit earned.
The man has done a good job of turning things around and keeping the boys focused and it obviously shows.
He gained a lot of respect from me when he said we need volunteers not hostages. Great message sent to the team Coach Tomlin. He’s essentially saying stick it to Bell we’ll win with who is here.

It was never Tomlin's decision to hire OR fire TH begin with. Rooneys made that call. We will never know what MT would have done. But we KNOW Ben wanted Todd out at the end of the 2016 season. It couldn't have been more obvious.

I think all three coaches deserve praise. Especially Randy.

I need to see what Tomlin does in the playoffs before I throw out too much praise. He does get some, as well as some of the blame for ****** starts.

Not sure he really is a X and O coach. Based on his playoff failures.

He never seems to adjust to what is in front of him.

We will see if that changes this year. A lot of football left to be played.

I think the term raw raw is a major oversimplification. You can't raw raw these guys. But you can be consistent, smart, good at talent evaluation and ****** ruthless when required. That is what is required of a leader of men. However, I firmly believe he requires the correct x and o guy because I don't believe that is his fortay.

He also didn't get a chance to hire the GM. Tomlin sucks, he should quit since he doesn't have final say on personnel...

When he sucks he sucks. When he doesn't he doesn't.
