Tomlin Deserves Credit

With all the flack the guy has taken he really deserves a lot of credit with this team coming back and winning 5 straight and putting them in great position half way through the season. You can’t sit back and bash him when things are going bad and not say anything when things go well. Under all the circumstances between Bell and Brown this season and definicies on defense he sure has done a remarkable job. I will be the first and say I definitely was questioning his leadership and ability to put the team in position to be Super Bowl contender. He has proven me wrong and can only hope that we ride this out all the way. Once the Bell situation is finally resolved we can get rid of the elephant and finally get back to just talking football.

Pretty much.

The team is past Bell being a distraction to the point of forgiveness if he returns.
The mindset is all football now.

We're all in.
Here we go Steelers!

:herewego:

oh, he wasn't sharing, he, personally, without consulting his 50-year NFL veteran DC, made those picks and shoved them down said DC's throat. Oddly, when that DC left, he hired a few of those ****** players he didnt want.

Somehow with the same GM, the defensive draft picks turned to at least 50% **** after Shades arrived.

Here is a game we should win, yet we aren't going to practice till Wednesday. Giving this team off what message is sent , hey you guys are great and then fall on their faces or you played two great games get rested up for the end?

Damn they need to heal up dude. 2 NFL games in 5 days takes its toll......Take a chill pill

IDK Ron, with the exception of 2008, I think Colbert had similar drafts before and after. Yeah Ben and Troy will be HOF, but there still a chance a couple post KC/MT drafts will see one.

Yep, some did. Some did not. There were some **** ones before that, too ,though .

Just noting that Coach says KC is the one saving Tomlin, which i think is silly.

Is it possible that Cowher, being an established HC, and having won a power struggle with Donahoe had more say in the draft than Colbert? Is it possible that Colbert's influence increased when Cowher retired and a young, first time Head Coach was brought in to replace him? Is it possible that LeBeau, being the retained "Architect of 3-4 Zone Blitz" was given more say in regards to the type of player he wanted when Tomlin, versed in the 4-3 Cover 2 system was brought in? Nah ... Couldn't be.
And Ron, I know I'm being a smart *** here. It's all in fun. Any, all or none of the things I mention above could have happened. We'll never know until "Coach Cool Shades, A Football Life" airs.

I am far from a Tomlin fan butt damn right he deserves a ton of credit. We are playing incredible football and may be the best team in the NFL along with the Saints. He is doing what we all want, the Steelers to win and hopefully keep winning when it matters most in January and February. I would love him to make me eat a ton of crow and shut me up forever..

If we beat the cheaters in Dec and win the SB, I promise never to criticize Tomlin again.

I've said before that the team's best move would be to put a $1 million bonus in Tomlin's contract for beating Belicheat and Br*dy.

Tomlin has definitely turned the team around after a piss poor start. Now they have to maintain that momentum and not lose against a lesser opponent; December is going to be a very tough month for us with our schedule.

I'm ready to declare Tomlin a genius.
He benched Burns and blitzed the linebackers more. No one could have foretold we needed to do that! Brilliant!
The o-linemen and Conner are playing their ***** off. Brilliant!
Ben and AB are Hall of Famers. Juju is a damn good young player. Vance McDonald is the most exciting Steeler tight end weapon since Eric ******* Green. They're kicking some *** out there. Brilliant!
Maybe next we'll see Vince Williams not covering wide receivers, along with not wasting possessions with consecutive handoffs to Ridley! More brilliance to come?

One thing I want to mention about coaching, was Tomlin's Personnel decisions this past week. He killed it.

It was a short week with Conner coming off a big game with a lot of touches. What do they do? They develop a game plan to make Ridley and Samuels more involved, to limit Conner's touches on a short week. Conner did suffer a concussion, but it wasn't due to wear and tear. Smart move to limit your bell cow, on a short week, to preserve him for the playoff run.

I also like him treating the 4th QTR like a preseason game. The game was out of reach, protect the stars, get your backups some well needed playing time, and everybody wins.

Well, not to be contrary, but let's keep in mind that the slow start and recent success also has something tondo with Ben's throws. Recently, throws have been less likely to be off target. Other players have improved their performance, too.

SBWHCMVLT was coaching fine earlier in the year too (there were some good and bad decisions all through the year). Execution by the players has improved the results, IMO.

Uhuh

Ben's yearly babied in preseason approach = rusty = slow start.

I will let you figure out who is responsible for changing that routine up............

Coaches get too much credit when teams win, and too much blame when they lose. Is Belichick a terrible coach because they got the **** kicked out of them by Tennessee yesterday, and he lost to the bum *** Lions this year? It comes with the job, but no coach is winning anything significant without the players to do so. The Steelers look a Hell of a lot better the last couple weeks than they did the first couple. Some of it is scheme, game plan and match ups, and some of it is players getting the job done. The only issue I usually have with the coaching is how passive they get sometimes and don't play to finish teams off. Defensively if we aren't coming after the QB we are in deep ****. For whatever reason, recently they are doing both so I'm good. If we can stay healthy I like our chances.

Maybe, maybe not. other QBs who didn't play in the preseason didn't have the same issues and some who did had the same issues. On the whole, I'd rather have Ben not having any preseason snaps and getting it in gear now, than taking a beating in preseason.

It's pretty brutal:

Pats
Saints
Chargers
Bengals

I guess the most common of all sense now qualifies as mensa.

A fine line, because the slow start can hinder you at the end of the season...

Home v Chargers. Never been a Rivers fan but they are playing very well. That's a dangerous team
Road v Raiders. If memory serves me correct, we have not won a game in Oakland since the 90s.
Home v Cheats. Always a tough game. They neutralize our defense with their spread offense very effectively.
Road v Saints. They're scorching every defense they see right now.
Home v Bungles. This one depends on whether we are still playing for a bye week or not. If we aren't playing for a bye week then you'll see Dobbs and Mason likely split the two halves to get some reps with Conner not dressing.

Ben's slow start wasn't limiting him in preseason. It was his elbow injury in the Cleveland opener. Took him a month to recover, but the line kept him clean, and his arm is back to 100%.

True.

It really, boils down to whether you think a few more preseason snaps would have gotten ben playing better a couple games earlier. You think it does. I'm not so sure. At the very least, not sure enough i take that risk.
