If he starts to win playoff games again, no one will care what his genetic make up is, and if any of the factors that you express lead to that, then I'm all for it.

Ben wasn't responsible for talent acquisition. Colbert was.
And, if we're being honest, the quality of even his free agent acquisitions didn't exactly wow folks. Except for possibly last year. But, the last 10 years of Colbert's tenure didn't bring anything like the talent brought in this year.
Maybe it's Weidl. Maybe it's Kahn. Maybe it's Tomlin finally being free of Colbert. Who knows? It could be all three; or maybe just luck this year. We'll see if a pattern develops though.

I'm going to assume that no one on this board is a professional football player in the NFL. As for myself, I'm of European decent, too old to play and never had the talent to play at anywhere near this level even when I was young. I am still human however, so my first consideration in signing with any team would be the compensation involved, followed by the teams success on the field, then possibly the environment of the city that my family would be living in. Mike Tomlin, being a "players coach" would certainly factor into the decision, but wouldn't be in my top 5 reasons. If this were true, why doesn't every free agent sign with the Steelers at a reduced rate?

That's what new NT Benton told reporters what Tomlin told him. Tomlin didn't deny, but said he will talk to him about being more savvy with reporters.
I criticize Tomlin a lot.....but absolutely love this. Exactly what I believe. Stop running around teams and just roll over them.

But you are parsing words here. He had a conversation with a guy and meant he wants monsters. Then the guy relayed it to media and he isn't wrong but he also knew what Tomlin meant.

I think Colbert fell into the trap of trying to be the smartest guy in the room and was overthinking things.

I have no problem with Jet sweeps IF they are used properly to counter a defensive tendency or take advantage of it. They can also be used to setup future misdirection. The problem isn't Jet Sweeps it is the timing and idiotic usage of them at the wrong moment with the wrong player.

i don't mind 's gig - the outside passing game. i just think he aught to play & draft the guys who fit that scheme.

when you draft & play Kendrick Green on the inside zone - you tell the slot & dime DB's that you dont care about threatening the middle of the field, at all.
When you draft & play Pickens and you cannot be bothered to even dress Austin III when he gets healthy, your telling the safeties that, f*ck it i don't care to keep you honest even toward the hashes nor the corners toward the flats since i'll just take the godd*mn double-team on the outside.

The outside game works on speed and by keeping the safeties from playing quarters and Cover 2 all-day, but is inviting that sh*t by using players that suck at threatening either of those things.

You know back in the day, they made Kordell Stewart use an almost entirely outside passing game, because they didn't trust him to throw over the middle. Do they not trust Kenny to throw over the middle? Did they not trust Ben to throw over the middle? It doesn't make sense.
