I just saw we are 29th in overall defense, and of course we are the highest paid defense in the league, sounds historic to me…
it was somewhat disappointing to see Ramsey trailing WRs around the field and into the endzone with plenty of yards after catch.......memories of Minkah the past couple seasons.

Man, I just look forward to Sunday cuz the Patsies better watch out! Tomlin will move TJ around, have him right next to Sawyer on the left side, NO THE RIGHT SIDE, no left side again, so defenses have to pick their poison, and have 3 true DL on the field on 1st and 2nd down to stuff the run, and have Jaylen Warren toting the rock at least 20 times through gaping holes for big gains, and pass after pass over the middle of the field to a wide-open Freiermuth and Washington.

You watch. The changes are coming and the hell is being unleashed!!

Tomlin speaks to media before Patsies game

Just you wait and see. The entire team will be different!!

Yup he had that pick but was toasted for a long gain too. Although Ramsey is still probably the least of their worries on that defense

can anyone translate the first part for me?
Apparently the pink eye you've contracted is impairing your vision. Avoid Lloyd can translate what I said. He's the last one that drew on you. That's why he's laughing about it.

I’m not an advocate of PFF at all. I listened to one of their guys on why Rodgers was ranked so low vs the Jets and it really didn’t make much sense.
He said in that game Rodgers didn’t have any splash throws that there was really nothing special about him in that game. Also, that he almost threw an interception. The guy that was saying this played college ball at Kansas like that’s some big deal. It’s bs and most know it.
The only reason I mentioned it in my post to begin with is to highlight Broderick Jones’ poor play which he is playing badly.
Unfortunately a lot of analysts and such take stock in PFF. Wonder how they rate Tomlin?
Thats good reason should be nothing but **** talk btw fantasy football fans. 200 plus yards 4 Tds plus 100 QBR. that's a winning Qb performance. Anything else is my feelings about it.

Go guzzle some more Tomlin jizz and reflect on the fact everyone hates you and sees you for nothing more than comic relief here troll

His at least .500 isnt ending this year. The greatest chance of that happening was when he was stuck with Hodges and Rudolph in his QB room. You'll never see a worse combo of QBs then that although PIckett, Trubisky, and Rudolph were pretty close. If it didnt happen with Hodges/Rudolph its never happening.
Dude, if you watched those first couple games and truly believe that, you need a random ******* drug test. The defense can't stop a good college team right now. Seattle is *** and they got manhandled. Believe what you want, the OL is pathetic too. You win games up front; on both sides of the ball, we are pathetic. You want to run your mouth/ Put some money on it. otherwise, keep your blind loyal nonsense to yourself. I've been on this site for over 20 years; your newbie *** opinion means ****. Carry on though.

He's new and is an incompetence defender. Some of us have been here for more than a decade. I call it like I see it. Tomlin is a joke, just putting a rookie out there on kick returns when he doesn't know any kickoff is a live ball? THAT is coaching.

There are a lot of wonderful advanced stats... PFF has few of them...

They'll be like, tom Brady just threw for 150 yards and 2 picks in a loss and some other QB threw for 400 yards and 4tds in a win, but Brady was the better Qb because we liked his decision making better, despite not having any clue what the reads were supposed to be...

Cry about it. You're telling people when they can and cant respond on a message board now?? Grow up. Your little petulant rant isnt going to age well. I acknowledge that their pathetic at this point in the season, yet their 1-1. It doesnt mean it can't or won't turn around at some point. I'm basing my prediction on 18 years of experience to tell me they won't have a losing season. What are you basing yours on?

You keep crying about a Rookie being put in position to fail returning kicks and not knowing the rules. He most certainly knew the rules because the rule that caused the boneheaded play in question is not exclusively a NFL rule. Its something you learn in peewee football on up.

Forget a "Landing Zone". Its irrelevant. Everybody and their momma knows that if you touch a ball in the field of play (on a kickoff or punt) and muff it you either have to recover the ball or make sure it goes out of bounds before the opposing player(s) recover it. That's not a coaching issue. That's a football IQ issue. That same rule applies whether its Peewee, JFL, high school, college , or pro so how can you blame coaching for that?? Im not even remotely a fan of Danny Smith, but im not going to blame him for a rookie (or any player) having a obvious brain cramp.

NoBrain#7, I gotta tell you Steeler Nation preferred NoBrain#1 through 6.

And it's "they're," contraction for "they are."

Johnson plainly believed he had not touched the ball. In fact, he was in a better position to know that than anybody else. Therefore, his genius in just standing around as the ball was in the endzone before being recovered by the Seahawks was indeed a lack of knowledge of the rules, i.e., lack of coaching.

You called Broderick Brandon in another post. Stfu.

...and there's no way he didnt know he touched that ball. Are you serious right now?? ...or, are you just trying to be as stupid as he is?? There's not a single quote or interview where he claimed he didnt know he touched it so why try and assume he didn't???

This is exactly how Tomlin apologists operate. He’s absolutely referring to how a simply a non-losing season would be good enough for him and be all the ammo he needs to shut all the “haters” up. Who cares if they get smacked in the 1st round of the playoffs?? Look how he overcame this and this! Every year a different set of excuses is made for him…

This is how Tomlin has reshaped the standards of this franchise to mediocrity from winning Super Bowls and deep post season runs amongst his supporters and Art Rooney II

No surprise, you disrespect Broderick's brother.

Word of advice, Tomlin's Mom: avoid castigating the intelligence of another person by way of a comment rife with basic spelling or grammatical errors.

Go ahead and post the link where he said, "Yeah, I touched it" or "I was just hoping nobody noticed I touched it."

Oh, and you probably did not know that before the revised kickoff rules in the NFL and the current rule for college kickoffs was/is that a kickoff that goes into the endzone untouched is a touchback.

Article 3 - Ball Declared Dead

A live ball becomes dead and an official shall sound their whistle or declare it dead:

c. When a touchdown, touchback, safety, field goal or successful try occurs; or when a free kick or a scrimmage kick that is untouched by Team B beyond the neutral zone touches the ground in Team B’s end zone (Rules 6-1-7-a, 6-3-9, and A.R. 6-3-9-I).

So the two options are:
  • Johnson touched the ball, knew he touched it, knew the ball was live, knew he needed to cover it to avoid a turnover, but instead ignored it rolling into the endzone in the hopes that nobody noticed and he could get away with one.
  • Johnson did not touch the ball and erroneously believed that the old NFL rule and the college rule he played under the year prior applied and a ball that rolls into the endzone untouched is a dead ball and a touchback.
The VASTLY more likely explanation is that he did not touch the ball and erroneously believed the ball was not live when it went into the endzone because that is the rule he played under his entire life before Sunday. It's called Occam's Razor. That shows it was a player error AND a coaching error.
