Tomlin still sucks

Better question- What is a franchise QB? B/c the 4 guys you name put up waaay more points than Ben.

Even better question- How many coaches have had a significant better winning % over the past 7 years?

John Harbaugh has only missed the playoffs once with freaking Bert as he QB.

I'm not sure if "just about anyone else" could have coached those Steelers teams to those Super Bowls, but it's largely indisputable that Tomlin inherited a hell of a foundation with Roethlisberger, Lebeau and that defense.

What's clear to me is that the defensive personnel has gotten progressively worse under Tomlin and, despite multiple line coaches and coordinators, the Steelers' offensive line has remained, well, offensive throughout his 7+ year tenure.

Speaking to the motivational/leadership aspect, it is alarming how dependent Tomlin is on tired cliches to communicate. We fans are tired of listening to it. One can only speculate on how mentally taxing it has to be for the players to listen to that breathing, talking broken record every ******* day,

How does his communication to the press equate to how speaks or motivates the team?!?

And by the way, the vast majority of coaches speak in cliches at the press box- I find it hilarious that it makes some of you so mad.

Tomlin speaks in non sequitur verbal garbage, a dumb guy that reads the word of the day and mangles it into every conversation.

The 2008 Super Bowl run was against the most unimpressive opponents in history. The 8-8 Chargers, the Rats with a rookie QB and the 9-7 Cards and if not for the luckiest TD return in Super Bowl history we lose .

I don't mind coach speak. I just don't understand his horrible syntax or his inability to speak simply without shoehorning in words to make him appear more intelligent. The truth is it makes him look ignorant. I don't hold it against him and I've said very little about his words but it makes him look bad. Just keep it simple and forget all the "I want structure without the field of structure." and "You know we as coaches know that we are going to be judged by those calculated decisions that you make, but I think if you die, you die with your boots on”.

Maybe it's not an adequate sample size, but from all the NFL films audio I've seen from Tomlin on the practice field, sideline, and lockerroom, he communicates to the team in the same exact way.

And no, other coaches are not as dependent on cliche in their interaction with the press. They all do it, but not the same extent, or don't use the same ones over and over. One can anticipate 90% of what Tomlin is going to say, word for word, before he steps into the room. It's ridiculous.

The guy probably looks over his Thesaurus more than his team's playbook.

Lets throw out the term Franchise QB for a minute. Ben is a damn good QB with a huge track record. He clearly isn't consistent like Brady or Manning as was on display last night. but he is very good nonetheless. Heath Miller is a great football player and still looks good. Ike Taylor and Troy Polamalu certainly look like their best days if not good days are behind them. The rest is all Tomlin/Colbert's guys. From the coaching staff to the kicker. All of them. So if this team goes 9-7 or worse and misses the playoffs again in the weak AFC, someone tell me who else is responsible? What I see is when this team encounters a look that doesn't suit them particularly on offense, but increasingly on defense, they just can't adapt. Why is Todd Haley still here? Cause they finished strong last year with Ben going no huddle. Does that even make sense to anyone?

Bestest question.. If we all agreed that Jarvis and Tomlin sucked and needed to go.. Would FRanco keep making the posts that he does. I think he wants us to form a mob like in ferguson and storm the Steelers offices.

Yeah....but we couldn't control who we played in that playoff run and we did play a hell of a schedule that year,,,,,,I enjoyed the 2008 season immensley

I'll be more concerned in the regular season. I still think last night the Steelers were forcing things to certain people like Wheaton and trying not to get hurt. Seriously if the defense is that bad during the regular season this team won't win more than 6 games.

Agreed....to a point. AB was open all night and we would probably have been closer in score if Ben wasn't deliberately trying to get the other guys involved.

The D...though...good God. WTF happened there? I know there's no game-planning in the pre-season but holy Jesus...have some ******* pride.

Tomlin act is getting as stale as the defense

but maybe that's just me

Dumbass I ha e never once said to fire Tomlin. He is a weak POS coach who is screwing the Steelers and when it starts affecting the bottom line he will be fired. Not my call or concern.

See, youre all about denigrating this mans accomplishments..........staining anything hes done.....He makes it to the big game, you trash it because of the level of competition.......but guess what ? Its professional football....this isnt high school, junior collegiate or division 1 ball. Its the pros with elite talent. Why give a **** who you beat to get to the big game and win the big game. You wantin us to hand back the trophies because "coach is undeserving because he beat what i feel is inferior playoff talent ?" Its the ****** NFL son..the playoffs are a tournament, so if New England did make it to the conf championship game, not our fault. If Indy didnt make to the championship game, not our fault. You play/slay who stands in your way...

This argument youve introduced is total pre-adolescent bs and no one with a lick of athletic sense is gonna give you any sort of credibility.

Face it, nothin makes you happy in the Tomlin era, title won withstanding

About Tomlin being dumb....i do believe AndrewJosh posted a writeup on his scholarly accomplishments, and astute aptitude. He measures out to be quite brilliant actually. But you wouldnt see past your own extreme biasness and hatred for the man.

Do me a favor, the next time youre in a verbal discussion with an oppositions fanbase dont ever mention 6 titles......hold firm at 5, since the 6th one came with a Franco-imposed asterisk (since **** matters most when you build from the ground up w no cheating)

No doubt they were forcing things. I understand why they want to do that, but I don't like the strategy. Would rather see them simulate regular season conditions.

For what it's worth, Tomlin had the same routine and the same words at just about every training camp practice I've been to over the past couple of seasons. By no means is it behind closed doors, but nothing that I found particularly motivating or teaching based.

How do Tomlins balls taste you sanctimonious piece of **** ? Tomlin is a bad coach and the Steelers are suffering for it as a result. He is responsible for the fat, sloppy, lethargic and poorly coached product he has put out the last 2 years and the now 4 years since we won a playoff game. Stop sucking his dick and enjoy the new Steelers he is bringing us, I am

We have gone soft, but the game has gone soft and has been replaced with flag arena football. The product sucks ***. It sucks *** bad.

Tomlin is coaching a dream team in his mind that will magicly play great. LeBeau keeps trying to run a defense that needs all pros at every position. Along the way we are drafting dwarfs.

Warren Sapp - 2014 - "The Pittsburgh Steelers are too small"

One thing the Steelers have not adjusted well to is that fact that you are now drafting from a pool of mental midgets. These guys are just stupid, for the most part. Look at Bell and Blount. I don't give a **** if they smoke weed, but to do it an hour before you gotta get on a plane to Philly? And to smoke that much that a cop on a ******' motorcycle can smell it?

Every team in the league has the same issue. These guys are idiots. I will be shocked if another team wins back to back Super Bowls. These idiots cannot focus enough to do it. Nothing will make them, either.

Great point. If you ever watch hard Knocks on HBO you see the absolute stupidity of ,most players and the way coaches have to talk down to the knuckleheads to get them to grasp even the simplest of concepts.

Might want to check history a bit closer. The 1980 SB was a win over a 9-7 Ram team after wins over a bad Miami team and a Houston wildcard team. It was won late on what I guess you'd consider were 2 lucky bombs to Stallworth. I ain't given that one away any more than I am the 2008 win. I also do have to wonder what your qualifications are for considering Tomlin as dumb. Not something I've seen from his peers or people who know him well.

When I hear Tomlin say things as that is why we paly a second half ( as he talked to a announcer after half time) and we go three and out and the Eagles walk down the field for 6, I do have to wonder what kind of motivator and coach we have.
