Tomlin to Redskins Discussion Thread

I don’t know if I would want to see Cowher back as a coach, but maybe as a GM and head of ALL operations. That would mean we get rid of Tomlin AND AR2.
 
oh, and as for the main topic of this thread, sending tomlin to the redskins, all i have to say is

From what I've been hearing if Washington makes a play for Tomlin it would happen in the off season.
 
An x and o coordinator hungry for a head coaching opportunity should be everyone's only want.

But seriously, let’s be real here. Fact: Stephen A is a douche. Fact: Art Le Deuce wouldn’t fire a HC and break Steeler tradition. Fact: HCMT has too many ties to the Burgh right now to be picking up and relocating to the District even though the dough he’s getting from Clan Rhuneh he could afford to live in a 5 star and commute by private jet!

I mentioned this weeks ago on this board. My dream would be for Cowher to come back with complete autonomy as VP of Football Operations/GM and he hires the Head Coach and together they work in harmony on personnel decisions like Cowher and Colbert did in the past. The HC hires his staff without influence from the front office and owner with only Cowher adding his input at times.

And hell no I don't want Mike McCArthy as my HC to whomever said they wanted him. No ******* way Jose!

That would be my most ideal fantasy scenario! I doubt The Chin would want to give up that stress free lifestyle. One thing is for sure. The Steelers would get their identity back.
 
Coach Tomlin is amazing! How could we ever dream of trading him? No way!

But I guess if the redskins sent us their first round pick and maybe another, we’d have to consider that.. even if we don’t want to...

why do so many want Mike McCarthy here? Because is from the area? Maybe as a coordinator, but not as HC. You want someone young and fiery. He is anything but that. I like the DC from San Fran, Robert Saleh. If his defense continues to tear it up, he will be on the short list on a lot of teams.

3. Cowher wasnt a great evaluator of talent like noll was.
4. Retreads don’t typically work... as the redskins proved with their hof coach gibbs...

If it happens,............................ I'll always respect him (snyder) as making Tomlin the "one that got away". Doubtful anything seriously will happen. I've read of a few replacement but one thing for sure, and I quote "slash"... he needs to be an Xs & Os COACH. Definitely defensive minded and smart enough to find good coordinators, including making STs viable.

On his radio show several weeks ago, a caller asked him about the double standard with no ESPN outrage over AB using a racial epithet against Mayock. The caller extrapolated a step further in asking what the outrage level would have been had the player been white and a black GM with use of the N-word?

Stephen A gave a tortured Tomherian answer in immediately dismissing/ignoring the question and saying "I'm not going to make this about race..this is about AB" and that was that.

It's like Robert McNamara said, "you don't answer the question they asked you. You answer the question you WANTED them to ask."

The narrative is that Mike Tomlin is an outstanding football coach. It's just the results that let him down.

The same reason he will be retained here is because of not having Ben and this season is basically a wash. No losing record(yet) and he's a players coach. On the surface, he's a shiny garbage can. If he wants to overpay to obtain him, I'd listen.

let that man show of his coaches skills in washington.

Haha. Sure. Redskins fans are screwed. You can’t fire an bozo owner. Let him trade for Tomlin. Redskin fans might think Mikey had something to do wining. More like he prevented it.

Tomlin would flop harder than Levon Bell on the Jets.

why not use the 4-3 here we have the personnel you could he if he wants to run the 4-3 he could easily do this

Tomlin doesn't want to use 3 DL let alone 4. He wants 2 DL. See 4 > 2. That means no to the 4-3.
 
Here’s a name that nobody is talking about to replace Tomlin but Munchak. Knows the Steeler organization. Knows most of the current players strengths and weaknesses. Former HC. Respect of players.
