Slash I hear you! I have to admit and own up here that I was a big advocate for bringing Mitch in and thought he’d be a really good pick-up. Obviously I was wrong!Hey it was a roll of the dice. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't.
I don't blame anyone for giving him his shot, but now that the known isn't an unknown... I blame them for not making that change.
Physics proves it's much easier to run downhill, like we saw last nightHelp a brother out here.
So if the defense is tired from being on the field so much, wouldn’t the opponent’s offense be tired from running all up and down the field too?

Technically sound as they come. Good athlete. Probably only negative is average size.Yeah...still. It may be what they need. is Skoronski any good?
eh...they need a few Justin Strelczyk types on that lineTe

You do realize that the defense has been without the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the last two games, right? You do realize that TJ Watt's salary cap hit is $24.4 million, and his replacement makes 1/16th of that, right? Since you walk around with your eyes open? You do realize our D is the highest paid in the league and our offense I believe is the lowest in the league. Our D should be making big plays. I am not blaming all our woes on the D. Far from it. But I do walk around with my eyes open.
Why no. I never realized that at all. Thanks for letting me know. They’re really without TJ?You do realize that the defense has been without the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the last two games, right? Really? This defense is far from elite? Thanks for letting us all know that ground-breaking information. Why no. I never realized that at all. Thanks for letting me know. They’re really without TJ?
Not sure what you think isn't true. they are still the highest paid with TJ out.
My eyes were very open, when i saw the last 3 playoff games of over 40 points scored against
Were yours? I believe TJ played a few of those. I am sure you will be happy to correct me if I’m wrong.
And my post was certainly Not a TJ bashing post. You brought him in.
My point was I think this D is far from elite as a unit.
stop the run and any of the 3 QBs will be good enough
Look I realize it doesn’t “fix” the defense. It does make the defenses job a hell of a lot easier. Also by a leads I don’t mean 1 point, I mean at least 2 scores, not something we have seen often the last couple years. I don’t really disagree with the defense needing to improve but they also need to be put in better situations by the offense. They didn’t lose us this game but they could have won it for us. The offense lost the game by not scoring more in the second half. Every week they have faced the same issue and frankly have to be worn down already, particularly facing a run game like this on a short week after being dominated in time of possession two straight weeks prior. Partly their fault but heavily the fault of the offense to not sustain drives. Your best and most consistent run defense almost always correspond to a team having a ball control offense, playing defense takes a whole lot more energy than playing offense for the most part.Ok. Since you were going at it all game long and still continue. And it sounds like I am defending the offense. I am not. They have been **** before Canada. And continue to be the same.
1. Playing from behind this game
You do realize our team was up 14-13 at halftime. We then came out ,kept the ball for 10 plays and 5 minutes 27 seconds. So the D had all halftime plus the 5 minutes. To rest.
The Browns drive went for 14 plays 70 yards. Maybe the D needed more rest? Perhaps stopping a bloody 3rd down would have helped.
The Steelers then went 3 and out. Yes of course it would have been nice to get a drive happening
The Browns then went on a 11 play 80 yard drive. Consuming 6 min 35 seconds. Gee. Maybe stopping a bloody 3rd down might have got them on the sidelines. But according to you it’s all the offense. Remember the New England game when they kept the ball the whole last half of the 4th? Maybe stopping them on a 3rd down might have bloody well got them off the field.
In the first half the Browns had a 9,12 and 7 play drives. Maybe if they could have got a bloody 3rd down stop they could have gotten off the field.
You do realize our D is the highest paid in the league and our offense I believe is the lowest in the league. Our D should be making big plays. I am not blaming all our woes on the D. Far from it. But I do walk around with my eyes open.
I think it is as much scheme failures as actual blocking issues.Um run the ball too. It seems like eons ago they had a OL that could actually blow open huge holes my grandma could gain 5 yards on.
Now they've regressed to 1-2 yard runs on 1st&2nd downs.
Great ideaHe does. I am actually surprised he didn't use Josh Allen's trainer that fixed his mechanics issues. Allen was OK his 1st year but really worked on his mechanics issues and continues to do so and has become one of the very best in the NFL.

Mike Tomlin is a bad coach. He would have been a good coach in 1972 when defensive backs could wrestle with wide receivers and most NFL offenses were 4 yards and a cloud of dust, since his refusal to go for it on 4th down would fit right in, as would his obstinance in refusing to go no-huddle more than once when the outcome is in doubt, despite the fact the one time he went no-huddle the team scored a TD.
Hold on. Coaches in 1972 coached teams that could stop the run and run the ball. He can do neither. Coaches in 1972 had teams that were physically brutal and his teams are soft as microwaved butter. He would have been a terrible coach in 1972.
So to sum up, Mike Tomlin is a coach for the ages: terrible in 1972 and terrible today.
