Yeah not for Carter. I don't care for trading up in general having a lot of needs. Especially for a guy that comes with red flags. Really not worth the risk even if it is deemed minimal.I'm hoping they don't trade up. Stay where you are and the chips will fall. Only thing they could have done differently is not win out to end the year.
No reason to trade up for NT. They don't value the position and haven't drafted a true NT since Hampton, off the top of my head. That was 2001.Yeah not for Carter. Carter plays the 0, 1, 3 and 5 techniques. He is scheme diverse and can literally play up and down the line. If you watch the tape he is hands down the best player in this draft. I do understand the off the field concerns. I personally would see if he fell to 17. But according to Peter King we are in play to jump in front of the Eagles. Who after losing Hargrave won't pass on Carter. No chance. So if we want him Khan is probably right and we are going to have to go get him.No reason to trade up for NT. This is a fan dream. We needed to suck more last year so any trade up wouldn't be as costly to get this guy. The reality is we can't win a championship with swinging door Moore starting. They figured this out with Green, Moore is next to get replaced.Carter plays the 0, 1, 3 and 5 techniques. He is scheme diverse and can literally play up and down the line. I think if we stay at #17 LT is probably the pick. But if you compare Moore vs Chuks somehow Moore graded out better at pass pro than Chuks. Moore gave up more sacks but less pressures. And if you think about it a LT is protecting the blindside so a pressure is much more likely to result in a sack. And your LT is competing with the teams best pass rusher week in and week out and every play. So I could see the Steelers suring up RT with Jones and then protecting Moore with more chips and putting Freiermuth over there more as well. And I feel like we are going to be a run first team next year. That should protect KP from turnovers and help us win the time of possession battle. It will also protect Moore because the opportunities for an edge rusher to pin their ears back and not worry about run defense will be less than it was in 2022.This is a fan dream. Great point. The upgrade at LG should help Moore as well.Moore has more upside than Chuks. Moore is headed into his 3rd year and won't have to cover for the guy next to him anymore as Dotson should not be the starter moving forward. They could upgrade either T position but Moore definitely has a higher ceiling left and Chuks will always be a ho-hum RT (he sucks at LT).
The Steelers have drafted one of the best players in the draft several times over the past 50 years. Got four of them in the 1974 draft alone.I understand but when was the last time the Steelers had a shot at the best player in the draft? 50 years ago? Carter is a pug and play interior defender that probably ranked higher than the likes of Aaron Donald when entering the draft. The offseason issues have to be a concern but if Khan did pull the trigger only giving up our 2nd 2nd round pick and getting a 5th back in the process would be reasonable enough imo.
I think just about anyone makes that deal but I also think you are living on fantasy island if you think that is the price.I understand but when was the last time the Steelers had a shot at the best player in the draft? 50 years ago? Probably right, even though the so called point total corresponds with the article, to move up in the top ten for someone you "lust" for, they're gonna want more than the going price and both sides know it. Especially Chicago who may be a little butt hurt over their lust for Claypool and losing #32 to begin with.I think just about anyone makes that deal but I also think you are living on fantasy island if you think that is the price.
If you look next to the pick I put a value next to it. 1360 to 1381. A 98.5% equal.I think just about anyone makes that deal but I also think you are living on fantasy island if you think that is the price.
You're right Ford but I think the seller has leverage when you're trying to move up for someone worthy of a top ten selection and the buyer can't afford to sit on their hands and wait.If you look next to the pick I put a value next to it. 1360 to 1381. A 98.5% equal.
If the Steelers are desperate to move up then the Bears would have the advantage. If the Bears are desperate to move down then the Steelers would have an advantage. If both are content with moving or staying then the trade should be pretty fair. I believe a trade wouldn't happen until #9 is on the clock as the Bears might have a guy they are hoping falls and if so would not trade and in this scenario the Steelers would need to have Carter fall or they wouldn't be interested in trading up. It takes two to tango. You're right Ford but I think the seller has leverage when you're trying to move up for someone worthy of a top ten selection and the buyer can't afford to sit on their hands and wait.
I was thinking Carter could be a front. I personally think Christian Gonzalez is the target if they move up. Just an opinion nothing solid except they had a pre-draft visit right away and from all accounts he has been a top 10 pick for awhile now. He does check a lot of boxes. Under 21, great SPARQ, need position, predraft visit. The one box he doesn't check is power 5 schoo.Agreed that the deal won't happen until the Bears are on the clock if in fact it's the ninth pick they're focusing on. I also think that there's a possibility that it's not Carter they're after if the Steelers make the move, not ruling out an OT. It will certainly be interesting next Thursday.
Supe---I am down with that if they cant get Carter...Carter would be a nice addition to a DL that has seen tremendous gain this off-season.
that said, a better get would be Broderick Jones to protect last year's #1 pick.
I don't know about this but to move from 20 to 10 to get Bush it costed a second and a third. If you look next to the pick I put a value next to it. 1360 to 1381. A 98.5% equal.
