Trading Tomlin makes sense

Every year not in POs should count as 0-1 in playoff record.

If winning SBs is all that really matters, then the best indicator is PO record. Just being in the playoffs is not nearly enough.

So Tomlin's adjusted playoff record is 3-13 last 10 years, with each non playoff appearance clearly the same as a loss.

That, combined with a HoF QB in his prime, and 7 straight #1 picks on D is why Tomlin needs to be gone.

last year boswell cost us 2 games the ot week 1 and Oakland, if you injured tell staff on they put you on IR i think a off the street k would of made that missed fg in oakland nd we would of won in ot.
secondary was dreadful as well.

I always love it when the FG kicker is blamed for the loss. So,For example Big Bens 3 interceptions and 2 lost fumbles had nothing to do with that OT debacle? Could you perhaps blame that tie on turnovers?

That will give him time to load this team up and then when we get the new HC and 12 years later we Cana rogue he only won with Tomlin's players.

Salute the nation

Anyone winning with Tomlin's players would be more than what the man himself has done so far. Tomlin won with Cowher's players and only playoff wins in 3 seasons out of the last 10 since the core of those players left.

All great Steelers you. Funny discussion with too many things that hit the bullseye that have brought me to a crossroad in my love of the team I grew up on. TBH, I've hated this team for some years. Maybe I'm past my prime and the nfl just takes up so little space that my feelings on the matter just mean squat. I will say, my wife/kids can't believe I'm here. The nfl has been as much to blame as the ever underperforming shades. Cool.

So, the culmination of 50 years of my life lead me to comment here. Really if the Rats win the lwob it may help to kill the coty chatter about shades. Guys, I'm on the cusp of who gives a ****. Never thought I'd feel this way but if Tomlin is here next year the fat lady sings. Art deuce has no clue what grandad and dad built, and with the **** Goodel has transformed this into a WWE lack of character league, what the ***** the use.

Again, you're all great Steelers I've met since 1999. Best by far to learn all things love of Steelers. Oh and **** five wide.

My exact same feelings! I used to be so excited all year round, to the point my wife hated the Steelers because I allegedly give them more time than her. Before the internet, I used to stay up until 4-5am to watch the Steelers games, buy every magazine I could get my hands on to have the latest NFL/Steelers news, kept spreadsheets with the standings, etc... But Tomlin and Godell have totally changed that. My motivation has gone, I no longer look forward to the new season.

That would be the 10th season in 14 years that Shades failed to win a playoff game.

He's stacking 'em up like cord wood!

That percentage is awful compared to his peers.

And some people here were saying that Shades was the SECOND best NFL HC only a couple of weeks ago. Figure that out!!!!

I use the same formula when evaluating QB performances in the playoffs. Which is why Eli Manning is so overrated. Yes, his ACTUAL playoff record is very good, but he misses the playoff ALL THE TIME and that should not be used to "help make your playoff record look good" vs. a QB that at least gets to the dance, year-in, year-out.

I believe I can still think of a few remaining nuthuggers, Litos. They were out in full force when their hero was 8-5 and a media-infused COTY candidate. You just don't hear from them after his embarrassing stretches like the 0-3 finish to this season.

Yes, there were some prematurely insane posts about Shades currently being the 2nd best HC in the NFL, how shades deserved an apology for his fantastic work this year and how certain fans were closed minded fucktards if they didn't agree Shades had done a great job of keeping this team focused and motivated to play. Unbelievable!!!!

DAM IT HAPPENED. The response hired a new head coach. Ron Rivera. I'm guessing we're stuck with surprised eyes guy when our team is dragged up and down the field to another loss. HOPE ALL YOU TOMLIN HUGGERS WERE HAPPY WITH THE LAST FEW GAMES. FPR THE NEW YEAR LEARN THE GAME OF FOOTBALL. YOU MORONS.

I'm going to imagine the Steelers announce that Cowher is coming back. Ten year deal. Just so I can feel better for a while. Hey it can happen. HOW HUGH WOULD THAT BE? HOW LOUD WOULD HINES FIELD BE FIRST HOME GAME. Like it use to be, STEELERS FOOTBALL!!!!![emoji458] It's in my prayers every night.

As much as I loved Bill Cowher, the league has passed him by. I think a lot of us think back and remember how much fun the team was, not just because they were successful but the personalities where so much fun. Bettis jjumping up after a big run high stepping sideways. Ward lighting up a player and that big *** grin made you cheer even louder. Joey Porter, Levon Kirkland, Polamalu, the list goes on and on. We'll have a great team again in our lifetimes, I have faith in that. I'm just happy that my son can brag about those teams to his kids just as i was able to brag about the 70's Steelers to mine.

i can't hit the like button enough times on this one.

I like Cowher but it's time to move on from this day dream. We need a young coach with different ideas.

If Cowher was hired three years ago, this team would be better off now. While he isn’t a 10 year solution, he could be the next Dick Vermil.

I say we trade Tomlin to the Browns for a bushel of oranges. That way, we will always know that Cleveland will continue to live in mediocrity. No matter what talent they have, they will never go anywhere! Then perhaps, we will get back to the playoffs and the Super Bowl.

Tomlin on the "factory of sadness" cliche

"Like all factory workers, we are in a line...... We may not be at the front of the line but we are in the line no-less"

" look at my players to see how much factory worker experience they have, then we make POPcorn together"

"From my platform, I can see all those on the floor and it's nearing lunch time"

I don't what I am sick of more. Tomlin's actual cliches or people on the board making up stupid ones to mock Tomlin's. I use to listen to Tomlin's pressers all the time but they are just unbearable for me anymore.

I think we're at least as good and Josh Pray on YouTube is off the hook.

For your sake, I hope you didn't read or watch the season ending presser? I did a double take because I thought at first it was a SNL skit like the Superfans or political satire. This is the guy who "blew away" Rooney in an interview:

"MT: "We are about to begin that process with each guy individually and tailor programs to bring the best out of them and to gain some clarity about what the journey of improvement is going to look like, because that is how we collectively improve. At the appropriate time, we are going to analyze our schematics and our division of labor from a coaching staff perspective in an effort to do similar things. That’s a good component of it for us, to study the trends within the game, our place within those trends, whether we are on the right side of the curve or whether we are lagging. There is a lot of discussion to be had."

Yep, pulled from Jim Wexell's end of season article on the presser. That was Tomlin's authentic gibberish.
