I was at St Vincent back in the late 90s and I had a feminist psych professor. She referred to God as him/her/they etc etc. She would also wear a skirt and sit on her desk like a guy legs wide open. I don't know how she got away with any of that with the priests / monks but it was quite disturbing.
I’m guessing maybe that’s why she got away with referring to God using pronouns. No one paid attention.
