Trevor Lawrence knocked out

When a qb runs....as soon as a defender is apon him make it a rule the qb must slide....or say two hand touch.. The late slide is never good. Hurts the game.

17 going right after the defender reminded me when the Steelers OL and WRs went after the Carolina player who hit Ben years ago. Fans threw a water bottle at the Jag as he was exited and hit his teammate in the helmet instead.

That was ugly and the genius who is guilty of the dirty hit, Azeez Al-Shaair, has a history of dirty play. He had a dirty hit on Caleb Williams, punched a guy on the sidelines after that dirty hit, and had a dirty hit on Josh Allen.

Enough. Suspend the guy for the rest of the season and let him convince the league he has changed before he allowed back on the field.

Never like to see crap like this. Could have seriously injured this young man. I think a heavy fine and multiple game suspension is in order.

No, not a "multiple game" suspension - rest of season and obligation to prove he has changed before he can play again.

How many lives did Vontaze Burfict significantly harm before the NFL finally stopped his idiocy? Enough already.

They should just ban sliding. QBs slide late and a defenders natural instinct is to hit them. When you slide you are potentially exposing your head area and no way to protect yourself. If the defender hits you it's going to be the head area.

Trevor L is snakebit. Dude just gets hurt. That one looked bad.

If you want QB’s to be protected, then they should be banned from running, period, end of story. If they are going to run PAST the line of scrimmage, they should be considered a RB at that point, and not be offered any additional protection than a RB gets. This trying to offer different protections for different positions is discrimination, either the protection should be the same, or don’t offer it at all.

Or possibly that no tackling QB, but as soon as you get a hand on or touch any part of him (once past line of scrimmage) he is down.

No, any time they cross the line of scrimmage, they are either DOWN or a RB.

They aren’t going to eliminate the scrambling QBs completely. Your scenario essentially does that. NO owner wants their
40+ mil player at risk.

I hear what you are saying and going for, but reality is no way the investment is going to be put in danger of a possible season ending hit.

I’m not saying they will incorporate either yours’ or my scenario, but the odds they go with the one least likely to injure the huge investment.

With big rewards come big risks. These people want all the possible rewards without the risk.

Jeez, people, we see late QB slides every week. Seems everybody is able to avoid throwing a forearm at the QB's head except the guy who had a dirty hit on Caleb Williams, punched a guy for no reason immediately after that dirty hit, then had a dirty hit on Josh Allen before this dirty hit on Trevor Lawrence.

Maybe, just maybe - stay with me here - the problem is not the late slide or rule changes for a running QB or anything of that nature; maybe the problem is the dirty player.

This guy did throw an elbow to the head but Lawrence also slid late and that can create a dangerous situation. We are seeing more QBs do a fake slide to get cheap yards, or the fake out of bounds to make the defender slow down then keep going. Lamar does that one all the time.

They need to make it a penalty on the QB to fake slide or pretend to go out of bounds.

With so many QBs doing RPO stuff they should not be able to have it both ways, to take off like a RB then get a QB protection. I think that teams should have to declare before each game if they want the QB protection or not for each QB. You have it for Russ but not for Fields.

If they want the protection then when they leave the pocket, it's touch football for them as a runner. Same concept as the slide but more fair to the defense and safer for the QB.

If they don't want the QB protection, then they are treated as a RB when they break the pocket. No slide and if you run toward the sideline, you better go out or get lit up like a RB would.

If you are a defender pursuing a QB or any ball carrier and they drop low, your instinct is going to be to drop down to make the hit. Lawrence was 4/10 for 40yrds and an Int. I highly doubt the guy was purposefully trying to take him out. I just think the slide creates a dangerous situation. Alot of times you see defenders flying over sliding guys barely missing or grazing the sliding player.

He immediately shrugged in protest to a flag I think had yet to be thrown.
