UFA's

What do you guys think. Are we going to be good or are we heading for last place next year?
I have no idea how his development has gone but I think it's time to retool that team

Seriously though you guys think it’s time to go with Love?
Hell no. I would love ..

to tell you different. But can't so I won't.😁

So what you are saying is we cut chuks, draft skoronski, move Moore to RT and problem solved? Add a C/G in the 3rd or 4th round for depth to compete with Dotson/Cole and we are ready to rumble
I'm not saying they're going to cut Okorafor, I'm saying he's just about untradeable with his current contract. The Steelers won't eat over $6.1 million in dead cap to release him. He's serviceable, just not worth top 8 RT money, in my opinion.
If we traded him after the bonus hit, we would only save like 3 million but the other team would only be charged 6 million bucks for him…which after this year resets the market, is going to be really fair… we definitely paid him like a lower end LT. Its why if he gets replaced he is not going to stick around long…
If he's on the roster and collects that bonus, he'll remain a Steeler for the duration of the 2023 season. They're not going to throw $4 million out the window.

Some days I think Chuks is the weak link. Team never seems to be able to run toward his side. And his ability to hold point is average. Not advocating leaving LT alone but I think improvement on both sides can be had and should be addressed. T remains high on my need list and hopefully on the Steelers need list as well. I wouldn't get rid of either starter but I damn sure would add to the room.

Chuks was terrible at LT. In 3+ years, they couldn't coach him up to play the position. I was shocked they gave him the contract they did to play RT. He is serviceable but not worth top dollar. He seemed to have done OK this year but our two new hires on the OL did the heavy lifting for us this year. If we can get a stud (or two) in this years draft, our OL can jump to well above average and help both the run game and KP.

Maybe it was what I wanted you to be saying as the more I think about it cutting those 9M could bring talent somewhere else. Drafting a stud LT could be a solution while moving Moore to RT where his run blocking capacity could work while his lack of pass blocking wouldn't be so critical

GBpack.....Thanks for stopping in! After the Steelers I am a GB fan. Here's what I think.......If Rodgers stays (I think he does because he's not going to give up all that money) I would ask him to please be at all team sessions so that he can work with these young receivers and get on the same page with them. I think the thing that hurt you the most this year was that Rodgers seem to take a half-assed approach to the off-season and it came back and bit you guys in the butt. I would have never paid Rodgers that much money to begin with at his age. As hard as it is because he still has some talent, I would have let him walk last year and played this year with Love to see what you really have in him. What's the worst that would have happened? Love plays great and he takes you to the payoff's or further and you find out you already have the next franchise QB on your team? Or you find out he's not what you thought he was, and you lose a bunch of games and have a high pick in this year's draft where you can select the next franchise QB. I think you have a good young team maybe except for your OL which needs some help, but other than that not a bad roster. With Rodgers monster contract your hands are tied a little bit with what you can do and now you're stuck with an aging QB who in my eyes seems that football is not his number one priority anymore. Unfortunately, unless he decides he doesn't want to play anymore and is willing to give up all that money, your pretty much stuck with him.

ya, I don't post much lol! I am on here everyday checking with other fans are thinking. I've been a Steeler far for 49 years so I've seen the great!, the good!, the bad and the ugly Steeler teams. I really like where we are headed, but like most on here, I would like a new OC from outside the organization.

How do you feel about a WR going four steps forward and two steps back?
We come together cause opposites attract!

Being a GB fan I think the odds of finishing #2 or better are pretty good even with Love.

Your competition is Chicago (worst team in the league), Lions (worst franchise), and the Vikings who needed a ton of come behind victories to make the playoffs, then flash out. Cousins is a great statistical QB, but his ability to win is always in question.

First of all, applying Occam's Razor is the easiest way to figure out DJ's social media. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one:

SN Fans are ripping his drops on Social Media, so he cut the cord on it a bit, until they calm the F down.

My FA List: will be small since the Steelers are tight to he cap. I do believe WJ3 will be restructured to an extension and his cap will drop to $3-$4M this season.

Cam Heyward is going nowhere. This is a family run organization, and you don't cut your defensive captain, community leader, and AP caliber player to save money. He's a cornerstone piece to his D and this isn't Madden.

Sign:
Sutton is #1 and will be re-signed
Ogunjobi is not coming back at $8M Spotrac lists him at $3.4M Market Value, which I think is low as hell. If we can get him under $5M he stays, if not, he walks.
Spillane He will be a cheap playmaker and starter at ILB
Gentry Great #2 TE and will be paid like one
Scott very cheap re-sign. Worked well in TC and understands Meyer's blocking tech. He learned Pat's system the previous year when they were both on the Carolina Panthers.

Most Likely Gone:
Snell His replacement was an UDRFA, so his time is up here.
Wormley Good player, but knee injury will keep him from signing any contract until he is healed (Sept, Oct)
Reed A rental that didn't produce.
Allen Always a ST player. Moved from S to ILB, yet never developed enough to get quality D snaps. He will leave.
Alualu I expect him to retire.
Watt His replacement is already on the roster and slides Conner Heyward into an additional role as our ST/Skat Back/FB. He's too expensive to bring back. (though TJ could take a pay cut from his value to pay his brother)
Bush Writing is already on the wall cutting his snaps to 5 per game the last 2 weeks. Steelers are hoping he signs a big contract so they can get draft compensation.

Sign at the right price:
Boykin Too expensive for his production, he'll be kept if the Steelers can get his value under $2M/season.
Davis ST player only, could re-sign at league minimum to compete in TC.

Either OR:
I have an either or scenario for the last picks. It's keep Edmunds or Keep KZ & Joseph. Edmunds is looking for a pay raise, and I don't think the Steelers are up for that kind of commitment. I beilieve they will try to keep KZ and Joseph who will be very cheap re-signs and allow Edmunds to again test FA. The interesting option is if his brother hits FA and wants to sign with the Steelers as a package deal to play with his brother. I'd have to seriously consider it, since that is a huge upgrade at ILB.

ERFAs Will be back as camp bodies
Elija Riley
Jamir Jones

RFAs
Tender?
Hasseneur Undrafted - No compensation if signed elsewhere - Sign to lowest tender. Good depth piece
Pierre Undrafted - No compensation if signed elsewhere - Sign to lowest tender. Improved play, may get poached from another team with a multiyear deal.

I see no reason they can't keep Watt and Heyward. They are often used differently and Watt shouldn't be an expensive sign.

What is the deal with Pierre, not a way to protect him a little better? Sign him to a multi year deal?

I like that Pierre idea, give him a couple of years, some guaranteed money and make him cuttable after the first season

Not a FA but I can't see them keeping CWIII unless he takes a serious pay cut. He was a terrible pickup this year.

And Sims should be listed as an RFA, undrafted so no compensation, but a low round tender can be cheap.

D Watt will be commanding $5M/yr to play special teams and 7% of offensive snaps. Just not good value for snaps when you are tight against the cap.

I think the Steelers are going to figure out their CB room, they still have Witherspoon, Wallace, Jackson, bring back Sutton who will get paid. Not sure if they can afford Pierre as well.

I think we’re going to suck.
Hey look up, the team could get a hold of his girl and try to henpeck Rodgers for the whole offseason. There's definitely a chance that he doesn't become even more of a dick.

Why would Derek Watt "be commanding" $5 million a year? He had the highest base salary and cap hit of any fullback in the league in 2022. He was already overpaid at an AAV of $3.25 million a year for the past three seasons -- the Steelers (or anybody else, for that matter) aren't going to go plum loco and just hand him more than a 50% pay raise from his bloated current level.
