UH breaking out Oiler throwbacks

those are badass, i always loved the Oilers' unis. Personally, I always felt that when the team moved to Nashville, they should've just kept the Oilers moniker and the uniforms, similar to how the Lakers stayed the "Lakers" after they moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles, many a year ago. Sure, Tennessee might not be known for the oil industry, but who cares? Tennessee Oilers would've been just fine with me.
Bud Adams wanted to keep the Oilers name and colors. Tennessee has oil rigs in the Cumberland Plateau and on the Appalachian Grid, so it still would have fit the franchise. However, the PR team Adams used during his relocation to Nashville strongly recommended new name and modification of the color scheme. Should have kept the name as the team legacy would have continued just like the Cards, Rams and Colts.

These look cool! Brings back the love ya blue days.
I to prefer the scarlet and white uniforms but this is a nice change up for the season opener.

:love_heart:Luv Ya Blue?!!?:love_heart: lol

We made fun of that **** back in the day....those Oiler fans with their adorable baby blue pom poms no doubt made us take notice..lol

Oh that memorable Bum Phillips quote after falling to the Steelers in the playoffs...about how his Oilers will kick in the door next year.

Shortly after that came a priceless T-shirt depicting a giant Jack Lambert, arms folded standing in front of a door half his height.
In front of Lambert were these 3 small scared sheetless Houston Oiler football players and Bum Phillips pointing to Lambert demanding his players kick in the door. LOL

That’s partially why the TERRIBLE TOWEL is so well received (by us fans, not your bungles player Husyourmoma).

Our towel is TRULY an icon in all of sports.

seem to remember they swiped the song from another team, but don't remember who

You ***-hole, now that ****-ing thing is stuck in my head as well.

DON’T HIT PLAY

I know better than to hear that moronic song being played. Jesus, the lyrics make Adele seem like T.S. Eliot.

Houston Oilers number1

We got the offense! we got the defense!

The uniforms are fine but I never like when teams wear anything outside of the traditional uniforms.

I understand that

but as I said it is a marketing ploy to pull in more local fans. it has worked as far as getting them a lot of attention in Texas and some national publications

Scary to realize how many Steelers fans are too young to remember that stupid song, isn't it?
Probably too young to even remember Pastorini getting lit up a bunch by Steeler players before lighting up his Top Fuel Drag Racing career.

Pastorini was the guy who basically introduced the flak jacket for football players because the Steelers damaged his ribs. He said that the guy who invented the flak jacket visited him in the hospital and was wearing the flak jacket when another guy hit his ribs with a baseball bat. Guy who invented the jacket told him, "See? See? Doesn't hurt!"

Pastorini was able to play the next week because he was wearing the flak jacket to protect his ribs. True story.

yeah I think it was John McClain who I heard tell it many years back

If the oilers had been able to get past the Steelers the likely have 2 SB victories and he would be remembered as the tough sob he was

Bum Phillips was asked why he thought he lost the job as the Oilers coach and replied, "Playing the Steelers six times in two seasons had a lot to do with that."

P.S. Pastorini played at Santa Clara, as small Jesuit college in the Bay Area.

The Terrible Towel Indeed the most recognized symbol in all of sports.

I'm in the minority preferring the black towel over the gold for 3
reasons:

Black is badass...synonymous with the word "terrible". They go together. Gold is not so terrible.
Uniqueness. Towels come in all colors, even yellow, but who owns a black towel? Black for a towel is unique, as are the Steelers unique.
Penn State has their "White Out." We could have a "Black Out" at the end of the game, after we put our opponents out of their misery. Lights out, party's over for you.

I have an idea....every fan bring both a gold and a black towel. Wave the gold towel during the game as the rally towel. but when we have the game in hand bring out the black beauty. Tell me an entire stadium blacked out with towels wouldn't draw national attention!

Any Idea how I can promote my great idea?

C'mon man, which Towel looks more Terrible to you?

I personally liked them, but can’t deny the fact based on data analysis, scientific research, and mathematical probabilities that you will never win a Super Bowl wearing baby blue or orange.

Ha! Before I hit post I thought to myself, better think this through cause I'm gonna get called out if I'm wrong. All I could think of was those darn Creamsicle uniforms. Meh...the Broncos are a bunch of pansies anyway.
