I was scrolling thru channels , started watching a game between dallas and louisville..

Louisville was picking off this qb left and right.. Great plays.

Anyway i looked up who their defensive backs coach is.. Its Chris McCallister, in his first season as a coach.

I was super impressed. I know he was a former raven,, but wow.

What have you seen in the USFL that you care to share?

I like how greater distance FGs can score 4 points.

Flow of game seems more conducive to TV viewing pleasure. NFL has to many game stops whether penalty or commercial.

Keep in. Mind that the talent level isn’t near the NFL, yet can equal some of the better college teams. I also don’t think coaching is directly transferable to the NFL.

I still like watching it as it is a great change from the GREED Machine.

Me too. Why not reward it?!

The UFL is also experimenting with sensors in the football for speed / rotation / velocity / first down spotting.

Another real cool thing is they are putting remote cameras on referee hats. They are controlled by a person who will keep the action centered up. They plan on portions them on coach / OC / DC / so to give the fan the ultimate field experience.

I think if they can keep their payroll / officiating / field rental / cost(s) under control, they may have a sustainable chance.

The NFL should look as this league to be sort of a Farm Club league.

The AFL Football league started out independent and because they gained competition to the NFL, they integrated together to form the AFC & NFC conferences…………….. thus the NFL.

I don’t think those conditions will exist for quite some time but still the farm league may be viable to line of gain.

I like watching it knowing the level of skill is lesser, but the optioned enhancements are pretty cool.

For some reason I don't like this. Then they might change shorter FG's say perhaps inside the 25 yard line down to 2 points. Why reward shorter FG's the entire 3 points? Of course some might like that also.

Why not put a camera right at the first down mark? Both sides of the field on a track using some type of gps. Might help on some of the horrible judgemnet calls we get every game/year.

I don't agree longer field goals should get more points, and shorter goals less. That's rewarding ineffective offensive play, and punishing good defensive play. The field goal attempt is not a standalone play, it is the final play of a series of plays that have created the position from which the field goal attempt is being taken. If you are going for a field goal from 50+yards, it means the offence hasn't done it's job, or the defence has done a solid job of containing the offence.

I think the sensor inside the ball will give accurate spotting for all downs, easier and efficient/

When it comes to this type of technology, is the spot of the ball on every down that detrimental to the game that we'd have to revert back to replay reviews to change the spot by a few inches? IMO, the refs do a pretty good job and this type of update would take more away from the game than add to it.

Yeah I suppose. As long as the 1st down markers have sensors also.

I think it will just be running with the play. As they’ve ing ball to spot, the ear-piece tells them when it needs to go. Smooth and trouble free.

Of course I there may be adjustment periods, but I’m sure the “bugs” wouyld be worked out before it was implemented.

I, like many have seen the Steelers get jacked by over 1 1/2 yards on the spot.

This could help a lot in retrospective and take some of the guess / control away from the greed machine.

Jesse caught it for a touchdown.

Like one in the soccer ball when the NY guys decided the sensor over-ruled both the refs and the video?

No thanks

The more control taken away from the NY authority, the more ****-ups we will wittness.

It’s control of the game that stops MOST betterment of the rules / game.

There has to be a way of controlling / manipulating the outcome via score or win.

It’s all about the mom ey, and gambling is the biggest money involved………… thus the control of the game.

Anymore.....I would rather they go back to pre-reviewing. Sometimes you simply don't know how good you have it.....until you don't.
