USFL

but you said you didn't watch it??

In case any of you were wondering what happened to De'Andre Johnson (was on the EMCC team on Last Chance U) He is one of the qbs on the NJ Generals. They ran the ball something like 24 straight times with him in the game.

The play was so so, the announcers were **** and talking to players during the game was idiotic. the drone shots on kicks ws terrible, the angle might be good if the quality of the cameras was better though
Does 7 minutes count? Lol

They should call it "Pats League" with all the audio from the huddle and qb how are you gonna call plays next week?

I'm digging it. I love hearing the calls and the coaching banter pre-snap about the coverages and line reads. Beats watching the ******* Pirate games!

...and football during holidays? How dare they! pffftttt!

A off season league that can potentially take the place of a developmental league is what football needs really… i hope she catches on
XFL and NFL are getting kinda cozy. That offseason developmental league may happen sooner than we think.
I think the NFL owners have no problem supplementing a developmental league. They just don't want to be on the hook for ALL the expenses like they were with the World League.

For some that is an eternity but for others that is just getting started...............................

I'll see what YouTube has tonight to watch.

You got it. With college players being able tomake some $$$coin$$$ they won't be the desperate pull to the NFL causing less "crop" of players long term. This could be the suppliental population needed to enhance their college developmental league.

Problem is they have no speed at the WR positions and horrible QBs. That makes the games plodding and lacking in any real excitement. Plus the stupidity of not having the teams play in their own towns makes for a sterile environment.

Can you imagine how small the crowds will be by week 8 in the sweltering Alabama heat without fans having a rooting interest ?

I think if they wanted to play all the games in one city each week they should have rotated them among the league cities. How will they achieve real fans in the home cities with zero home games ? Dumb.

Yeah I thought that was pretty unbelievable too. Maybe why the game was only attended by family members today.

Hard to do much on offense when you hit the back foot and the guy is about to smash you. Blocking was terrible

well the issue is it was played in a neutral city. normally games are in one of the teams home markets.....lot more likely to draw fans

I did hear there was an hour game delay so that likely thinned out the crowd also

obviously playing them all in Birmingham is a money saving thing Likely much more expensive for teams to travel back and forth and getting the use of NRG Stadium (Texans home field) or Rice Stadium (home of the Rice Owls in Houston) or TDECU Stadium (Home of the awesome Houston Cougars) would be more costly than the stadium in Birmingham and the situation would likely be the same in the other "home" cities

I thought I heard somewhere that they were going to have a traditional home/away schedule starting next year.

Sometimes I use this as my opening line as I cross over from this world to my Spirit world and then even use it twice as I enter a less known but more frequented BIZZARO world.

If the League makes it to next season, there might be a chance, but I also hope the NFL takes them in under their wing and gets a developmental league going. Any player who makes the initial 93 man roster would be eligible as a player and 8 teams draft out of that with each team getting 70 man rosters with 5 more additions that were NOT in the original draft pool.

ALL wages are equal pay with hometown stadiums and games. Same game rules as NFL but also a place to try experimental rules as well. GROOM Referees as well.

Huh. I may have skimmed past a game while scrolling through channels. Saw just that, said, "I don't need to see a replay of the 2021 Steelers," and changed the channel.

10 bucks a ticket. Kids free. Maybe 2000 dollars in gate. Maybe. That ain't gonna work.
and, its buy one ticket for one game, get to stay for all games that day.
concessions must be higher than Willie Nelson shotgunning Snoop

I can't get it on TV anywhere. Tomorrow is the replay. I might watch.
I thought about watching the Maulers, just because of the Pittsburgh connection, but it wasn't on here.
Saturday, both Fox and NBC had the game on, Sunday nothing. Seems like they're getting off to a bang up start.

Gambling is legal in a lot more places, and the USFL will count on that. Some people will bet on anything. Also, they are saving travel expenses by playing all the games in Birmingham. I guess they are counting on good TV ratings to make money. Seems doubtful. Because Birmingham residents are certainly not going to rush to the stadium to watch Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh on a Monday evening. Playoff games will be in Canton....if the season makes it that far. I am doubtful. And the next year, the XFL is back!

Maulers game was moved to tonight because of the weather last night. There were some other games televised yesterday, just not on the major networks.

This us true. Might be a possible saving grace. Funny part is so much chance for throwing a game in a last chance league like this.

From the past exposure I think the XFL has a better chance of making it. I do thin k the XFL is trying to make it NFL free as far as development (hand out in exchange for control) league to them. I think the XFL sees themselves as sort of the O'l AFL in hopes of eventually becoming the third party in the NFL league.

Just for the record, the NFL has adopted some XFL product, less flags being one of them and flow of game being another (could be more).

We are suppose to take the USFL seriously when they're putting out behind-the-scenes of a guy getting released for something like this?
