Hey Vince, you played last year, but did you happen to ******* notice where our defense ranked? And you have the ******* stones to be pissed they wanted to get someone who ran a little faster than a 4.76, as noted below? I'd have cut your *** the second we got Shazier and Spence passed his physical, you should be worshiping the ground the Steelers walk on, instead of crying like a *****.

Article below.

His adequate-but-not-great 4.76 40-yard dash time

He thought he had improved to the point he could have kept his starting nod.

Steelers apparently saw it a little different.

you need to switch over to decaf, brother. always so hostile.

By all indications Vince is having an excellent camp so far. Having a chip on his shoulder has worked for him. I don't see what the problem is at all...isn't this exactly how Hines Ward felt after the team drafted Troy Edwards and Burress even though he was already on the roster?

When I first read the article it made me think of Ward. Regardless how it shakes out, the Steelers have better depth overall this year. Minus perhaps DE.

Vince is a 2 down back. That is his problem. He has had a good camp but so has the rookie, Shazier, who is an every down player and one of the fastest on the field.

He is back up material. Back up is great, go to all the games for free make 6 figure salaries, and don't get beat up in the games like the other guys. At the end of 5 years maybe ten if lucky retire while still being able to walk.
Sounds like a great gig, yep I would love to have retired at 31 or at least be in the position I didn't really have to worry about money I could just work at anything.

I'm not saying I don't want him to want to start, I'm saying coming out and saying you were pissed they drafted a guy who you know is more gifted than you is a punk move. Ward said much the same, difference being, he kept the starting spot.

I don't like decaf, I get a little annoyed when I see a guy with that me first mentality. The correct answer is "Of course I want to start, but I want this team to win, so if someone else playing in a given situation gives us that chance, then that's what I want." It's a team sport.

Just try not to lose any sleep over it tonight, alright?

Who???...........

Vince Williams could have a Larry Foote career if he works hard and learns to read defenses. Backup material with the capacity to start in a pinch, hell, maybe he starts for the Steelers after Timmons contract ends.
Just keep working hard

if spence is really healthy, trade Williams to dallas for draft pick.

I never lose sleep over anything, that's one of the nice things about just saying what you think, when you think it, you say it, it's out there, and that's that.

Life is simpler that way. I just really don't like this me first bullshit, it destroys a team when you're bitching about how YOU didn't get this or that, if YOU earned it, YOU would have it. How about being honest about how much YOU contributed to our defenses sucktitude last year and building from learning from those mistakes. "Oh, gee coach, I know when Larry went down, and I came in, you had to pull Troy up to the line to cover for my super slow ***, but I still think I should get the job, cause well, I earned it" Dude is on ******* crack.

I like the correct answer, not just the truth, but the team aspect also.

VERY VERY unlikely. Timmons will get extended and he will be very productive, now that it looks like he will be able to play more his position, rather than compensating for lack of others.

He will be 30 and asking for top dollars, I don't know if we will be able to afford it

Vince Williams has had an outstanding camp and 10 years ago would have been a guy you plugged in and was a force against the run for the next 5-7 years. Unfortunately, that is not the type of game that is played anymore and the Steelers wanted an athletic player at the position. Hard to blame them.

So where was the part about crying like a little *****? Guy seems unhappy that other people got moved ahead of him. Sounds like they should be.

I hear what you are saying, but we we will handle it as it comes. The cap increases some each year. I'm not the cap guru, but seems that the STEELERS work it out.

Vince only played last year because we were so thin going in (with Spence still out from horrific injury) and then Foote going down right away at a position we were paper thin going in with if we were healthy. Hell Garvin saw action last year. Like that he wants to remain a starter but must seriously consider his lack of intelligence a major flaw if he got "pissed" that we attempted to avoid the same issue this year.

FIFY

The loser of the head to head competition, I would be ok with a trade. If he brought a decent pick. But I doubt it would be high enough to warrant the move.

In reality I think you can keep all four. Timmons, Shazier, Williams, Spence.

I am thinking Timmons will be staying until his play drops off, as the Steelers seem to hold onto the ones they want...................

Dont trade anyone..special teams can be really good.

Going to be some tough choices..probably going to lose a good wr or 2 and a decent ilb. I am not sure they will keep all 4 because moats can play ilb too. They might do it for special teams though. I do not think spence will yield much in a trade too many question marks with him. Can williams or spence play olb? I am still really concerned there. Have not heard much about moats worilds or jones from camp
