The Pittsburgh Steelers were completely disrespecting the Cleveland Browns. They determined that Ben Roethlisberger was well enough to dress, but they were going to start Landry Jones instead.
They were that confident. The Browns sucked, and we can beat you with our back up. They were content to let Roethlisberger rest his mid-foot sprain that he had suffered the week prior. But that never played out, because Jones was injured in the first quarter and in came Benjamin Todd Roethlisberger, the Browns daddy.

Roethlisberger completed 22 of 33 attempts for 379 yards with three touchdowns and one interception for a 123.2 rating. By halftime, he had thrown for 286 yards and two TDs.
Jones won his first NFL game that day. Even though he didn’t play more than 10 minutes that day, he was the starter and therefore it was his win. It was only the second time in Roethlisberger’s career that he had came off the bench.
The first? September 19, 2004 – in relief of Tommy Maddox.

“It feels good,” said Roethlisberger at the time, who lamented his 1-for-6 effort in the red zone. “I wish I could go back because I left some stuff out there.”
