Watt gets paid

Nope. I am not saying you are defending Tomlin....I am just giving my opinion that Tomlin holds a large portion of the blame for our offensive issues. That is all. You see talent as partly to blame. I see other teams that open their offense up that have less talent than ours. So I personally believe Tomlin is holding back the offense.......and defense .....and the team in general.
I feel the same way. Not sure anything could change my want for something fresh. Won’t talk about it much but yeah…

He does, we agree. Since he is the coach and seems like he will be as long as I am above ground, I can only hope his arrogance has been muted some after last years mess. And the "that's why I am highly compensated" comment. I know the players are older, but they put together a roster for him now that if things break right, they could really be in the mix. He's gotta know that there isn't any hiding. What'll the excuses be if they don't perform well?

We rescued a dog a few years ago. Lab/beagle mix. I never really thought he'd be much of a hunting dog, so I didn't really shoot around him or anything. We got him as a puppy in late Oct so he didn't hike much through Oct and November of that year. But the next year I'd hike him over the fields of an area they stock with pheasants, and this little bugger turned out to be a hell of a pheasant flusher. But I didn't do any training. So that year I started to carry a gun along, he flushed one or two, but nothing i really could get a decent shot on. Now this past hunting season away we go. He flushes one, perfect setup. I shoot, down goes the pheasant, and off goes the dog. I'm standing there, deciding if I want to go find the pheasant in the thick brush, or go chase the dog. I chased the dog. Turns out he can't handle gun shots. Anyway, I think in a way that describes Tomlin and players. He gets players on offense that can't completely do the things that make an offense competent or even dangerous, for whatever reason. Lack of top end talent or maturity issues or youth issues. The training of the players he has got seems to be lacking as well.

I have voiced many times that Coach Tomlin has done the LEAST with the Most.

There is no argument against this statement other than someone coming up with some excuse to which Tomlin has made an art of using to explain his career.

That non-losing season and how hard that is to do is just crap. Yes it is hard to do, but at what cost…….?

The “Standard” use to be so much higher than the non-losing season………. But then again the fan-base is being replaced with fans that were given participation trophies and told they were the best, regardless of outcome.

Can Coach Tomlin change enough of the wrong to make it a higher season,…..doubtful in one year……

Myself, I have endless HOPE on my side. I also think we deserve more than 1 playoff win.

Of course he is, he is a megalomaniac who only knows how to manage and hide from risk. Vanilla D, lack of blitzing, vanilla O, lack of MOF/audibles/motion.

Line up and beat your man. It’s why good schemers and planners coach circles around the Steelers, even if the Steelers have more talent.

Which is why the report that came out today should not surprise anyone: The Steelers have the smallest coaching staff in the league. 19 coaches, average is 24.

On the low pay towards the assistant coaches (it’s also documented we have one of the lowest paid staffs) and smallest staff: I’d love to be a fly on the wall and know if this is something Rooney just lets Tomlin do because Tomlin wants it that way or something Rooney encourages/mandates to save money/be more old school towards the staff numbers.

Considering the Rooney's are the second least wealthy owners in the league and one of only a very small few who's wealth is directly tied to the team the financial side is likely a real consideration. They have to put all guaranteed contract money in escrow for player contracts. That is not as easy for the Rooney's or Browns of the World.

My response to that is a hopeful response. I know you remember after they lost to New England in the 2004 AFCC game, there were so many on here that said if Cowher can't win it after 14 years, or whatever it was, he never will. I had that feeling too in prior years with him, but didn't after that one. I felt he finally had his QB. But he showed the past doesn't matter. Each year is a stand alone.

I hope too.

I don't care how big the staff is. I just want a better staff. You don't need that many coaches if the ones you have are good at what they do. You don't want too many voices.

But at the end of the day, that is what players have to do, regardless of scheme. Don't argue with me, read "Three Bricks Shy of a Load" to get Noll's view on that. Take issue with his assessment. Maybe the Steelers don't have the talent we think they do , for whatever reason. Pickens, for example, his head is harnessing his talent. On some level it's our fault for believing the lies. Darnell Washington or whoever looks unstoppable in camp! Well, where is that when the games start? Maybe the defense he is going against in camp isn't really that good. Well, we eat this up, think they are so damn talented when maybe they ain't. Why can't Tomlin take advantage of the talent?! Maybe we should be asking more, "what the hell kind of talent is he picking?"
