Interesting draft. A ton of very good players. I really wish the Steelers had let the Patsies sign Sanders, so they get that extra 3rd (the 91st pick).

The third round pick we would have received would have been in LAST years draft, not this years draft. So while it still would have helped us this year (wouldn't have had to trade to pick up Thomas), we would have had our own pick in the third round and not the Patriots.

I feel Al Davis was a ghost in our war room. I'll give it a C and say I like it better than last years debacle.

You mean the draft that gave us a solid running back, a good WR prospect, and starting OLB (even tho he has an uphill climb ahead of him), our future starting S, and an ILB that was forced into starting for the year due to injury. That's five players that contributed in their first year, with one of them not expected to get that much time this year. Bell is our starting back and baring injury should be for several years. Jones has potential as long as he puts the work in the weight room this offseason to get stronger. Thomas looks like he is going to be our nickel CB and back up Troy. You make it seem like we drafted 9 Alonzo Jacksons.

I guess you believe Ben has had nothing but injury and suspension free seasons under Tomlin? The two have almost identical records so far which are pretty damn good. Ever consider what you could have had instead?

I don't know why this debate continues. No one is ever going to change their mind. The Tomlin haters will always hate him no matter what. There is no changing their mind, no logic can be brought up... its a dead horse that gets dragged into almost every single thread.

When you piss away your first pick it's a debacle. Even the fo knows .. look how they drafted this year.

I'd go with a B. That's as high as i can go with them doing so little for the secondary.

I didn't like the Shazier pick at first because he's undersized and i had visions of him getting pancaked because the weak DL would not be able to keep him clean. Now that they add Tuitt, and grab McCullers late, i feel a lot better. I feel good about Cam Thomas as a backup and McLendon in a rotation.

This DL should be able to keep Shazier clean and if that happens, he will make a ton of plays.

Archer is the head scratcher. It's a pure luxury pick. There were quality CBs on the board. I'd much rather have Jaylen Watkins or Ross Cockrell on this team now instead of Archer. The Steelers supposedly really like Cockrell. They could have had him with the Archer pick and still added Shaq Richardson later.

Steelers day 3 was great. The only change i would have made was Jared Abbrederis over Wesley Johnson in round 6.

I think the Steelers let CB go because they are making 2 assumptions.
1. Cortez will have a breakout year, so their top 3 CBs with Cortez, Gay and Ike are OK for 1 more year
2. Jarvis will have a breakout year and the pass rush will be much improved.

I may be willing to believe in #1, but i'm doubtful of #2. I'm not sold that Worilds is anything more than average and Jarvis was flat out horrible last year. I understand a rookie learning curve, but a pass rusher drafted as hig has him should have flashed moments where he beat the OT clean.

I think Heyward and Tuitt will be good pass rushers for 3-4 DEs but they're not JJ Watt. The main Steeler pass rush still needs to come from the LBs. I'm not sold that Jones and Worilds can bring it. Hopefully Shazier will allow Lebeau to be more creative with blitzes.

If the pass rush is below average again, then expect another season with low turnovers.

No less an authority than Chuck Noll once said you can study all the tape and do all the interviews but you never really know what you have till you get people in pads and line them up against your known quantities. So till then we are just re-hashing our present assumptions.

Anything this team does is never good enough in your eyes. I hardly see how they drafted this year shows the FO admitting they screwed up last year. We drafted an ILB, a bunch of DL, ANOTHER ILB, a WR, RB, a utility OL, and a TE. I love how you read what you want into things, even when there is no basis for it what so ever in reality.

You really think suspension is the same as injury? Really? You think getting facial surgery and bouncing your head off a car, having an appendectomy and then having a concussion during the year is the EXACT same as not playing in the first 4 games of the year because of suspension? Wow, you Tomlin lovers will believe almost anything to justify your position.

Also Cowher had a rookie Ben (AFCC game), 2nd year Ben (SB), and 3rd year Ben (motorcycle accident, appendectomy, and concussion). Tomlin got Ben in his 4th year and has had him during his prime. He also inherited a defense (10 of 11 starters from Cowher) that won his only SB.

Yes, Cowher wanted Andrews so what? So did Colbert. Also who has Tombert drafted? Sometimes the owner has to step in. The only difference is Tombert hasn't had to draft a QB yet. Tomlin hasn't had to find his QB. We'll see if he can get one as easily as you think Cowher could have.

Whats the difference your not playing. You can make it sound dramatic as you want..bottom line he didnt play. How is it "so what" that he wanted to draft Andrews. The first thing brought up is Tomlin has Ben and Cowher didnt. Ok well if left up to him he would of never had him. Why did the owner have to step in? Should of been obvious. Its obvious to you. The only reason he didnt win is because he didnt have a QB. There are no excuses because Ben missed games. No credit was given to Tomlin for going 3-1 without Ben. Then no excuses for Cowher for Ben missing games in 2006. Also its not about being a Cowher or Tomlin lover. Its about holding both to the same standard.

HOLY **** PEOPLE! Year ******* 8, and you guys are still arguing over **** that has no bearing on anything what so ever. IT WAS EIGHT YEARS AGO that Tomlin was hired, Cowher is GONE, LONG ******* GONE! Give it a rest already... Tomlin lover, Tomlin hater blah blah blah... DOES NOT MATTER WHO HE HAD OR DID NOT HAVE. There is no proof to back up either side, it's pure speculation for both sides. You either back the coach or you don't, but EIGHT ******* YEARS LATER and you're STILL going at it???

MOVE THE **** ON! The horse is nothing but a pile of ashes, it doesn't even exist anymore...

You can't be this daft. Missing a HEALTHY Qb for 4 games is much different than almost being killed. It takes time to get your body football ready to start with when you add injury to that then it makes it much more difficult. I can't believe any one is ignorant enough to argue that.

Also you can't compare them just based on one draft pick because Tomlin has NEVER been in that situation. Maybe Tomlin wanted to pick a LB if he were in the room? You don't know. He's NEVER had to draft a QB to be a starter. We'll see when the time comes.

Was he cleared to play football or not. If he wasnt ready to play maybe the coach should of played his backup. He won a zillion games with out Ben before so what was the rush to play him coming off his motorcycle accident and appendectomy???

Im not comparing them. What the **** was he suppossed to to do with Ben release him because he didnt draft him.

It's about being in football shape not if he can physically play. Hell a healthy football player is going to struggle if he misses a lot of time let alone someone that went through several surgeries and had a concussion. It really isn't that hard to understand.

Also, nobody said anything about Tomlin cutting Ben. The fact is that Tomlin had a SB winning QB handed to him along with a SB caliber team. He hasn't had to worry about QB his entire career. When that does happen we'll see how long it takes him to find a SB winning QB.
