What are the odds we wind up with Rex Ryan at DC?

Tomlin is signed through 2016 and will not be fired at season's end. Repeat this please. Tomlin will not be fired at season end. No, in fact when he is due an extension by the Steelers after the season based on Steeler history with their coaches, I don't think he gets it. I do believe Rooney will want to see more and 2015 will be the make or break year for Mr.Tomlin. Providing we miss the playoffs this year which we will and also in 2015, then this time next year he will be on the hot seat since Rooney will most likely be close to unleashing hell on him.

No, I think we have another year of his incompetence which means another questionable draft no doubt.

That's what I'm thinking. They won't fire him but the best we can hope for is that they just don't renew his contract.

That about sums it up. Tomlin will have next year to improve and if not, I'd also expect the house to be cleaned. The Rooney's will see Tomlin's contract through and give him every opportunity to turn the team around.

and lost both. one to tomlin and what has he done since? once the rah rah wears off you have to coach. and he hasn't.

Unfortunately the rah rah is one level past Coach Dumbass Coolshades.

Ryan will not even be considered! John Mitchell who is the assistant head coach and defensive lineman coach will no doubt be moved to the defensive coordinator position if Lebeau is gone. He's been here for ages and knows the 3-4 scheme better than anyone except Lebeau.........

Yes, lets hire the guy who is well versed in the scheme that hasn't been working for us. Do we need to wait for the Lombardi, or can we have it now?

I like Rex as a Steeler HC. Like it a lot. He would be great.

Maybe we should hire him as OC... 41 of first 49 plays last night were runs.

Given the way Sanchez has played in Philly maybe Rex had a lot to do with screwing him up. And I don't recall his defense's over the past decade ever quite matching LeBeau's.

I am of the opinion (some) players are not buying Tomlin's douchebaggery and knowing he has a contract through 2016 just adds to the less than excitable attitude.

I believe the biggest issue right now with the defense lies with a power struggle that shows through the player drafting and development. Ultimately as most of us have commented on, we have drafted players that just don't fit the 3-4 scheme correctly. There has been too much focus on drafting hybrid players that can bridge the 3-4 and 4-3 worlds to cater to the Tampa 2 philosophy that runs deep in Tomlin's coaching tree.

This has been a large part of the defensive demise. The inability to replace aging players with talent has left the team with a real deficit. Unfortunately it's a 3 to 5 year deficit at this point. I feel as though it's gone so far as to be very difficult to resolve quickly.

Rex as head coach ? ****#no#

Coaches id prefer are Sean Payton, Mike McCarthy or Chuck Pagano.............none of whom are available, so id check and see if Kevin Sumlin might be interested

But that Rex nonsense..........**** that dumbass idea. Nobody wanted his daddy Buddy around here...why the **** do we want his son ? Just because someone is a stern dick doesnt translate into garnering player respect and success. Harbaugh and Rex are on the slide (Rexy started a couple years ago) and if Jim remains a couple more seasons in SF, that team will look just like the Jets.............

Out of current HC's I would take Jeff Fisher and Marvin Lewis.

I used to hate ryan, but he has kinda grown on me. He seems to genuinely care at least. As for coaching not sure how good he is. I do not think i would want him as a coach here, but i would not hate the choice. I do think he controls his corordinators though as far as game planning.

It would be 1.5 yrs in and he would jawing with the media and slingin verbal **** at Ben. And the last thing you need is a QB in dont give ****" mode cuz his head coach throws him under the bus in the media. No thanks to that nightmare. If yall want that, customize it on Madden

"No doubt"? Yes doubt.

Butler likely would get the nod, or at least be higher in the pecking order than Mitchell.

Butler has been the DC-in-waiting for years but if it's just going to be more of the same, in other words if he doesn't know anything else or can't make changes, then I'm not crazy about it.

Rex Ryan>Mike Tomlin
I would take Rex over Tomlin all day.

Marvin Lewis????

Marvin Lewis might not be all that but he's better than what most give him credit for; it's no coincidence that when the Brown family finally started giving him more influence in personnel matters the bengals became more competitive

Cinci fans would take Tomlin for Lewis any day and twice on Sundays. They hate his game prep and overall too nice demeanor. They want him as GM but not as a coach. They want someone who can actually win a playoff game or two. We do not want him as a head coach!!!
