What are the odds we wind up with Rex Ryan at DC?

You guys realize DC stands for "defensive coordinator" right? I don't want him as HC coach either because he's a QB/offense killer. But he can run our defense all day

Out of current HC's I would take Jeff Fisher and Marvin Lewis.

Obviously, neither of those guys will be available. Fish is doing a tremendous job with the Rams. Imagine what he will do once he has a legit QB? And if he was let go, he'd easily get another head gig, he won't need to take a DC job.

I meant that I would like him as OUR head coach.

Ryan will not even be considered! John Mitchell who is the assistant head coach and defensive lineman coach will no doubt be moved to the defensive coordinator position if Lebeau is gone. He's been here for ages and knows the 3-4 scheme better than anyone except Lebeau.........

John Mitchell ?

According to Marty Gitlin of CBS Sports, Pittsburgh Steelers LB coach Keith Butler's decision to reject the Tennessee Titans for their defensive coordinator position could be an indication 76-year-old DC Dick LeBeau days could be numbered.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has speculated:

'Could the events of the past couple weeks shed some light on his future and the future of the Steelers defense? Linebackers coach Keith Butler, who is considered to be the heir apparent to LeBeau, decided to remain with the Steelers rather than interview for the defensive coordinator position with the Tennessee Titans and his friend, Ken Whisenhunt. It is unclear if Butler decided to stay because he was encouraged to do so or if his attempt to leave was blocked by Coach Mike Tomlin. In any event, the Titans never formally asked the Steelers for permission to speak with Butler because the decision apparently had already been made that he wasn’t going to leave.'

Butler? Someone in the know help me out, but haven't our LBs been unadulterated trash for about 4 seasons now?

I wouldn't argue that fact although up until these last couple years, they were decent. Ya gotta have the players to execute the plan. I have been reading about the "Butler take over" since at least 2009.

Rumors have also speculated that the Rooney's have been paying him somewhere close to DC money in order to keep him in the fold. More speculation has the reason he didn't go to Tenn was because of the money he would have been offered wasn't all that much more than he was making now and he would have had to 'move the brood'...so to speak. Still other people say he wasn't even offered the job..who knows ?

Gotcha. I would take Rex over Tomlin any day, as long as we hired a quality OC and he let him do his job. Rex gets his teams motivated and DOES excel at putting a stout D on the field. That is better than what we have right now.

What is the Jet's record?

As the quote goes.... "the chances are slim and none, and slim just left town."

Im guessing his landing spot is the next head coach of the Bears, or talking head on NFLN.

I don't think Tomlin is going anywhere. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if the Rooney's give him an extension.
While I agree with half or 3/4th of the board here that he should be replaced, has anyone seen a credible source that shows his job to be in jeopardy?
