Where are the big changes?

I read an article today where sources within the NFL whomever they may be, have said what most of us have been saying. That the Steeler offense and defense is far too predictable and that they lack imagination. Teams have figured out their offense and know what’s coming and that they almost always run on first down. On defense the questions from these insiders were why don’t they blitz much more especially with Watt being doubled teamed?
Sounds familiar doesn’t it? We’ve all been saying the same around here for a long time.

When did anybody who actually matters (I e. Rooney, Khan, Tomlin) say there were going to be big changes?

where are any changes?

We have all been screaming it: Even though running the ball is our top priority, we can't do it well at all. Not even close to do it well. Yet, rushing the ball is so critical to our success and yet we suck so bad at it. Why hasn't Fraudlin figured it out? He just can't seem to get it.

Meyer being kicked out of Pittsburgh should be the first move of the off season. The offensive line has been bad for some time, and certainly injuries played a role in that this season. That said however, when you see a player like Jones take steps backward this season you have to take a hard look at the coaching. Either Jones is a bust pick, or the coaching is substandard, or both, something is amiss.

After that, I'm really tired of Austin's defense. Vanilla is spicy as hell compared to this Steeler defense. They play like they don't care at all.

It's heartbreaking to realize how far this team has fallen off. Some fine careers (Watt, Hayward, for example) have been wasted in this cesspool of mediocrity that Shades refers to as 'the standard'. And I just don't have an ounce of faith that Shades can do anything beyond what he produced again this season. We could sign Majomes and go 10-7/one and done with this staff.

And to think that Fraudlin has become revered as some kind of wonder-coach, as if he brings something that is above average to the Steeler club. 8 seasons without a single playoff win speaks louder than anything else to the teams mediocrity than anything; 2016 and not one playoff wins since. Dear God, that speaks volumes. But that is what reality dictates, in the here and now: a below average coach fused with a below average owner. Now one could argue labeling them as "below average." They have managed zero losing seasons in Fraudlins 18 years so maybe they are indeed an average team. But watching them get hosed - by a working, legit firehose, fully operational - by a legit playoff team, leaves nothing to wonderment. This team is no where near a legit team's class and standard. And it's pure fantasy to think it is.

Coach Tomlin did, post game play off loss.

Salute the nation

He said the same thing after last season, something about doing things differently and thinking outside the box, which meant he hired an OC who wasn't one of his buddies or someone he worked with before.
For Shades, that's WAY outside his comfort zone.

What in the Steelers history has suggested that they are willing to make any big changes?

First you must accept that Mike Tomlin leads the Team. He decides on the Team's overall operational philosophy, as well as the philosophy on how the O & D operates. You then have to accept that he chooses his staffing coaches and how they will fit within his chain of command. Obviously Meyer fits within his "structure" and is doing as MT directs him to do. It is completely reasonable to assume that Meyer is doing exactly as he is being told to do. It is also possible that the players are not up to running the scheme. It is also possible that the players just don't fit said scheme with their skillsets. It is also possible that players (Jones) are not buying into said scheme and not doing the hard work.

Well, the HC did publicly quit on the team at least twice this year. Why would they not quit also?

Things have not worked for years, but the fear of it getting worse, is paralyzing to the Owner of the team. While Mike Tomlin lives in his fears, AR2 really lives in his fears.

We’ll be here next year and the next year and the next year at this same time of the year arguing over the same ****…. Steelers ain’t going nowhere

Oh please... they are gonna:

1. Move the toss to the Rb five yards further back so he can get a bigger head of steam

2. Run more on first down

3. Tell all the DL to "Get gud"

4. Use all the same plays and strategies, but wish extra hard they work better this year

5. Simplify the D even more... Drop all 11 guys into soft coverage every down...also a 0 DL formation means they dont have to draft any more of them

6 move all the LGs to RG and Fraizer to LT then let Fautanu start at C... all olinemen are interchangeable, after all

7. Sign another super cheap qb and spend another 40 million on D...

8. Tell Tomlin he has to press conference twice as hard to motivate the troops better... nothing short of thirty Obviously's per presser

9. Extend all the old players another 5 years

10. Say 12 hail marys every gameday before kickoff...

Julian Edelman said a few days ago that the Steelers are still doing the dumb predictable 💩 that we did when he played us.

You can keep firing coordinators all day long. But until DEI Tomlin goes nothing will change.

Tomlin can't fire the DC or OC since he is both during the games and the owners already said he's not going anywhere.
