Would be nice for whomever is our leaders to stand up for their wives, girlfriends and daughters and let the league know this is not what the NFL players want to be known for. Watson deserves to be gone period. Everything that has been said by the judge, Browns told to use only their message people on Watson, reality somewhere please. Ben had no appearance in front of two grand juries, he had a letter from a district attorney that had not enough to even send to grand jury. Nevada even the roommate said the girl set Ben up. I am far from saying Ben was a model citizen but Watson actions toward so many deserve big time punishment
let me contrast Ben's issues with Watson... since so many wish to these days
Ben was accused of rape twice. The first time was a completely he said/she said scenario. Nobody but those two will ever really know the truth. Yeah there were a ton of issues with her story and she was never supposed to go alone to a hotel room, especially to fix a tv she had no qualifications to fix. her story for the first few months was that she was going to marry him and was in love with him and was convinced she was pregnant with his kid... ... that wasnt in line with what she claimed later... she clearly showed stalker like tendencies, even showing up at his house, before finally accepting his rejection and then suing him for rape...
Now the best case for Ben here was that he took advantage of a woman who may have had mental issues... not criminal, but not exactly medal of honor stuff either. He eventually settled with her for a non-disclosed amount. This case was utterly unproveable in either direction...
The second was pure bunk. A sorority group was out partying when they ran into Bens Birthday group... they followed that group to several bars. at the final bar Ben kicked one girl and her boyfriend out because the boyfriend objected to him doing shots with all the girls and referring to them as "*******".
After this the remaining girls social media and texts (they all tried to erase without knowing they could be recovered) showed they conspired to set him up for rape to get back at him. The DA later determined what they claimed happened was physically impossible based on the size of the bathroom, and that there wasn't a lock on it... Now he may have had some type of sex with that girl or not. But it clearly was a set up from their own posts and texts.
That doesn't discount the rumors of drugs and other bad behavior at that party. Best case for Ben here was that he was a giant jackass and possibly had sex with a college girl too drunk to articulate things... which in some places could be called rape, even if she consented... he absolutely put himself in a horrible predicament with his bad judgement and rude behavior.
In neither case was he ever charged with anything. In the second, exculpatory evidence existed to discount the girl's claim, but he was suspended anyhow.
In both cases, a woman pursued him.
In Watson's case, he and Houston obviously knew something deviant and sexual was going to happen when they hired the masseuses. They got a special private hotel room rather than just at the facility, they made them sign NDA's to keep them quiet... They never hired a male Masseuse. He intended to sexually accost them from moment 1. There were 66 different women this happened to within the statute of limitations timeframe. He settled with at least 24 or 25 of them, with the expectation they would not testify against him. The NFL cannot compel people to testify. the four they did get to testify convinced the judge that it was indeed sexual assault... the Judge simple ruled that past precedent and guidelines limited her to a six game suspension ruling.
The important thing here is that while no evidence existed for Ben's accusations, Watson freely admitted the sexual nature of his encounters, but insisted there wasnt anything wrong with it.... here is an early breakdown... the details got worse as they came out... he was definitely creating a bad sexual atmosphere for women he hired, who were not prostitutes.
"Two of the cases included claims of sexual assault: Watson was said in both cases to have pressured women to perform oral sex during massages and was accused in one of also having grabbed a woman’s buttocks and vagina. The civil suits alleged that Watson engaged in a pattern of lewd behavior with women hired to provide personal services, coercing them to touch him in a sexual manner, exposing himself to women he had hired for massages, or moving his body in ways that forced them to touch his penis. The incidents cited in the suits were said to have occurred from March 2020 to March 2021."
In a best case, the NFL provided evidence he committed four counts of sexual assault or harassment. That should be a minimum of 24 games at six per....
