Will Deshaun Watson get a Ben Roethlisberger-style Punishment, or a Pass?

Wastson is not clear of all the criminal charges yet

the Harris County Grand Jury declined to indict him, but he faces charges in Brazoria County where one of the "massages" took place

New Grand Jury has been paneled on one of the accusations. I'd laugh if it led to an indictment and their 250 million dollar problem child faced charges. ****** idiots.
They’re just stupid for the contract to a guy they don’t know, with question marks that put him in front of a judge, and are absolutely not holding any accountability.

I read Browns forums where one person said that Watson & Ben are completely different.

Multiple Witnesses saw Ben follow a girl into bathroom and rape her.” — if there was one witness to that he’d have been charged.

Watson was just getting a happy ending”

That and trying to apply different definitions to double standard and hypocrisy!

All I know is Ridley got a year for gambling on games if they give Watson like 6 for jacking on women it's gonna look pretty ******.

Well plus more women are coming out… I’m hearing is expected to be at least a total of 26 and probably more now… im going to laugh when they make him sit out for a year and a half and tge Browns are ******

I'm not sure how many if any games he will get suspended. I'm sure the public view will determine a lot of that through the "rog".

cleveland did theselves no favors in the public eye and as far as their fans saying BEN was worse, don't know what the hell they are talking about.

Ms. McNutty and Miss DTF were definately credible being a stalker and a drunk "peer" pressured student who retracted her staement.

20+ sober / non-stalkers (he did the stalking) seem a hell of a lot more credible

Bottom line. I get 4 starters at 11 million (2 offense two defense) per and 3 1st rounders to get a qb as good as Watson at the smallest fraction of the price. You get Watson. I'm gonna kill ya.

No sources but I've seen a couple of times, Watson is only looking at a 3-4 game suspension. That would be absolutely unnacceptable. The NFL will lose more credibility and fans if Goddell pulls something as inconsistent as that. Heck 6 games would be inconsistent based on the accusations. He should sit for an entire year but at least 6 to 8 games is the bare minimum.

The NFL will take into account that he has sat for a year (paid by Houston). If he gets 8 with 2-4 suspended wold be the "rog" doing.

either way it goes Cleveland invested just to much into aquiring him and just one play away from disaster.

although, he has to wear a Cleveland Browns jersey so you have to account for that as punishment of some degree.
That’s enough punishment. So much so, even the Chinese prefer to get their fingers chopped off for shop lifting rather than wearing a browns jersey

watson will get a minimal suspension.. you havent heard anything about it yet because rog is waiting to get further away from infractions.. less tarnish..

could be waiting for the other texas county grand jury though... Probably the only hope of any punishment.

The NFL shouldn't take the time he sat in Houston into consideration at all. He wanted out of there and that was part of the reason he didn't play. Either way, it should have no bearing on what the NFL does. A full season to be consistent. 6-8 games would still be BS but 3-4 games wouldn't even be a slap on the wrist. Ben's suspension would look exponentially worse for something exponentially less.

I read that as well and BEN lost around 2.7 mil I think. and his contract was less than 1/2 of watson's.

Ben lost way more than that on endorsement money over his career.

Looking at this from a Dad with daughters point of view, I can see a few of these accusations are coming from those seeking a payday, but there's no way it's 22 of them.
A grand jury's refusal to press charges, just means there wasn't undisputable evidence.

I don't thinknthere is anything the least wrong with happy endings provided she isn't trafficked (Kraft) or coerced (Watsin)

I fully agree with you TDX27 but the NFL has proven time and again that they are NOT fair and practical when it comes to punishment when compared to Steelers players.

They will use the year off to justify the lesser than deserved suspension was my point of contention.

he got paid the year off right? So that should not count at all

I agree. Heck, I would be less shocked if he got time served than I would be if he got 6 games or more.

100% true. The Texans were looking to trade him, thus making him inactive to lessen any chance of injury and a trade not happening. Thus, none of his time in Houston should be taken into consideration.

That said, I don't believe the NFL will hand down a suspension even remotely relevant to what's going on, as this continues.
The fact that the NFL has not done so also must be considered by the Clowns and what to do with Baker Mayfield. If they release or trade Mayfield, and Watson is suspended for a season, that's a wash of a year before preseason kickoff.

All that taken into consideration, I'd believe the NFL's only course of action is at least a one-year suspension, complete with fines and attendance of sexual assault classes, public appearances to clean up his image (and the NFL's) and the league will also strongly suggest off-record he get married and be seen at church functions going forward.

Dulac is in agreement with a year-long suspension. He said this isn't an isolated incident or two, this is over 20 incidents. Nothing criminal will come of it but there is definitely a long pattern of behavior.

If he was in BNG he would already be suspended.

But others have already said it. He is getting a much worse punishment by having **** on him24/7 now. He would have less brown on him if he went to jail.

How is this not cruel punishment?

My guess is that unless Watson comes out as James Harrison's gay lover, he'll get a 2-3 game slap on the wrist.

It wouldn't surprise me he got time served and fined that (sat out) full year's salary with additional considerations of outcome for future suspension to merit the outcry of society.

Problem solved monetarily and protect future outcry in case he needs to harden the punishment.

This. Time served while paid. Start of a new chapter.
