Winter Olymics

Pssshhh, Best Winter Olympic event by far. Curling rules.

This is the first time I've ever watched the stuff and got into it. It's just relaxing to watch for some reason...haha. I call it shuffle board on ice.

I’m in the minority in my area but I love the olympics, winter much much more than summer
Faves are freestyle ski and board and the slope styles, anything with flips is great.
I get up early so I just dvr and pick and choose what to watch the following night
I fast forward through the gay *** skating though

Obviously hockey for me.
I like luge, skiing and snowboarding as well

A russian curler apparently tested positive for a banned substance wtf?!? Why would a curler need to take something?

And those Russians cheat! Lol.

I'm enjoying women's hockey this year

I'm watching the Canadian team play the Olympic team right now.

Side note, I am a bit miffed that they refer to the Russian's playing as the Olympic team from Russia OAR. The intent was to punish Russia for systematic cheating, yet they get to still play as a team from Russia. They should be called the Olympic team OLY.

At least the announcers got it right when the US mens team played the Olympic team. NBC runs this highlight matchup during the game of the Russian/US rivalry. When they come out of it and the lead announcer is all over the rivalry, the color guy correctly states this is not Russia's team, and it is the first time the US team has played an Olympic team in competition. Crickets from the other announcer until a play happened that he could comment on.

Canada got away with an obvious high stick.
Hope the US women kicks their *** for the rematch

And yes, Russia got a slap on the wrist at worst

the USA men's hockey team is about as bad as I've sever seen them.

You've got a bunch of AHLers and a smattering of college players who never played together. Of course they are going to suck. At least when we were full amateur, the team would be able to play and practice for months before the Olympics. Now, they're just throwing a bunch of kids together for a few weeks to see what sticks.

That was one benefit for having pros. They understand systems, know how to play with each other, and had a rapport from playing with each other in Olympics and World Cups of Hockey.

And they're still ******* cheating!

The ******* curling player getting hit with a banned substance? For sliding a ******* stone and sweeping?? Are you freaking kidding me???

Pump the brakes Putin if you want your athletes to ever compete in the Olympics again...

Brilliant race! What a finish!!!

Drought over: US women win 1st Olympic cross-country gold

preview.jpg

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea (AP) The long Olympic drought is over for the United States in cross-country skiing. ... Jessica Diggins and Kikkan Randall became the first Americans to win an Olympic gold medal in the sport on Wednesday by shocking powerhouses Norway and the Sweden in the women's team sprint at the Pyeongchang Games.

Diggins passed Norway's Marit Bjoergen, the most decorated Winter Olympian of all time, on the final lap and out-sprinted Sweden's Stina Nilsson to the finish. Diggins screamed as she crossed the finish line, setting off a huge celebration for the red, white and blue. ... As Diggins collapsed to the ground, Randall jumped on her and American teammates cheered from behind the wall guarding the entrance to the course. Soon they all joined together in one huge celebration.

To put the victory in perspective, the United States had never won a medal of any kind in women's cross-country skiing prior to the race. ... The only American to previously win an Olympic medal in the sport was Bill Koch, who took silver in the 30-kilometer race in the 1976 Winter Games in Innsbruck.

Canadian women's hockey player immediately removes silver medal after loss

A Canadian women's hockey player apparently unhappy with winning a silver medal after being defeated by the U.S. team abruptly took off the medal during the ceremony after the game.

The Canadians, who had pushed the Americans around for much of the game and taken penalties for it, wept on the ice as they accepted their silver medals.

You missed a hell of a game. I watched the entire thing. To be honest when we went down 2-1 with 8 min left to play in the 3rd I figured that was going to be it. It wasn't pretty early on. I spend half the game pissed off at a nasty head shot team USA got and no penalty at all. Then bam we tied it. Then chances both ways, then OT which the us women controlled well. Then they got called on a penalty that gave Canada the powerplay with less than 2 min to go in over time. They killed it. The damn shootout went to round two and we buried it.....I was actually pretty shocked at the NHL type superstar moves put on in that shootout...epic win!

I do believe the replay is on today at 4pm for those who missed it.

**** any hockey decided by a shootout. Pyonchang 2018, Nagano 1988. Bullshit.

Grats to the great American ladies. They have been the class of the world for many years.

****** end regardless.
