WJIII Finally Returns to practice

Porter, Sutton, Wallace, Pierre and Maulet

This ^^

Porter Jr. is a big, physical, talented CB with 11 PD this season. Pierre has quietly turned into a very good CB. Sutton and Wallace are damn good and putting them up against #3 and #4 receivers is a huge bonus. Add Minkah to that mix and the secondary is a strength.

I hope the best for the man....really. Unfortunately, a back injury on an NFL player is way too risky, especially a CB. It would have been nice to see him on the field but I don't think even the Steelers expected that to happen. Get him on the practice field and work him to hell and see what he has. If any further delays or issues, let him go.

Edmunds still can't cover a TE. He was horrible when he tried the past couple of games.

And it was the trading of late round picks 3 years from now. It was an amazing trade value at the time, and even better now that we don't owe any pick!
I’m confused how wasting 3M of roll over cap space for a guy who will likely never do anything for the club is “amazing trade value” the pick means nothing one way or the other but 3M is a solid role player free agent or the difference between a mid level starter and searching the scrap heap

It’s just poor asset management

I’d gladly admit I’m wrong if he ever amounts to anything on a stat sheet for us, but the “amazing value” for a guy 10 minutes from being cut is a helluva black and gold paired shades take

Edmunds has been underwhelming based on where he was drafted. Had he been drafted in the 3rd as most people though he would be, His paly would be considered good for a 3rd rounder.
he is playing his best ball oof his career since the bye. Hopefully he signs with us again to a fair price for both sides
Spot on Blitz.

I have to give credit to Edmunds for his play recently.

For other posts, Marcus Allen is a ST only and a MLB now, not a S.

KZ has started both at SS and FS this year for us.

It's assuring he wasn't picked up on waivers by another team. We took a flyer on that type of talent. Show him what it's like to do business in Pittsburgh as opposed to CIN or WAS, and plant the seed to bring him back next year.

It is disappointing that he did't play, but the fact that it didn't cost us a draft pick is spectacular.

Spectacular. Really? That type of talent. He didn't even get a fifth year option. He is almost certainly going to be some form of FA in the offseason. They could have used the 2.75 million they got rinsed with to overpay him next year if they were so hot for him.

You are a Tomlin guy correct Stryker? Tomlin has Edmunds in to my eye over 90% of the snaps when he is uninjured (which he has been very durable). So while I'm sure no one including Tomlin thinks he is a star, you gotta admit he isn't exactly in Tomlin's doghouse, cause that included all snaps with a healthy Kazee.

first you ***** about a lost draft pick

which we didn't lose

and now you want to cry over a possible $3 mill in rollover cap space

damn this board cries when they don't make any moves

and the same ones cry when they make a move like this

It cost the team next to nothing and they may have added a supporting piece

this was a very low risk, possible high reward deal

No matter the cost, acquiring a 30-year old cornerback with a back injury was bad business. You're more likely to see a corner of that age drop off a cliff than step in as one of your top options. He would've been a really cheap offseason addition following his release from Washington.

Edmunds is durable as hell. That's a huge positive for him. Also KZ missing half the season in his first year with the team, put him behind the 8ball to get big snaps early. KZ's done a good job in increasing his snap counts each week. Plus he benefited with both starting safeties missing some time. He has 4 starts credited to him this season, but I think 2 were subpackage starts.

Yeah I don’t think we can really say many negatives about the safety position this year… it got beat up in depth right out of the gate losing Joseph and Kazee.. and performed adequately..

Edmunds is solid. He isn’t a star, but you don’t need all stars everywhere..

I do think its time to acknowledge that Tomlin’s current defense really needs three good safeties on the field simultaneously at times… the D is better since Kazee came back… Norwood is ok as a slot corner, but i don’t think he is as good playing some safety roles and I think when we got healthier in the snap count his snaps dried up…

…and trying to use ilbs in safety roles too often kneecaps us too much because they aren’t as good at covering guys as real safeties, and the size disadvantage with those small fast ilbs hurts us in the run game …

i really wish Karl didn’t go down in the preseason… I feel like had he been in the mix, we really show an improvement over the middle in the first half of the season

Killebrew is a pure special teams guy.. if Edmunds leaves, i really try to resign Kazee and Joseph and draft a guy in the mid rounds if a decent player is available…

I see nothing from Joseph to make me think he is capable of solid play and or staying healthy. I think they should quickly resign Edmunds and Sutton. Both would be my roster priorities.

I see it as JUST THAT, a very low risk / reward scenario. We did near the same with a QB and that QB seemed to be panning out, until his unfortunate demise.

I don’t know if III will make or contribute to the team, but like some have said………. The seed is planted and let’s see if it grows.

Salute the nation

If him not playing is a probability, which it obviously is it is just bad business

We want volunteers not hostages

Should be able to get the volunteer after he is cut, passes a physical and signs willingly on a cheaper deal more in line with the player’s current abilities

But hey moves like this are how teams can make sure the depth is less than stellar on the roster, increasing the chances a whole side of the ball caves when one player goes down.:.because that’s how damn thin the talent is. I’d spend that coin on an actual player next year rather than an old pipe dream of hoping a guy you may have previously coveted returns to form after redoing his contract.
