The Iron is as hot as it might be this season and the Packers are interested. What does it take for you to move him? Me the Packers 3rd in 2023 and Yosh Nijman LT. Nijman has almost 600 snaps at LT and has graded out better each year with his grading at 79.9 pass blocking and 61.6 run blocking in 200 snaps this year. He is on the last year of his contract and will be a RFA in 2023 giving us next year at a reasonable price to see what he can do. The third round pick will be mid to late but usually there's a lot of value especially with offensive and defensive linemen.

I don't see us giving him another contract so if the price is right, trading him is a good idea. I would love to get a 3rd for him. We won't get anything better than that for him.

Why would we compromise depth just to get a mid to low tier draft pick? Just makes no sense to me.

No way am I trading him. Especially after Sundays performance.
It would have to be a really good draft pick. I’m thinking a second round pick and maybe even a late rounder thrown in. But I agree, after Sundays performance I’d be hard pressed to trade him now.

For me you do these kind of things if the season is a lost cause. Not to that point...
Yet.

I’m with you Slash but what if You got offered a second round pick? Would you do it then?

I guess it would depend on who is offering. A good team would almost be like getting a third. Regardless I think you are handcuffing an already struggling offense making the move.

Claypool isn’t a ufa after the season so nothing short of a first rounder to move him. Asset value depends on production, talent potential, and control… selling low on him now makes zero sense. He easily has the potential to be a top wr in the league, but his production is only average to actually a bit above average for a #2 wr. So you are looking at a guy potentially worth far more than a third, who only will bring back a third or less.

There is no reason to move him this season… well, at least short of a gross overpayment… he isn’t expensive and he isn’t about to leave for nothing… Despite what many here think of him, he is clearly a top 50 wr in the league…

Now if we were legit contenders and needed a legit upgrade elsewhere then maybe you move a guy like him in a football trade, but just for a third? Thats just stupid asset management

If a contender was desperate and offered a 1 let's talk. He was a 2nd. He has another year on the rookie deal. No I'm not trading him for a 3rd. And I realize no one is offering a 1st but you get the picture. Even a 2nd I don't think so.

Steaight trade for a 2nd rounder LT on rookie contract

Yes but you have to find someone who will give something up for him.

I would trade him for a starting cb or OT and a 2nd.

If no one wants to pay that much ok keep him

I think Claypool is one of the most frustrating players. He has all the tools just needs to use them. Part of it is a mental thing and part is coaching. If Claypool went to a team and was coached up he would probably be a pro bowl WR. I would not trade him now unless we receive an unreal offer. WR value is way up so it is possible. If a bad team offered us a second it would be tempting.

I wouldn’t move him just for a second… if he was an ufa or about to make real bank, then fine… but what people here fail to realize is that as a non primary wr, his productivity is incredibly high even though he hasn’t really put all that talent together yet… his numbers last year were pretty closecto AJ browns, who was traded for a top 20 pick last draft… this guy has value… and we have no reason to move him for a low offer… draft picks are low percentage gambles… at worse Chase is a quality number 2 or low end number 1… his numbers hovered in that 31 to 37 area of total wr production… that isn’t bad at all… its just not as good as he is capable of…

Yeah there were reports that the Steelers might be willing to part with him because of Pickens, but anyone with a shred of credibility saying that tacked on that they would be asking for a lot back… if the Pack wanted to give us a minimum of a first, you definitely listen… but anything less then wait until after the season to deal him… he has shown enough that barring serious injury he isn’t going to drop in value on potential alone… at the draft you probably get at least a second anyhow… so why deal him now since his value probably only potentially going up

The thing that cannot be stressed enough is that Claypool only makes around 2 million next season. This guy can give at worse Starter level production for a pittance in todays NFL WR market…

Let me put this in perspective… his stats fall between the 30th and 40th best wr… the wr contracts in that area are 10 million per season… and thats at the low end of that area this season… it probably will be 12 by next year… he is tge 100th wr salary this year…next year, in 2023, with all those free agents that are going to be signed still, his contract is currently 84th… Gunner O is pricier than he is…

If anyone cannot see all the reasons that the Steelers would be idiotic to simply deal him for a second or less, they simply aren’t looking at the overall wr market or the cap value he has…

I’ll catch crap for this, but I’d trade DJ before Claypool. Pickens is an emerging #1. DJs athleticism is clearly obvious, but 3 QBs in and he’s not show to be a consistent game breaker.
Agreed here. Though i would say that Claypool has had a few seasons to put on the big-boy pants. He hasn't. He never will.

So if someone would offer a 3rd & a Mike then i'd throw in Bush no extra charge.

He didn't have on his big boy pants year 1? What about against the Bucs was his pants not biggus?

Never will is an extreme statement not really supported with the above mentioned.

You won't catch any here. I agree.

I think its quite difficult to evaluate wrs with this OC and the situation at Q. He took a step back last year but it was difficult switching offenses for everyone.
