I think the problem is Rooney sees it as a playoff win caliber team.It doesn't matter what I want. It's out of my hands. They do need to find a franchise quarterback for the long term. It appears they only win superbowls with a HOF caliber qb at the helm and of course a good defense.
But you can't find your guy,if you're constantly putting in has beens or never beens as a starter, just in hoping to win a few more games.
Growth comes with pain and until the Steelers are willing to take the pain,we will be stuck in limbo. It takes years for the most part to develop quarterbacks. Years!
Guys like Big Ben are very rare and for the Steelers drafting inside of the top 12 round one is even more rare.
I would hope Howard can be that guy and I'm sure we will get a chance to see if he has anything that will set him apart from the others.
I'm sure they will have a few new quarterbacks either by draft or free agent, so at least a backup plan will be in place.
Rodgers would only make sense if they had a superbowl caliber team and needed a sound minded vet with a good arm. I don't see the Steelers as being all that close yet.
I'm sure we will have a better picture by the end of camp and preseason later this year.
As long as he sees it as that the expectation will be just that.
