Something seems off here. Maybe Mayo will be great, who knows? But he’s just a LB coach. Cowher was Marty’s protege. Marty promoted him from special teams to LB and finally DC. He was being mentored to be a head coach. Does it seem Mayo was getting that from BB? No. Why would he not have been DC or assistant head coach?
Why Mayo? I understand why a guy named Kraft likes Mayo, but is that all it is? He likes the guy? Have you ever once heard about Jerod Mayo as a young up and coming coach? We heard that about Demeco Ryans as he was a successful DC. We hear that about a lot of young coaches. Not Mayo.
Conspiracy theory time. We know that the NFL has become committed to DEI. Is it possible that part of Kraft’s penance for the massage parlor was a wink nod with the league that he’d hire a black head coach to succeed BB? That would explain Mayo having a clause in his contract to be the next HC. Maybe that was done to satisfy the league after Kraft had his rub and tug.

I’m going to defend BB post Brady. I think the biggest reason for decline is that OL fell apart. That was one of the biggest keys to the Pats success. That always had one of the best OL that could pass block and provide an effective run game. The OL fell apart after the retirement of the great OL coach Dante Scarnecchia. Plus, OL no longer come from college ready to play. Very few are plug and play starters.
People seem to think the Pats moved on from Brady. It was the other way around. Brady saw the pats decline coming and ditched them for a better situation in Tampa. Brady wasn’t sticking around for a rebuild.

Either the coach matters or he doesn't. Belicheat has as many SB appearances then Tomlin has playoff wins. I think Ben, Manning and Mahomes have as much physical talent as Brady. The three of them have the same amount of SBs as him because Belicheat and Brady had it figured out.

If you somehow miraculously can distinguish the % of Honest Abe VS the % of cheating ***-hole, then I will respect that in the appropriate amount.
If he was such a great coach, why the cheating? Why the struggle and it started the minute Ernie left, coincidental?

There was only one proper outcome with his extensive cheating. He should have been banned from the sport with everything revealed in detail. With a constant reminder that it would not be tolerated or accepted.

It might have been something tastier than spam here and there. Maybe a year or two of fillet mignon...But without seeing exactly what was in the refrigerator I will continue knowing something smelled like ****.

Add in that from the punishment of the original “SPY-GATE”, if billicheat was caught cheating again, it was to be banned for life.
Then deflate-gate came and instantly he was publicly denying he knew anything about it——— right, ask Shawn Payton about not knowing anything about it as he was suspended with the realm that he was head coach and he should know what his players are doing……….
Just to many things to let him off the hook, ****-ing cheating ***-hole.

Fans tend to look at Brady when he went to a better coach and won it all. As see see. But I do see, I see that D that performed light years ahead of any defense in the history of. Statistically they blew a hole in the roof while other teams were just bystanders. They defensively always looked like juggernauts, then Ernie left and they came down to earth. Yeah Brady was capable, but you did everything humanly possible to make him look like Captain America.
Know the offensive plays, steal playbooks, block headphones, pay a ref or two, etc. etc. etc. So extensive that a league commissioner had to destroy the evidence. Nothing ever in the history of the league was destroyed outside of that. Teams and coaches have been suspended, fined, draft picks taken. But never was anything impacted so extensive that something have to be covered up like they were just burying a nuclear bomb.
I see them clearly like a sky free of clouds. They just keep throwing us clouds and I just can't stand the rain outside of my window.

I can't help but notice you caught a nasty bug after a night at the strip club.I watched that one in a strip club in New Orleans with Bama playing for the natty against Miami the next night. ( it was a loss)
Went out to the French Quarter at 7 with my group of 12 friends and lost them immediately in the NYE crowd at Lafayette Square. Didn't see them until I returned to the hotel at 5AM.
A few days after I got home I had the worst illness of my life - some funky flu that almost all of us got. I literally couldn't move from the bed for a few days.
I recovered enough to watch the Steelers go down against Denver ... it was a close game though!

I dislike the Pats* more than any other team in the history of sports. I revel in their dismantle....with lust. However, Bill Belichik is one hell of a football coach. There is definitely an argument to be made for tarnish here. But how much becomes quite laughable and to me pretty much ends after spygate which was a long damn time ago.
At what point were teams using straight communication to the dot linebacker and the qb. At that point there are no signals to steal. If Ernie Adams had the ability to predict what you would do based upon formation.....who's fault is that.
Here is what I saw from Belicheat coached teams:
1. Didn't usually hurt themselves. You win more by other teams mistakes then you do by your own greatness.
2. If you didn't do what you were supposed to you are gone. Best example why on ******* earth would I have my return man bring a ball out ever when they rarely make the 35. I'm risking a crippling penalty or worse a turnover for a 30 percent chance of 10 yards.
3. This is the biggest for me. You routinely saw them come out in the first 1/4 of the season looking very vulnerable. Like let's say their offensive line looks like ***. By the end of the year they would at least look ok. That my friends is coaching. Mike Tomlin's answer to a problem like that is next year's draft and Free Agency.
4. Unlike a Tomlin coached team (we are what we are). Belichik teams take away what you are best at and exploit what you cannot do well. In essence the character of his teams was being an amoeba. The team can't stop the run we better have a decent run game. The team refuses to give up big plays we exploit the middle.
I hate the team. I dislike the guy more than any other coach in the history of sports. But writing off all that winning while drafting in the bottom 10 picks virtually every year as cheating is completely delusional. I think the biggest part was he picked a certain type of player to compliment his qb. If you did not buy into what he was doing. You were gone. No coddling. He didn't give a **** if you had pedigree or were undrafted. Whoever could help him the most played. If you think Devin Bush or Jarvis Jones plays the snap count they got with Pittsburgh in New England you my friend are high.
I will end with this. My mentor coach told me if I can get good film on a team and I have reasonable answers in players on defense they are pretty much screwed. And if I cannot get good film it flips. I suspect that was always the deal with Bill. Some people just have that little tell or predictability. How the hell did they beat the Steelers with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe the last two years. Tomlin is a wide open book to Belichik. He does exactly what you expect him to do.

I think outside of Brady his biggest downfall became clouded judgment about assistants like bringing in a defensive guy to be OC so wolf boy Steve could be DC. Trying to pass things off to your kids and friends has been the downfall of many.
