Wow...Sunday Ticket not such a great deal this year

week 1 this year has 10 games at 1 and just 2 at 4...

I think that's because of the U.S. Open tennis tournament on CBS.

On most Sundays there will be at least four late-afternoon games, two on one network and at least two on the other.

But there really should be more than that. The later in the afternon, the more people are watching TV. And Sunday night is the largest TV-viewing night of the week.

Real conversation from less than 5 mins ago.

DTV: what can i do for you today
Me: i noticed my bill went up, can you tell me if im out of contract?
DTV: it looks like your contract is up in 8 days. Let me see what promotional offers i can give you now.
Me: ok
DTV: it looks like i can knock $60 off your bill and you keep all your same stuff.
Me: great, does that include sunday ticket max
DTV: no, sorry. Let me see what i can do on that.
Me: great....

(5 minute wait)

DTV: thanks for holding, i can do the NFL sunday ticket for free with a 12 month contract.
Me: so i get all my same stuff, hbo, showtime, hd, DVD and Sunday ticket max for $60 less than my current monthly bill?
DTV: yup. Let transfer you to our third pay confirmation department....
Me: thanks.

Prob the easiest year yet. Last year they wouldn't budge, i had to pay like $99 for it.

Jets game national television, minutes to go and the jets are behind. In this era teams do not kneel down they run the ball. the game is no longer televised and the movie Heidi starts. Herm Edwards if I recall recovers a fumble and runs it back for a touchdown or gets them close and the Jets score and win the game. That is an old guys memory and may not be as accurate as I like.

Way off. You are confusing Heidi with the Miracle in the Meadowlands.

I know DTV has upset many here, however to an extent they have learned some from their ways. I have been getting the ticket every year since 1997. (Think it started in 95) IIRC the first year I paid $119. Then it was bumping up gradually. I think it topped out a few years back at like $270. They must have lost a ton of viewers because now they have brought it down in the 150 ballpark (Dont know for sure because I got it free with a genie system upgrade) I was going to leave myself doing the math figuring going to see 11 games at $25 each game in the sports bar, I was going to bail.

Being an out of market fan, its a necessity. Plus I love getting to watch the other games that effect our playoff positioning as the season goes on. In addition, its an opportunity for nearby displaced steeler fans to gather, and enjoy a game, grub, and a growler,

Are they back to offering to those who do not subscribe to DTV?

Any websites where I can stream the games live?

This just seems too good to be true and I'm reading stuff like..

Once you find these streaming sites on the Web, you’ll notice the deep selection of games available to you, but they’re often low quality. Sites like First Row Sports, Justin.tv, or VIPBox Sports are some of the most popular when it comes to streaming sporting events online. While these might be of use, the hassle of avoiding spam and dealing with low quality playback often make these services more of an inconvenience than a help.

or if I want to put up with a delay, I could do this ?

What say you experienced Nationers ?

Are they back to offering to those who do not subscribe to DTV?

I've done this the last 4 years. Typically they don't advertise it until 3-4 days before the first regular season games start, but the DTV website for the Ticket will have an option to subscribe to the streaming-only version. I think it typically runs $249, and I have not heard of anyone being able to get a better deal if they're not a DTV customer, but let me know if you try. The down side is that the first 1-4 weeks every year have been like they're doing this for the very first time, and game feeds keep dropping or the quality is ****. Usually by the second or third week they mostly figure **** out and you get near-HD quality.

Last year there was a deal with Madden when you could buy the 25th anniversary special edition for $100 and got a code for the Ticket streaming option, so it was a hell of a deal. Haven't heard of any similar deal with this year's iteration of Madden though.

I know there are ways to use VPN/proxies or editing your cookies to trick the NFL Live website into thinking you're logging in from the Netherlands or whatever, but usually those get shut down throughout the day when they figure out what's going on

Fortunately, I think I had every game on my T.V. without Sunday ticket... I figure it will be the same way this year... I'd hate to make the choice but I'd rather go to a sports bar for the games and spend the Sunday ticket money there. Of course, I have a wife and three daughters at home so going to the sports bar is a great alternative although I do have one daughter that always goes with me.

It was the "Heidi Game," in 1968. So Herm Edwards was 14 at the time.

Jets were ahead by 3 with 65 seconds left. NBC went to a commercial, then the movie "Heidi." Meantime, the Raiders scored, then the Jets scored, then Raiders scored again to win 43-32.

I did a long story on the 30th anniversary of the game when I was a sports writer. The Jets' PR man even sent me copy of their play-by-play of the game.

I ought to get Namath and some Raider Hall-of-Famers to sign it.

I tried for real to cancel ST this year and was told they couldn't cancel it because I was already getting it for free. I tried to call bullshit, but the CSR swears it is completely free this year. That has never happened no many how many times I've called and threatened to cancel with no intention of doing so. They must have known I really really meant it this time ;)

Just completed my annual phone call. Mission accomplished. Called and asked for customer retention. Informed them I have been a loyal customer for 14 years (which is true) and that I was highly disappointed with new customers getting the ST for free when I have been paying them for 14 years and I wanted to cancel my service. Without hesitation the gentlemen said I will take care of it for you and gave me ST Max at no cost. It really was that simple....entire process took 15 minutes.

Well I just hung up from my call and I was not as lucky, They wanted to offer me $8 off the sunday ticket for the next 6 months. I ended up cancelling the sunday ticket and my movie channels. I will try the email route and see how that goes or try again with another call......I am bummed out now. lol

You are getting the Heidi Bowl and the Miracle at the Meadowlands mixed up. Miracle was Herm playing for the Eagles picks up a fumble by the Giants to win game when all the Giants had to do was run out the clock. The Heidi bowl was what Ghost described.

My annual call didn't go as planned either.

They first offered me the $8 bucks off which I declined and told them I would have to cancel.

They then upped it to $15 and threw in Sunday ticket max for free. So I'm at $24.99. More than I want to pay but cheaper than the bar.

I got FREE Sunday Ticket Max this year + $30 off my monthly bill for a year

I lead a pure life
