WR's

Brown has looked very good in OTA's. If he keeps it up in camp, he may push someone off the roster.

Sorry, just can't get excited for these practices. Need to see these guys in live action against actual competition.

Lance Moore says he can kick all them young boys *****

well, that's what he says

I agree partially. It has been two crappy off seasons and we have a lot of good, young talent and speed. Hearing reports of them looking good, even in OTA's gets the juices flowing for camp and preseason to start. I think this team has a lot of potential even after 2 mediocre seasons.

Would like to see Moyle make it but to many faces in front of him plus his ability on special teams lack. He seems to have good hands but Brown is getting the press.

Just about every report here is good. When is the last time that you've heard that someone looks like garbage in OTA's?

Yeah, Moye beat out J. Brown last year but I don't know if he can do it again. I do think he's good enough that someone will pick him up if he gets cut. Tallest WR on the team and deceptively fast though. Has that going for him.

Move DHB to CB, Hell Ike has made a career out of droping passes.
This is probably the funniest post I have read all week, while at the same time has some credence, I mean most CB's in the league were at one time in their development WR's.

I see what you mean..

However I often wonder if its true or not. Does moye really have a shot vs. Lance Moore who is under contract? Does a late rounder or UDFA really have a chance to unseat uncle Jarvis?
They played ziggy hood there on the left tackle so long.........
Beachum was better than adams on the left all along. but he was a 7th Round pick. He didn't get a shot until Adams screwed the pooch and SOMETHING had to be done.
Adams was a 2nd round pick ...

So I wonder whether EGOS of the coaches or GM get in the way... Or money spent.
Usually I would say EGO more than money, but it seems to me that oft true Steelers stone wall that rookies don't start is being torn down brick by brick....the win now mentality is forcing the hand, and it seems even the Steelers are willing to change their sometimes antiquated "policies".

Last year stats for him were not that impressive, he produced at I think 1/2 to 1/3 the level of Crotchery. Not saying he is a bad guy and could not take a spot, at this point he is just one of the guys. I really thing all of the slots behind brown are up for grabs this year and any of these guys could get one of them. The fact that no one seems to have a big edge means it will be up to who works hard and shows something this year and it could be Moore.
Even if he wasn't hurt, think about it, name me Drew Brees favorite target? You can't. Look at FF stats, each week he has a new favorite weapon, if anybody was his go to guy it was Jimmy Graham. Moore is a solid lock to make the team.

Whatever happened to Justin Brown ?. I remember this guy looking real good in a couple preseason games last year. He appeared to look better than Wheaton at the time. He made some tough circus catches, and then fell off the face of the earth.

Hearing how he has improved is good, just want to see it.

I honestly believe barring injury, DHB could be the odd man out, can't have a WR with hands like feet. There is nothing more disappointing for a wide open receiver to drop a perfectly thrown ball that could have won the game....and that is the kind of thing DHB does.

Good point. Seems there is always one.

Sometimes more than one, Hills, Urbik, Sweed, Davis, Jamain Stephens I think he is the ot that was so highly rated and bombed badly, and others.

Jamian Stephens, wasn't he the lard @ss that couldn't finish the run test? What a waste!

I thought he was the winner of the outland trophy and couldn't block. He also had some issues with a banned substance. If I have the name right he was a very high draft choice that went Bust for us at Offensive Tackle.

He didn't win the outland trophy. He went to North Caolina A&T...

Stephens is infamously known by Steelers fans for an incident that occurred on July 30, 1999 the first day of Steelers training camp. That day, a visibly out-of-shape Stephens (he appeared to be several pounds over his listed weight of 330 pounds) failed to complete a series of 40-yard runs that were traditional on the first day of camp under Bill Cowher. He nearly collapsed after the 11th of 14 scheduled runs, then barely walked through the remaining ones. Cowher was so disgusted by this embarrassing display that he cut Stephens hours later.

ffrom wiki.

I miss Cowher. Stephens ended up playing like three years in Cincy.

Not just Stephens, but my head actually exploded when we drafted Steve Conley.

The only Outland Trophy winner the team ever drafted was Kris Farris (T from UCLA - 3rd round, 1999) and you're right, he couldn't block.

Thanks, I don't think he is the guy I am thinking of either. There was another guy that we drafted fairly high as an offensive tackle who had an issue with some supplements and was looking at a suspension for performance enhancing drugs. His performance did not look enhanced either. I just can't think of his name but most folks initially thought he was a great pick, both pundits and posters if my memory is accurate.

Tom Ricketts tested positive for steroids at the combine in 1989. He was our 2nd first round pick that year taken at #24, I think. Never amounted to much.
