XFL going to make another appearance in 2020

The XFL got us Tommy Maddox.

I think McMahon sees an opportunity.
NFL ratings are plummeting, NFL is going the way of ESPN and getting political and away from actual sports, NFL is limiting hitting, the speed of the game is dragging because of replay and judgement calls.
It sounds like McMahon wants to go back to 70/80s style football, like he tried to when he first launched the XFL, but this time take out all the "wrestling/sports entertainment" he injected the first time.
Everything McMahon said at the presser seems like a good start, and it most certainly could be the right time, but it'll be all about the execution.

I'm all for it. I actually loved the XFL. Never had an issue with it. Sure the talent level wasn't as high as the NFL, but it was people playing football, that wanted to, and worked hard to score for their teams. It was also a great alternative to baseball, which is just unwatchable IMHO.

I can go to a baseball game to socialize, but I don't go to watch the game anymore, and there is no way I have a game on TV. The pacing is too slow for me.

Maximum violence. Spearing, clubbing is ok. Hitting qb is ok. Halftime only 7 minutes. Kickoff from the 30 yd line. No extra point, only 2 point conversions

Football will never be resurrected by becomming more violent. Not going to happen. On its current trajectory it will be gone. If you have sons that play as I do, you realize that it is a little different when its your own child on the field. If they dont continue to work to make the game safer there simply wont be anyone to play. Ryan Shazier was severely injured because of the way he tackled. He was an undersized linebacker that could run with anyone. He had to launch himself at people to tackle effectively. He paid a steep price.

If the XFL wants any chance at being successful, and not just another footnote in the history books like it was the first time around, it needs to look at and address the issues affecting the NFL and modify it's rules accordingly.

1. No league can afford to ignore the elephant in the room in CTE, but at the same time you will never take the head out of football so it will always be an issue. At the same time, when incidental contact with a helmet costs you 15 yards, or an OL hitting the helmet of a QB after trying to bat down a pass costs you 15 yards...you have taken it to the extreme. Head hunting should be illegal, and I don't know too many players that can't watch a hit and tell you when it was a deliberate head shot or not.
2. Address the catch rule. This is simply a matter of establishing when possession occurs. Once you have possession anything that occurs afterwards is a fumble. Once a receiver has possession he is a ball carrier and all rules relating to the ball carrier now apply to the WR. This includes the goal line and also lowering your head after a catch.
3. Address instant replay, if you elect to have replay, have a panel of 3 or 5 reviewers to make the decision. One person should not have sole power in this area
4. As part of rule #1, address form tackling. If you want to make the game safer, mandate that proper form be used. Ryan Shazier is a prime example of someone that should have been corrected long before his injury for the way he launched himself crown first into almost every tackle.
5. Officials should be made FT, start with kids coming out of college that are not good enough to play professionally, they are used to the speed of the game and have a better feel for the game, and will be athletic enough to keep up with the game.
6. Keep politics out of the game. If you don't want to have to make a decision on players kneeling, remove the obstacle and keep players in the locker room until after the presentation of colors and the Anthem have been played.
7. EVERY player should sign a release waiver holding the league, owners, players union...etc harmless in the event of any injury or health related issues that may result in the future as a result of playing the game of football. Every player knows by now that a physical game like football will have long term health related issues and a risk of injury. Most of the players will earn more money than any other job they would be qualified for. If you think the compensation is worth the risk, sign on up. If not, find something else to do.

Football will NEVER go back to what it was in the 70's and 80's, and probably rightfully so, as we have become more aware of player health and the long term effects of the game. However, I think the league can be viable if it can handle it's due diligence in terms of financial planning and ensuring that there are proper funds to keep it afloat as it gains traction. In addition, like I said before, IF it addresses the issues that have plagued the NFL, I think fans would watch a league that does not have the same repeated issues that the NFL has.

The XFL needs to do one thing to utterly wreck the NFL model.... Draft players regardless of age.... steal the College stars asap.... no waiting three years....

Man if they did that Im buying all my friends and family season tickets too.... that would force the NFL and college to fix their very broken ****

Do this stated above^
-Get rid of replay
-play the game fairly/minimal flags
-allow big hits like the 90's NFL

All this adds up, you can challenge and dethrone the NFL

Vince McMahon to renew XFL Football where all players STAND

Other than the name, this version will have little in common with the old XFL, he said.

There will be no cheerleaders, McMahon said. Players with criminal records will not be welcome. Political statements, such as kneeling during the national anthem, will be prohibited.

Another thing that killed the sport was that it was in the summer. Football is a cold weather sport. I'd start the season after the Super Bowl.

No instant replay, allow them to play the sport again without over officiating everything and I'll watch it. Especially in the dead of winter/Spring.

I think mad is on to it. Draft players right away like baseball and hockey does. Challenge the NCAA and the NFL for talent with fair pay and endorsements.

Young men will jump at the chance to go pro right away and get “paid”. Maintain legitimacy without the silly theatrics and you could see the end of the NFL and college football as we know it. However, it is McMahon and he can’t avoid the shenanigans.

Yeah

but will there be a Pittsburgh team?

They will have names like Enforcers and Maniacs and Xtreme. Who the **** can cheer for that ****. Big Enforcers game tonight. Cant wait. Secondly McMahon will be owning all the teams. How the hell is that gonna work. You think the NFL looks shady.

They're playing at different times, the xfl will start when the nfl stops. Further more, the xfl can't afford to pay like the nfl can. So a college kid ditching school for the xfl would be a disaster career move.

And all the talk about the national anthem, jesus christ. Itll be two years from now, 50 other things will have come and gone and nobody will even care about players kneeling. And good luck getting a tv package these days. It was hard enough in 2001, but now, knock yourself out. Have fun trying to pry eyeballs away from tv shows and other streaming content to watch teams and players nobody has ever heard of.

I read somewhere that "HE HATE ME" is making a come back...so there is that.

I know Kurt Warner played on the Iowa Barnstormers...we called it arena bowl.

Kurt Warner is the most underrated QB of all time. He made playing at the highest level look easy.

Actually streaming media is one of his gimmicks he will add. Periodic adds will pop up and that’s it. Watch games anywhere and deal with an occasional add pop up. As long as placement isn’t intrusive, this could be brilliant and bring in amazing revenue...to pay players.
