Yep. We should’ve started Mason 2 weeks ago.

Mason played like an ok QB that actually has a set of stones and was auditioning to keep his career alive. It was good to watch the way he was playing with his “house money” he stumbled into.

Mitch gave what he always has, no stones and a weak skill set.

Please please please put T Biscuit out to pasture already

I find all of this new Rudolph love hilarious. Oh so many on here wanted to run him out of town a couple years ago and certainly were shocked when we resigned him this year. There are team fair weather fans and obviously player fair weather fans.

With that said, I think Rudolph earned a contract to be our QB2 next year while Trubisky should be cut or traded.

I watched the the recording of the game last night. The playcalling looked simplified and improved.

I noticed they ran Rudolph under center a lot more. Perhaps Cowher’s interview on the Pat Macafee show caught the coaches attention?

If they keep up that playcalling then that’ll make Kenny look good too. But I feel Rudolph trust the deep ball more.

Glad to see my Dawg Pickens show up too

This, but still want Red nose to finish out these last two games, then make my decision in a more decisive thought process.

Rudolf could be that gem, behind the scene that worked his *** off to get better.

DK Daily Shot Steelers had a great segment on Rudolf’s Developement while he was sitting these last 2.5 years.

I’m glad for Mason, the better he plays the better the team is. Mason would NOT have done this 2.5 years ago. He made good use of his bench time, a rare quality in sub-level players.

Considering what he went through with the helmet and the Miles Garret lying about the racial thing on th e field, MASON is solid character, which never was a dispute.

I hope MASON keeps getting the opportunity to play and we see continual Developement. It will do good for Kenny Pickett to sit the rest of the year.

REGARDLESS, Mitch needs jettisoned

Salute the nation

I do think Rudolph deserved a shot. I do think he did well enough. Good for him and his future. But from an overall season standpoint we would most likely have been where we are no matter who played. We have watched Tomlin have his normal season of stupefying losses, close wins and generally painful coaching. And every year, unless raw talent exceeds the coaching, we regress back to the Tomlin mean of being a 500'ish (non-losing) team.

Nice to beat the Bengals. Nice to win a Christmas weekend. Probably not good for major coaching changes or our draft position.

It's one game against an opponent they play twice a year. Mason was an element of surprise since he has zero recent film on him.

Go do it again in Seattle.

I haven't had the chance to see the game yet since I was at a family dinner. I was watching bleacher report and was just shaking my head. Most of it was over the last 3 weeks. Kinda pissed me off.

Too little too late. Again.

After witnessing the debacle against the Cardinals, I don't believe anybody would have criticized giving Rudolph a chance. Then the idiocy against the Patsies****?? Fugheddiboutit.

What’s funny is back in 2021 as well as last year and when he was resigned, many here were ready to run Mason out of town. Especially after that Lions tie. Mason had trouble with his intermediate and short passing game. At times he resembled Kordell with his worm burners. I was skeptical of Mason because of what I had watched him do during the 2019 season as well as the Lions game.

I wanted Mitch to succeed because he has all of the traits you want in a quarterback and he had done it. Watching Mitch in Latrobe the past couple of years-as a matter of fact, all 3 of them. Mitch was the most consistent that I watched. He made all of the throws and moved the ball efficiently. Heck, he’s not one of those first round douchebag guys. He’s a good guy. It sucks he couldn’t find what made him a pro bowl quarterback and put it all back together again at game time.

I hope Mason does get to start and does well against Seattle and shows the same moxy he did last night.

The well-founded criticism of Rudolph in 2019 was his repeated reliance on short throws. He would go an entire game without putting the ball more than 10 yards downfield.

That has changed. He was really good last night - REALLY good. He hit receivers in stride and on time. He was sacked just once. When he threw to Warren, that was only after he made the progressions - looking deep, middle, covered so look next, covered and only THEN then find Warren for 7 yards instead of spinning left into a sack. Compare to Kenny, stare at one guy, if not open, wait, see if he gets open, if not, spin left into sack.

I have been a Kenny Backer but if the Steelers are serious about competing for a playoff spot, they need to start Rudolph the next two games.

Lots of idiots here laughed when some of us wanted Mason to start over Mitch. Feel free to own up
Makes you wonder what it would look like if Mason started all season?
If he had, 1 thing is garunteed, Kenny never comes off the bench and plays like mason did had the roles been reversed.
If they are dumb enough to go back to kenny I wouldn't be shocked if Kenny never has a game with 30 points and 2 td.

Kenny still is a bit of an unknown. Not as much as Mason is. I think Kenny is settling into that quality backup role lots thought he would be when overdrafted. I think the hope originally was he’d be a Kirk Cousins type QB. Then I hoped for a Ryan Fitzpatrick type QB. Then Teddy Bridgewater. I think Teddy might be his ceiling. And he’s projecting more like a Kyle Boller or Christian Ponder.

So one thing is clearly evident to me after watching some of the game last night.

Mason ****ing Rudolph is clearly the better QB of the three, and probably has been most of the year, and probably would have them in a solid playoff spot right now if coach Super Shades would have checked his pride at the door and put him in one of the 3 games they just lost. As soon as I seen Mason dropping back, going through his progressions and finding the open receiver that is all I needed to see. Kenny never does that, and Mitch does that and then throws the ball right into triple coverage.

But hey, we are supposed to be excited for next year!

Oh and next year we are REALLY gonna get'm!

Fraaaaaaaap.

I'm not saying he's going to be the next Ben Roethlisberger but he definitely earned a shot to finish out the season. One thing that you can't look past when comparing QBs is the guy's height and weight. I forgot how big the "kid" was. He's in the same mold as #7 and that should help him get a better angle on his passes than KP or MT which would hopefully lead to fewer passes being batted down at the line and a little higher sight angle too. This should open up the middle of the field.

He seems like a player the others rallied around. Highsmith definitely had a lot of praise and respect for him. As a leader on the team he knows what he gives to the team from a daily work ethic and attitude perspective that we cannot see. That speaks volumes.

Ru-dy, Ru-dy, Ru-dy.

It’s funny how they say Tomlin always has the team in it until the end. First of all there are seven playoff spots out of sixteen AFC teams. Damn near half the teams qualify now. Plus look how many teams are still in the hunt at this stage of the season. All you have to do is play 500 or a bit over it. It’s not too much of an accomplishment to be in the hunt about now.
They will never win any championships with Tomlin ever again. He needs to move on as well as the organization.

Rudolph was 15/25 for 95 yards without the two big completions to Pickens, so I don't want to overstate his game. However, I mentioned yesterday with competent QB play, this offense is much better and that's what we saw yesterday. Those two big plays happened because 1. Mason could actually connect on a slant, something Pickett really struggles with and 2. Mason actually took deep shots to his receivers allowing Pickens to make a play. He probably should've had another completion if not for DPI by Mike Hilton that wasn't called and had DJ wide open for a TD where he burnt Hilton but overthrew it.

With that said, this game is maybe 17-11 or 20-11 with Pickett yesterday because he hasn't made those plays.

Yes---my biggest concern when they drafted Kenny was his physicality...or lack thereof.....and i am not just talking about his hands.

I also came away impressed with this young mans attitude, presence, humility, respect from his teammates, and his spirituality....
Now I'm convinced that he did not use these derogatory words towards Myles Garrett during that terrible incident.

I never thought he said anything racial. That was just Myles trying to save face after displaying bad behavior.

I always thought he made **** up.
