Zach Wilson get on with your life’s work please

People need to relax.... We are one game into the season and played one of the best teams in the league. Alot of the best QBs in the league played like hot garbage in week 1. I know people don't have faith in Canada rightly so, but the offense looked much improved during the preseason so i think game 1 was a fluke. We will see what happens tonight
I am relying heavily on this.

The entire preseason our units generally seemed to be playing down a level of competition (starters vs 2s, 2s vs 3s)

Couple that with playing vanilla defenses with no scheme and voila…Canada’s offense ran by KP looked pretty decent

Not sure why anyone is putting much stock in preseason other than that’s the only chip Tomlin-Canada-Austin-Pickett will be sniffing

So lean an in and embrace it, we’re the champs!!! 3-0 baby…why they still playin’ games?

Here's what I don't understand. Couldn't watch the game but what I am hearing is that Kenny "missed throws". To me that means it was not so much good defense but rather him having poor accuracy.
I don't care if it was preseason, if he was consistently accurate all preseason then wtf happened?
First year starer jitters?

From what I understand, it was mostly poor footwork mechanics from him being under pressure or his expectations of being under pressure…

I'm not putting alot of stock in the preseason, but Kenny was accurate and threw a variety of passes. Kennys accuracy and vision were very poor. I think both are correctable. I'm going to go with opening day nerves and a good defense

Maybe 49er jitters. Whatever reason as one solid game wouldn't be enough to anoint him a bad game isn't enough to worry about...yet.
But this is the issue. He hasn't had that one solid game yet. He's made some great plays, yes, but he hasn't come close to putting it all together for one game.

I’m looking for the game Howell had yesterday. Howell put the “Redskins” on his back and got them tied up. Once that happened Rivera went back to a normal offense and they won the game. 299 2 td 0 int. His deep td to McLauren was beautiful.

Thats it. The pressure. Didn't think of that. Thats why I'm not a football mind. lol

Wow is anyone here old enough to remember Terry Bradshaw's first 3 seasons as a Steeler? Pickett's performance last week was a Horror Show! Wilson still might come around...you've got to give a QB 4 years!

I don’t hate Kenny, wish him the best
If he’s actually good that would be awesome

But damn when ya look at the stats side by side if it is indeed time for Wilson “to get on with his life’s work” as the OP suggests it would stand to reason Kenny is also nearing that threshold of “time to get on” as the older and statistically worse player

Obviously just one game of suck so far this year and Kenny could/should improve, but for all the talk of how great Kenny looked that just looked like more of the same crap from last year. Hope the growth/work shows up soon Cuz I guess players only get 1-2 years before it’s time to get on

Personally I hope Wilson keeps sucking for the Jets all season, it’s just kinda fun watching the Jets struggle and damn the Steelers need some company at the bottom

Kenny won’t be leaving anytime soon, crappy play or not. Coach Tomlin doesn’t give up that easy on 1st round picks. I see O’Canada being used as the ‘scape goat come end of season. Fire him and Tomlin’s JOB is safe. That will extend the KP8 career.

I had to read it a couple times.
I think what Slash meant was that IF Kenny had a solid game, it wouldn't anoint him no more than him having a bad game spells doom and gloom.

Let the Jets grab a scrap heap QB like Colt McCoy. Why should we deplete our team to help them? We have the best QB room in the NFL and after what happened to the 49ers last year in the PO, I'd hold onto our 3 guys for that insurance policy.

btw, how would you like to be a Broncos fan and have to watch Russell Wilson every week? Good God his is terrible. Hoping KP brings it tonight!

My memory only goes to 1975 on. The first superbowl vs the vikings I only remember purple and my relatives jumping around acting crazy. After that I'm good...haha.

The expectations of quarterbacks are much higher now out of the gates than back then. Thankfully Chuck Noll didn't trade Terry away when he asked for one. He had to go through the fire to come out forged. You need them to play big in the big moments, like the playoffs and superbowl.
The offense they're running is trash and they still have no running game that's solid. We've had 3 quarterbacks now who can't make it go. You can polish a turd all you want and it will never shine. It's a turd. You'll just stink.

On defense they'd better sell out to stop the run. Play man alot more this game. Make Watson beat you.

That's why my price would be a round 1 draft pick for Mitch. Take it or leave it.

But we have seen many bad games. We want to see that one great game. To at least show he has it in him. He has 14 starts so I would say it is too early to say he should have had that game. But here are some of the other QBs in the 2022 draft class who all have with less starts.

Sam Howell - 3 starts
27/39 69% 299 yards 2 td 0 int 108.8 QB rating

Desmond Ridder - 6 starts
19/30 63% 224 yards 224 yards 2 td 0 int 108.2 QB rating

Bailey Zappe - 4 starts
24/34 70% 309 yards 2 tds 0 int 118.4 QB rating

Brock Purdy - 11 starts
16/21 76% 185 yards 2 tds 0 int 134 QB rating
17/26 65% 217 yards2 td 0 int 117 QB rating
15/22 68% 234 yards 2 td 1 int 114.6 QB rating
22/35 63% 284 yards 2 td 1 int 95.4 QB rating
15/20 75% 178 yards 2 td 0 int 141.2 QB rating
19/29 66% 220 yards 2 td 0 int 111.3 QB rating

As you can see one is head and shoulders above the others. But the other two have very small sample sizes and have had very good games. You could see they have the potential to be the guy. So far no one can say they have seen that from Pickett. Well, some do but everyone who knows football just laughs at them and their homerism.

That's a lot for him and a team would have to be very desperate. Very desperate.

I think Rudy will be gone for a 5th or better before Mitch is gone for a 1st.

Yep exactly what I was getting at.😉

Yeah despite the ignorant pessimistic type of posters, Kenny has had a few nice moments last season. Anyone who knows football and isn't brain dead knows he has potential. Will we see that potential come to a head ? who knows. It doesn't take a homer to realize these things, just ones that aren't pompous know it alls, that really don't know as much as they think they do. Legends in their own minds. Those types get laughed at constantly.

I know what he meant. Point is, no need to anoint him because he hasn’t played the game or string of games where it should even be considered.

Will learn alot about Kenny tonite under the bright lights of Monday Night Football...
I would have to think he has nerves already...

I hope Kenny uses his legs more tonite......thats one way to settle in and lose the jitters..
I watched Howell from Washington yesterday do just that and went on to get a "W" and threw some dimes..
Kenny's pedigree was higher than Howell's coming out of school last year....

Kenny Pickett has the talent to win, he just needs to RELAX and get some help from the running game.
Bijon Robinson looked the part of a first round back yesterday for Howell and the Commanders, lets hope our first round back does the same for Pickett and the Steelers..

He has had some decent comebacks that seems lost on a few.

Man, you throw out a lot of name calling over an opinion that doesn’t align with yours. I don’t think the guy is any good. Big deal. Will he be? I don’t know, but I do know that in 12 starts the guy has been pretty bad.

Matt Canada is a problem. A big one. So is Kenny Pickett’s inconsistency. I’ll continue to talk about him as he plays in the present. I will applaud what he does well, and criticize what he doesn’t do well. You’re free to skip over my posts if you don’t like my thoughts on Kenny Pickett’s play.

I wasn't referring to you.You shouldn't assume. 😉

And all his starts haven't been bad. That I will have to highly disagree with you on.

Man, you might have better luck trying to explain that to the wall brother. They can't comprehend what a "game or string of games" means. I think any College QB can come to the NFL and have a few good throws. If you are a division I QB you obviously have some arm talent. But to be able to do it all game long is something else. And then once you have that game then lets see a few of them in a row. Then lets see a month of them. Once you have strings of good games then and the bad one is rare you have shown you are the guy. But at this point we want to see ONE game. I am praying that is tonight.
