Zach Wilson get on with your life’s work please

Everyone here can comprehend what a string of games is, most can comprehend it is again a wait and see with Kenny.

Most even can comprehend what a third string QB looks like.

Then there is always that one that can't.

😁

No body is anointing Pickett as of yet, but some have anointed Mason Rudolf who hasn’t held up to your definition of “you are the guy”.

I’m just hoping that Mr. Pickett does what it takes for a “W”. If he falls short in all categories except the “W”, then I’m a happy camper.

Man, you might have better luck trying to explain that to the wall brother. They can't comprehend what a "game or string of games" means. I think any College QB can come to the NFL and have a few good throws. If you are a division I QB you obviously have some arm talent. But to be able to do it all game long is something else. And then once you have that game then lets see a few of them in a row. Then lets see a month of them. Once you have strings of good games then and the bad one is rare you have shown you are the guy. But at this point we want to see ONE game. I am praying that is tonight.
See above post.

No one anointed Rudolph. Find one post where someone said he was the future of this team. You won't find it. What you will see is members saying he never got a fair shot. Then you will find posters giving different parameters for Rudolph's fair shot vs what they are giving Pickett. I have said it time and time again Rudolph did not get a fair shot. And Pickett has not received a fair shot yet. That is the argument. No one has ever said Rudolph IS the guy.

I mean look at this thread. People say the Jets should give up on Zach Wilson. Wilson has 200 more passes than Pickett and is younger than him. 200 passes is 5-6 games.

Rudolph got a fair shot. The Steelers decided he didn't show them enough of what they were looking for. They didn't need to have a certain amount of reps to decide. It could be a different amount for every QB encountered.

Kenny is still being evaluated by them but they feel he is the answer to what they are looking for.

Let the Jets grab a scrap heap QB like Colt McCoy. Why should we deplete our team to help them? We have the best QB room in the NFL and after what happened to the 49ers last year in the PO, I'd hold onto our 3 guys for that insurance policy.

btw, how would you like to be a Broncos fan and have to watch Russell Wilson every week? Good God his is terrible. Hoping KP brings it tonight!

My brother in Christ, are you feeling OK?

who has better depth than us? I'll wait. . .
Oh my... You're serious?

  • Saints: Carr or Winston would start on our team.
  • Eagles: Mariotta is probably the same as Mitch, but Hurts is is light years better than KP.
  • Dolphins: Similar to Eagles commentary.
  • Seahawks: Drew Lock is only a year older than KP, so he still has 'Potential'. While Geno has become a top-10 passer.
  • Cardinals: Give me Kyler and Dobbs over whatever we have
  • Oh yea- The other 10+ squads that actually have a bona fide franchise QB
I think a lot of you are still living in this fantasy world, as if we currently do not have BIG question marks at the QB position.

No longer can we make fun of the Browns/Jets of the world for their awful QB play.

The big question is if we brought any other QBs to this team what would their stats look like? It's really tough to compare across teams. Ben, Mitch, Mason, Kenny have all looked terrible with Tomlin / Canada. Ben has certainly proved himself in the league and Mitch had some moments of greatness on a dysfunctional team The bears with mitch were much better than the bears without. I do not think Rudolph has it. I don't like how he throws the ball, especially on out routes. The jury is still out on Kenny. Bottom line is did we really have 4 bad QBs or is it a system failure? I bet if your put Purdy in last years offense it would still look like garbage

Shhhh stop making sense.

Kenny won’t be leaving anytime soon, crappy play or not. Coach Tomlin doesn’t give up that easy on 1st round picks. I see O’Canada being used as the ‘scape goat come end of season. Fire him and Tomlin’s JOB is safe. That will extend the KP8 career.

Truth

The one escape clause from KP8 if he continues to disappoint would be that he was Colbert’s dude as he walked out the door

Omar isn’t shy about moves to improve the team and just recently jettisoned 2 of our highest 3 OL picks in the Colbert era so maybe just maybe someone falls to us in the near future and he pulls a trigger

Just saying, there is hope that the new administration Khan/Weidl isn’t as tied to poor decisions as the previous one was

These guys don’t seem
Like the sit on your hands and just hope type of guys

Until Coach Tomlin is replaced, the system will remain the same / lame, only with quicker decisions on personnel replacement.

Yeah I loved their aggression, I would think that would eventually help the team. Still need improved coaching but from a team building outlook I think they are on the right path.

Here's another question. What would the stats look like if we put Pickett into another offense then? People blame Canada for Roethlisbergers 2021 season but people forget to mention he had a rookie Dan Moore at LT and maybe the worst center in the history of the NFL in rookie Kendrick Green on that line. Can anyone disagree we have a much better offensive line? How about receivers. Take away DJ and his best receiver was Claypool who is just a dumpster fire. And even with that Ben threw for 234/G with 22/10 td to int ratio.

So what if we took Pickett and put him on the Chargers, Vikings, Packers, DOLPHINS! Can you say a guy who throws 3 yards behind DJ on a 10 yard slant is going to kick butt? It's a hypothetical nightmare trying to predict that. SO maybe he would do better. Or maybe he would drag that team down to where the Steelers are currently. No one knows.

However you spin the agenda it is a wait and see. I bet Kenny on the Niners would light it up. They have a better roster than the Steelers easily. Especially their skilled positions. A better pass catching RB, better YAC receivers. Better OC easily.

Yeah no question he would play better on that team than this one....

This guy is horrible. I know the Cowboys have a really good defense but Wilson has zero business playing QB at the NFL level. The Jets even tried to make it simple for him with short slants and hook patterns but just horrible QB play.
I would expect the Jets to be on the phones this week maybe to the Steelers inquiring about Mitch.
They have to do something because they are not going to any playoffs with this guy.
His momma is fine though...

But we have seen many bad games. We want to see that one great game. To at least show he has it in him. He has 14 starts so I would say it is too early to say he should have had that game. But here are some of the other QBs in the 2022 draft class who all have with less starts.

Sam Howell - 3 starts
27/39 69% 299 yards 2 td 0 int 108.8 QB rating

Desmond Ridder - 6 starts
19/30 63% 224 yards 224 yards 2 td 0 int 108.2 QB rating

Bailey Zappe - 4 starts
24/34 70% 309 yards 2 tds 0 int 118.4 QB rating

Brock Purdy - 11 starts
16/21 76% 185 yards 2 tds 0 int 134 QB rating
17/26 65% 217 yards2 td 0 int 117 QB rating
15/22 68% 234 yards 2 td 1 int 114.6 QB rating
22/35 63% 284 yards 2 td 1 int 95.4 QB rating
15/20 75% 178 yards 2 td 0 int 141.2 QB rating
19/29 66% 220 yards 2 td 0 int 111.3 QB rating

As you can see one is head and shoulders above the others. But the other two have very small sample sizes and have had very good games. You could see they have the potential to be the guy. So far no one can say they have seen that from Pickett. Well, some do but everyone who knows football just laughs at them and their homerism.
Cooch wants to know if they have bigger heads and hands than Kenny???

We need to spend a pick on a qb next time no matter how you slice it. Oh, I suppose Tomlin would rather have mitch and Rudolph hang around.

If Kenny develops I doubt that happens. If he doesn't...sure.

Canada is no top-tier Offensive Mind, but lets consider the following:
  • Ben struggled in the offense because he was well past his prime, and lets not forget that he had elbow surgery on his throwing arm.
  • Mitch has been inconsistent his entire career. Why are people pretending as if he was Josh Allen before he came to the Steelers? Why do you think we were able to afford him?!
  • Mason has hardly operated in this offense to really glean any information. Even still, we are talking about a #3 QB who is dangerously close to making his CFL debut.

Almost every unbias football observers would say that the Steelers have had pretty bad QB play over the past three years.

They both played horrible I agree but this is Wilson’s third year already and has shown zero progress.
Let’s see how young Kenny responds Monday night.
I’m not going to get into some tit for tat and seemingly trying to defend that milf slayer.

But…and I’m pulling this off top of my head/*** so I could be wrong. Rookie year he played like a rookie. The following year was playing well, winning, then lost two real bad games and got pulled?

Again I’m not pulling or defending that dude. I’m just saying to call him horrible after that loss would be akin to saying the same for Kenny.
