Options at QB1 (including rumors of offer to Darnold)

I’m calling it right now. If Sanders falls and is available @ #7, Tomlin does everything he can to move up and Draft him

Trey Lance and one of Rogers/Wilson

For the love of god please no

But it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see it happen

Tomlin would be the worst possible coach to mentor him and control his daddy

If he gets to #7, I don't think he stops sliding until it would be our pick anyway. I thought maybe the Cards would take him, but then I looked up Murray's contract...yikes. Maybe the Buccs, Mayfield is only under contract another 2 years. In theory the Colts could, then you'd have Richardson, Jones, and Sanders fight it out. But that just seems unlikely. The Saints really would depend on what they plan on doing with Carr. They have said they are comfortable with him, but stranger things have happened. Still don't think they'd have to go all the way up to #7,

Possibly but they would have to give away 1st and 2nd round picks in 2026 to do it and the draft is in the Burgh in 2026. I can't see them screwing up the first high profile NFL anything happening in Pittsburgh. I mean, they could do it but it would be a huge dis to the Steelers fans not giving them the opportunity to cheer for their team at the draft. It's a pretty big deal when you watch how things turned out for the other home teams now that the draft is moving around.

Trading those picks would have to be a Rooney decision.

At this point, I hope the Steelers lock up a QB2 with starting experience (like Flacco, Winston, Marriotta, et al). Because QB1 is going to be volatile, whoever it ends up being.

Rogers or Russ....how did we get here? Selling out to get the subpar Pgh kid. Great vision there guys, or more like Art II.

Where is the middle finger response around here :ROFLMAO:..Justin!! We need an "F" you button. oh, wait....found it! 🖕

Seriously, I'm right there with you. He'll spend too much draft capital to get him. Dear God.

Apples to oranges. If we hadn't just traded for Metcalf, we might have been able to get a 2nd. Teams don't trade FOR a WR with a 2nd round pick, then get that pick back by trading away a different WR.
Have to agree with @stillwright here, why can't they? Matt and Dale were talking about this very possibility yesterday. I agree with you on quite a bit, but not this one. I am not saying they will but they logically and realistically very well could trade him. All it takes is the right offer and the right timing.

It's just a very unlikely scenario. Most teams don't trade for a WR just to ship one out in hopes they get the same compensation back. If this was the goal, wouldn't a player swap been more likely? If they were looking to move GP (and I know you said you aren't saying they will...), wouldn't it have made sense to send GP for DK straight up, or with the same late pick swaps?

And the other reason, you've devalued GP by bringing DK in. Teams already know what you gave up for DK, and by the reports, the Steelers were the most aggressive with their offer. So now, a team that wasn't going to give up as much for DK is suddenly going to do it for GP? No way, they'd get lowballed, at which point you hope for the best with the comp pick, or you transition tag him to work out a trade of some sort. Either way, you're not likely to bring in that same 2nd round pick unless he absolutely balls out and crushes his numbers to date. And that could happen, but at that point are you letting him go?

My point isn't if he slides to #7 he COULD slide to #21. My position is that IF he slides to #7 Tomlin would be willing to give anything to move up to get him, but not to move up to #1-#6 range. He would not risk another 14 draft picks.

He may slide to the second round from things I have heard. I would consider him in the second if you can trade down and pick one up. I wouldn't touch him in the first unless we get no one else in free agency.

Not interested in moving back, they need the DL pick in the 1st. Not sure I agree with moving up into the 2nd round either, too many needs.
