Options at QB1 (including rumors of offer to Darnold)

I agree you don't take back to back 1st rounders. I am in no way in favor of a 1st round QB this year. I have been suggesting 3rd at the earliest for a QB this year.

Unless Cam ward falls I agree, although you might talk me into a late second if the guy you want is there and you can get the pick.

How far are you HOPING Ward falls? He surely won't fall out of the 1st round, not happening, likely wouldn't even fall past 5.

Even if he falls to a pick that the Steelers can reach he would not be a Back to Back 1st round QB pick, unless they pick a QB in the 1st next year too. They have picked 2 OL in the first since Pickett

I’d be surprised if he fell past 9,
I’d wager he’s easily in the top 6 picks.

Maybe we can send some booze, hookers, cocaine and cameras to a hotel room for him and get him to drive off in a car with weapon to tank his stock a bit so we can scoop him up at 21 😎

If y’all can just ship me a bunch of booze, cocaine and prepay for the hookers I’ll do my best to get Ward to the party.

Realistically I am looking at McCord and Shough
 
Shough is 26, has an injury history, and is a development guy. I'd pass hard on that combination unless he is there in the 5th, at the earliest. Dart is a candidate I can see them using their 1st rounder on him as he won't be there in the 3rd. Milroe is intriguing but 3rd would be the earliest I would take him. Ewers and even Howard would be 3rd round or later guys to look at if they are there. Other than that, I'd probably pass unless say a guy like Leonard from Notre Dame is still on the board in the 7th. Then, the Steelers need a real QB coach/trainer that can develop the QB during the season and even in between seasons 1 and 2 along with between 2 and 3. The Steelers have no clue how to develop a QB or train a QB. That has been painfully obvious.

Can’t be a guy who needs a lot of development, that doesn’t happen in Pittsburgh anymore. Ewers/McCord/Howard are probably the best mid-round options in that regard. Milroe has the highest ceiling but would languish here.
 
I think if Dart is there at 1:21 , they likely take him... but I dont think he will make it that far.. too many teams need a long term solution there and while almost everyone thinks Ward is QB1, there are discussions about Sanders or Dart as QB 2.... some feel Sanders namesake is propping him up over his actual scouting stats... Some QB needy team will move up abd grab Dart... it may be like when KC came out of nowhere to get Mahomes...

None of his injuries seem to be anything more than bad luck. He is the only guy outside Dart of Ward I see as a potential franchise guy. Good size, arm and speed.

I'd take one almost every year, considering that chances of having someone end up being decent.
 
I hope the Steelers get several of those QB VR things that the Jayden Daniels insisted the Redskins get last year.

Every QB should want this new tool

Even top 10 QBs rarely turn out, you need volume.

I can just see the daily morning meetings by he and Clown-lin, nothing happening to develop a QB. Nothing. Just a waste of time.

I am getting this feeling as well. I know a lot don't like Dart, but he has some tools you can work with. There are some draft analysts who LOVE Dart. I'm also not convinced next year is going to have a plethora of great QB options like is currently being sold to us. A lot of unproven talent and potentially a lot of players who won't enter the draft.

And this may be what they have to do, assuming he is there in the 4th or 5th round. I definitely wouldn't consider him in the 1st and probably not even the 3rd round but we shall see. We have a little over a month to wait.

Hell, I may take Dart and Shough or Howard or the Canadian guy late. Take 2.
 
I like Howard since I’m a Buckeye fan, but if there was still a 4-team playoff he would be a UDFA since the Mich loss and his bad performance in it would have kept them out.
