Official Free Agency Thread

Kyle Trask is returning to the Bucs for a year on a $2.78 mil contract.

could have easily been a bridge to our next franchise QB.

I thought about that too, then I dug into his time on the Chargers and it's not good. He gives up a lot of completions, TD's. QB ratings while he's covering are in the 90's. There's a reason he isn't signed yet.
"He's got pedigree and is perfect!"
/Tomlin

Looks like Mason Rudolph is back on a two year contract. He will be insurance in case they can’t get a targeted QB.

Lol none of us tiny minds get the brilliance of this lack of a move... if we dont have ANY QB, we can never throw one of those risky over the middle passes... plus we have 3 more roster slots for special teams aces...
Can we get another undersized TE/FB we can use once per game on the trick play that everyone thinks is coming when we just run up the gut without a lead blocker?

Or another WR so we can rest DK and GP so they don't have to be on the field at the same time?

Maybe we can keep our slow, overthehill KR!

Supposedly the Steelers are meeting with Juszczyk today...we are signing players like a team on the cusp of a SB instead of a team that should be building for the next decade. It is absolutely mind blowing.

Because Tomlin is convinced that we are...well his SB, the non-losing season

Tomlinship!!

Man, if only we'd had Juszczyzyzk instead of Whiff Johnson, the Steelers would have another SB and Spinthenfall would be right up there next to Bettis and Franco!

For a HC that doesn’t believe in FBs this move would be shocking to me.

Has Mikey Cool Shades been given a directive by Art Nutting to let Arthur Smith actually coordinate the offense?

This guy is a really good FB but so was Derek Watt before he got here and he never played except ST.
If we would truly use a FB then this could be a nice signing but Tomlin refuses to use the FB.

Ask and you shall receive, we signed Scotty Miller!

It wasnt that shocking... NFL teams are desperate for warm bodies on the oline... especially tackles... all the recent health crap about concussions and bulking up to play oline has seen a drastic reduction of top athletes playing oline...

Moore was one of the highest rated available tackles... and I believe the highest rated LT that made it to free agency... you overpay for free agents... they are rarely a bargain. He got overpayed by like 5 mil per... but that is the cost of getting a starter in an area that is short in supply

Yup look how Milton Williams got paid too.

Happens every year that teams pay an added premium for players acquired as free agents early in the process.

Also look at the teams that try to build through free agency-rarely works overpaying someone else’s castoffs.

Sure if ya have a glaring hole or two plug it through free agency. The majority of good value free agent signings come after the initial blitz by “cap rich” teams tho.

Hearing Echols speak about what he brings to the table and checking into some of his highlights and past production he seems like a very solid signing to bolster the slot role.

Massive upgrade from Sutton (I know, that’s a low bar)

As long as he is an upgrade for Beenie that will help that group.

They still are severely handicapped on the DL though…

Dulac just re-iterated that the goal is to break the playoff losing streak and “win a playoff game”.

But that's a dumb 1 year goal. Why not just try and build a super bowl contender once again. That is the standard, not just sneaking into the playoffs and praying you can sneak a win from someone. This Rooney certainly has lower standards than the previous 2 Rooneys and apparently this Rooney is nothing like his predecessors in regard to relationships with the players.

For God's sake sign Juszczyk and use him properly. Great football player. Would really add a lot of grit.

So Juszczyk just signed a contract to return to San Fran lol. Apparently, the Steelers were offering more money but he declined in favor of going back to the team which had him take a paycut last season. I guess, he, too, is seeing what a train wreck this franchise is becoming and decided he didnt want to take part in it
