Cam Heyward wants a new deal

Send him home already.

Play football that we have prepaid you for.
Else, go home.

Or be a man, send the money back and negotiate.

Send the money back……………… like he did the season before when he only played 11 games and 2 sacks…………………

YeahP, leadership.

It would have been the end when he had two other players on his live podcast from the practice field.

Those two players pimping him for more pay would have been in my office and a very stern talking to.

Tomlin is letting the insane run the asylum .

Salute the nation

This goes to show that we don't live in the same reality as an NFL player. One year ago, he inks a 3-year contract and now thinks it isn't good enough. Imagine negotiating a salary with your employer, then going back into their office a month later and complaining about it.
He isn't going to garner any support whining about this. You signed the contract, now honor it.

We hired a guy late last year to run an office, like november... in February he told the upper office he had a better offer and was gonna leave if they didnt match

So they did match it. And a month or two later he went back to them and said the other company offered him more... so they let him leave... he signed two contracts in like four months and still left🤣

My sisters husband is a big wig in Germany and he is always looking for that bigger check. He is not afraid to uproot and chase. It works for him, just not for me I spent too much of my life here there and everywhere I try to stay a little more grounded now.

Oh before I forget did yinz see Bos ended his hold in?

For me that makes me want to do something for him.

Why? It would show the desired approach between player A and B. One quietly holds in and returns and gets rewarded. The other mouthier continues to hold in.

Wouldn’t that show the team has a desired approach? Or matters not?

They can simply ignore it or throw him some incentives. He has limited options. The Steelers are really in the drivers seat…

I’m all for adding an incentive

All Pro gets ya a $5 million kicker with the caveat:
Only 25% of the incentive paid per playoff win with a SB victory counting as 100% (even if only 3 wins)…ya basically give him what looks like some icing in the cake for him to save face (from the corner he’s backed himself into) since in the past he has been a core team player.

Go quietly out the first round and zilch

But it looks like he got some icing…and we all know if they get 2-4 playoff wins none of us are complaining about that extra icing Cam got on his cake.

I’d also let him know this is best and final as a favor for years of good service, you have 24 hours to accept or just sit at home with your ball and stay away from the “team”

Bos ended his hold in because Sauls proved a viable option if he didnt

If a younger guy gets an extended opportunity, and he shows he can play, teams are known to pick younger and cheaper over old reliable all the time.

Harmon starting to come on isnt quite the same, but had, say, Black really sparked and looked like a guy who needed more playing time, and one or two of the other dl Backups looked real good too, Heyward might get worried too

Fittipoldo seemed to come up with a reasonable solution as last resort. Advance him some of his roster bonus for next year and consider this his last season. Then if he is still marketable next year he can go FA. If you think he still has anything in tank you can rework a final year.

To me fronting a guy more bonus money for tryna hold ya hostage is simply caving and a bad look and a bad precedent to set.

If they wanna start renegotiating with 2 years left on deals then by all means, open the flood gates.

Cam already grabbed 13.75 before he made a ***** move… what’s to prevent another ***** move if ya front him more money?

The team can say yes or no whenever they want. Also, it's not like worse hasn't happened with players dictating their way out of town with their actions.

The Steelers did this with AB, they broke the 1-year rule when they started extending Ben 2 years out. They have become more active in the trade market and made some splashier free-agent signings. The floodgates won't open if they make this move for Cam.

Maybe so maybe not, I wouldn’t negotiate with the terrorist. He’d have already got a very clear and defined message that his BS ain’t gonna work. If he had an ounce of loyalty he’d have crossed this bridge before the 13.75 million cash grab. But naw, he’s just like a bad Steve Miller song.

imo the floodgates are already open in many ways with the pathetically weak ownership and HC.

Inmates have been running the asylum for a hot minute now. May already be too late to salvage any of the past Steelers standards and operations procedures sans a full house cleaning from the very top to the bottom of the “leadership”.

I think advancing cash with still cap space available and getting him completely off the books next year could be win win. I realize the optics 448. But you drafted your next stud last year. You can get good in FA with Cams money. And then he's done.

I keep telling fans.. telling them…

Don’t threaten me with a good time.

I wish my boss thought that way!

If his contract is structured in the last year like this year (a huge roster bonus with minimal salary) then there is no need to advance money. Roll over the free cap space into next year and cut him before that roster bonus is due. It would save as much vs the cap for next year that way. Use that money to get his replacement.

rolling him more money just seems like a cave in to the terrorist’s demands.

Did a little digging and sure enough next year is very similar. 1.3 salary and 12.9 roster bonus.
Simply cut him before the roster bonus is due and the hostage is free and off the books. I sure as hell wouldn’t make the same mistake twice and hand him more money now.

If ya roll him next year’s roster bones early what’s to say in a few more weeks Greedy old man Cam doesn’t want more again? Didn’t take him too long to want more coming off that last contract.

Or simply reward him after the season when he has only one year left on his contract.

I get what you're sayin. But they got Aaron Rogers, made a horrific trade for Metcalf and paid top top dollar. Signed Watt to a contract he probably can't fulfill., traded for what will probably be a terrible contract in a couple years with Ramsey. They got a lot of chips in and you probably want Cam on the field. So make something that saves face for everyone and broom him next year.

I get that too,
I’m just not into trying to mistake your way out of previous mistakes.

Had he wanted to negotiate before the 13.75 million cash grab I’d have a lot more respect for the move.

But at this point ya can’t trust him as far as ya can throw him…and I sure wouldn’t hand him another stack of cash prior to him playing out the season. In no way would I advance him more money when ya know he’s quite capable of just holding out some more.

Maybe just maybe an incentive for 17 games played or playoff wins…but no way I hand him a dime before the season starts.

If I’m ownership I’m not going to break years of precedent to appease a guy acting like he is.

Even with all the moves made it has just been reshuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. I’d put the playoffs at 60/40 and a playoff win at maybe 20-30%. It’s gonna take a helluva a streak to buy into this squad as a legit contender for me. But a 20-30%chance of a singular playoff win is a slight improvement over how they entered the last couple seasons…damn I hope they go on a streak and make me eat crow but fool me six, seven, eight times in a row then shame on me for believing

If your boss points himself in a corner like Kahn did here. He probably would.
I highly doubt it. Not to many places pay in advance in this world. It is all about current performance

No but Kahn did. And they can get something. Maybe a lot for another 7million. Or nothing for the 12-13 million. I dont think either side is backing down here for full capitulation. I really dont. Bos might. Or maybe they made gentlemen agreement for next year. I dont think Cam is backing down. They are gonna have to meet somewhere in the middle here.

Id have to know their recourse if he retires. I agree about your contending scenarios. But they obviously are pretty ****** delusional about this team themselves. They are the team of misfit toys but dont seem to realize. Like Id be down with letting him kick rocks because I know your percentages are accurate. But Tomlin is paid to win games and they didn't do all this **** to have is 1-3 best defender sit at home.

Trade Cam and Connor to Philly for a photo op with the Mike holding their Lombardi, it’s the closest he’ll ever get to another one 😎🤣😎

They can go the city of brotherly love and we can be done with his BS

Odds are Cam won't have the season he had last season. Will probably be south of that. At his age. So why change your history of only renegotiating with one year left on a contract for an over the hill has been who will probably have a subpar year....going off of history of older players in the NFL coming off of a career year while in his mid 30s? You would have to be an idiot to do that. I wonder what the Vegas odds are of Cam having the season he had last year.....this year? I will take the under 100%. Wonder what Omar and Rooney will bet on?
