Tomlin stepping down

Kahn needs to go too. McAfee was saying earlier today that it makes sense for a HC and GM to interview with a team together. That way they can say that they get along, agree and have the same philosophy for success. I like it.

Everybody needs to go....

This needs to be a clean sheet for the next incoming HC.

The rebuild from top to bottom starts now.

Wow! Wow! Wow! It was beyond time for this to happen. I was a Tomlin supporter up until a few years ago. He is a 1st ballot HOF coach and I wish him luck in the booth, with another team, or if he just goes into hiding for a while. He will always be one of our 3 great coaches during my lifetime.

Let's hope our next coach is just as great as our previous 3. That's a lot to ask for but we can hope. D's still win games, just look at the Texans. Their D is legit the best in the league. But I hope they get more of an offensive guy to lead the team. We have one and possibly two young QB's that need grooming.

Best comments I’ve seen on social media so far:

“He didn’t want to break Marvin Lewis’ record for consecutive playoff losses.”

“Aaron Rodgers got another head coach fired.”

I'd be just as shocked if Kahn goes. Kahn has only been there for what, 3 years? He has brought in some good guys, but Tomlin had his hands all over who they brought in. The draft this past year looks to be our best in a while. The year prior wasn't bad either. I don't see him going anywhere, but he sure could.

Feels like we won a SB. That's how elated I feel.

I’m guessing that Rodgers won’t be back either given this. Time to see what Howard gives us.
Or it might increase his odds of coming back.

Khan has brought in talent and made some shrewd draft day trades to shake up the status quo.
The problem is, the coaching staff from the top down (aside from Bubbles) has been woefully incompetent at getting that talent to play at an NFL level. That's proven when we pull guys off the trash heap who can step in the next week and play while the guys we draft miss the "moving train".

The Macallan 12 will be poured this evening.
I just uncorked a bottle of the 50th anniversary of the Steelers first Super Bowl victory bourbon.
The plan was to uncork it last night after a playoff win, but you know how that went.,

The bourbonwent down easy!
Just like the Steelers

Well you knew you wouldn't open it for a ND championship.😅

I was listening to Stein this morning and he said 37% wanted him fired, so maybe not majority in the polls.

Now that it happened the % number would be higher.

Of course you will have those just waiting in the wings, to beotch should the new coach falter.

If the new coach is inept, I will. No mercy. Bill came in and took over a team like this one and made it into contenders almost immediately. If the next guy can't do that, why'd we hire him? (said, kinda tongue in cheek ... kinda serious though)

Anyone else find it odd that he didn't even have a short press conference for his decision but a statement made via X. I remember when Cowher resigned, he had a press conference. After 19 season, he gives a statement on X? I call bullshit, I truly believe he was told to step down. This wasn't Tomlin's decision.

Should we keep Omar Khan or find a way to clean house all the way?
Austin’s contact is up but Smitty still has a year or two, unless he gets hired away as a HC.

At this point, I wouldn't care whether Tomlin stepped down, ARll told him to step down or The Ghost Of Super Bowls Past came and told him to look at the mess he's made. The fact that he's gone is good enough without knowing the how. (Because, as was said earlier, it's likely we'll never know the 'how/why')

Anybody else notice that 3 of 4 teams in the AFC North have HC vacancies now?

The Pickens deal was of desperation, not shrewdness. Not sure that Kahn has made a bigger deal, since this begat the DK bad trade & contract.

I get that, I just find it odd that a guy so entrenched in an organization didn't even have a press conference to announce such a thing but whatever. It would have been more heart felt and his words feel pretty empty on a "statement."

I fully agree with you SIR, it was the "I told you so" crowd i was referring to.

You know the kind, waiting / wanting failure so they can be right, that crowd.
