Coordinators Thread

Byron Leftwich....just sayin....

Randell El another once player here, could be a candidate as well.

Salute the nation

Two more this is one of the hires…

“The Steelers are hiring former Commanders DC Joe Whitt Jr. as assistant head coach/secondary coach, sources say. Whitt, 47, spent 11 seasons on Mike McCarthy’s staff with the Packers. Now, they’re reunited in Pittsburgh.”

Other report has him just not offered the job.

Doesn’t look like so far that Rooney is involved in Mike’s process.
He wasn't offered the job. All these coaches this year are "removing their names" when they've been told they aren't getting hired. PR move to save face.

I think Brian is doubling as the TE coach (not positive)

Not sure what Kaboly means by "crossover." Maybe TE coach/passing game coordinator?

Yeah that is odd. Coaches both sides of the ball? You got me..

It's just generally how it goes in both professional and college football. Coaches like having guys around who they are familiar with, and know what to expect from them. Look no further than Matt Campbell at PSU as another prime example.
Which is why hiring established head coaches sucks more than newer hires... the old guys recycles old ideas with old buddy coaches... new guys usually have to bring in more diversified coaches, which leads to innovations...

To play devils advocate here..

It can also lead to abject failure due to Inexperienced hires which frequently leads to more errors, takes longer for inexperienced to become fully productive, and inexperienced coaches need more guidance and hand-holding, putting a heavier burden on other leadership functions of the organization.
Also..Many inexperienced coaches lack foundational professional skills, including communication and workplace etiquette, that can have a long-term adverse effect on the organizational culture that previously has been successfully achieved..

Just the name a few of the concerns with hiring inexperienced coaches that have no or limited track record of success in the NFL..

I have a feeling with Mike’s comments involving his year sitting out that it won’t just be just an old way of looking at it approach.

The OC looks like new concept capable too.

I like the number of ex-players mixed in with the experienced parts of the coaching staff. Plus there are people there that understand the AFC North. I'm pretty positive so far. It's all about the QB from here though.

I see Dunbar was hired by the Jets for the same position.

What does the Steelers have left just the TE coach?
