But if we cut emmisions the Chinese won't..... but...

Except the idea is that between making gas prices higher and mandatory fuel economy higher that the people won't be able to afford to drive large vehicles and automakers will have to stop making them. Get with the program.

Pickup truck in Italy where gas is $8 a gallon:

(That's actually my photo, taken outside of our hotel.)

Ron, the size of vehicles in old Europe is also a factor of the width of streets. When in Madrid, the garbage trucks were miniatures of ours , and the sees were terribly narrow.

I get that. The pic I posted was in Siena where they have miniature garbage trucks too. Those cities were built long before cars were. But the deal in Europe seems to be more of a priority of fuel economy over emissions and crash protection. Personally I think we should adopt Europe's auto standards, then the automakers could just make the same cars everywhere. They have cars that get get great MPG but they won't meet emissions and crash standards here. If you'd see a Fiat Panda, I mean I'd be afraid to lean on one for fear I'd crush it.

I was here also. Wait for it. About 3:40.

In Germany they milled back the corners on the buildings in the little towns so our military convoys could get through.
